In no particular order:
Final Fantasy XIII. I love FFX and I've been kind of bummed with the recent direction of the FF series, but this game seems to be a return to tight, linear progression I prefer.
Super Street Fighter IV. SFIV reignited my love for fighting games, and while I haven't played SFIV in a bit, this new iteration is getting me excited, particularly due to the new characters and rumored online modes.
Bayonetta. Couldn't get enough of the demo and I cannot wait to pick this up soon. Looks like the best action game since the duo of NGB/DMC3, which I equally loved.
Super Mario Galaxy 2. I'm going to revisit the original soon, but EAD Tokyo is probably Nintendo's most talented development studio right now. If this game is a tighter and more polished version of SMG, I will be happy.
The Last Guardian. I loved SoTC, but it was apparent that Team ICO's vision was hampered by outdated PS2 hardware. I can't wait to see what they accomplish with the PS3.
3D Dot Game Heroes. This game came out nowhere, but I was immediately drawn to it due to its zany art direction.
Persona 3 PSP. I lost my PS2 save when my PS3 went kaput. I'm glad their streamlining some of the social events for the PSP. Hopefully, Atlus will announce a PSP version of Persona 4, which is currently on my backlog. With the exception of big budget RPGs--see FFXIII--I'm moving most of my RPG gaming to the portable space.
Dragon Quest VI + IX. Same formula, but Enix's just knows how to execute it well in every iteration. Hopefully, these are dated soon.
Dead Rising 2. Capcom has been quiet with this title. I'm guessing Q4 release, but the first remains one of my top 360 games.
Crackdown 2. More Crackdown is fine by me.
-
:bow Medal of Honor :bow2
Hopefully they can channel more of Body of Lies than A-Team.
:bow Battlefield Bad Company 2 :bow2
Spent hours playing a single map and game type. This one should last most of the year. Even double-dipping, PS3 and PC.
Looking forward to God of War III as well, but I'm not really interested in reading or seeing more about it. It's God of War, and I don't expect many surprises. I'm going to avoid previews for Splinter Cell as well, but for the opposite reason.
Oh yeah, and :bow Split Second :bow2
Oh yeah #2, that zombie shooter from the Stardust developer looks awesome. Forget the name of it, but it looks like L4D + Stardust.
-
Monster Hunter Tri - Looks good, and long. I imagine I'll invest hundreds of hours into it and that's okay with me.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 - It'll be the Wii's GOY so who wouldn't get it?
Sin & Punishment 2 - I'm a shooter fan and this game looks explosive.
Those three are my must-buys, everything else is still pending. I might snatch me a new HDTV and if Sony is smart enough to lower the cost of the PS3 by another $100, I'll grab that as well, with some games.
-
I'm curious about Conviction, though I'm totally ignorant of the franchise. The e3 trailer looked interesting. Hopefully, we'll get a demo.

Judging from the way certain Splinter Cell "fans" have reacted to recent revelations about the game, ignorance may work in your favor.

Mass Effect 2
HomeFront
New UFC title
Alan Wake
Gears 3
Splinter Cell Conviction
Red Dead Redemption
Mafia 2
Very interested to see APB although that could either suck or be cool.
-
FF13
Mass Effect 2
Alpha Protocol
Dead Rising 2
-
-Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom UAS: The first version of the game was flawed, but fun. This upgrade looks to fix its issues and also adds online -which will make or break the game for me.-
-BlazBlue PSP and Continuum Shift: The latter hasn't even been announced for home yet, but you know it's coming. The PSP version will get me back into the original, big time.
-Super Street Fighter IV: My most-anticipated game by FAR. SF4 was my favorite game last year (beating out Bayonetta and Uncharted 2), so I am foaming at the mouth over this.
-Resident Evil 5 DLC: Two new episodes and upgraded Mercenaries. I'm all over it!
-Mass Effect 2: Looking forward to this, hoping the combat is much better this time around. REALLY hoping the sidequests are vastly improved. REALLY REALLY hoping the Mako is gone.
-Crackdown 2: Layeth the cracketh down again.
-NeoGeo Battle Coliseum XBLA: Did not expect SNK to upgrade the visuals. It looks great, but like TvC, online will make or break the game.
-Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker: Been a long time since we got a (real) Metal Gear sequel. The demo sold me.
-
:heartbeat BAYONETTA :heartbeat
Perfect Dark online remake
Mass Effect 2
FFXIII
Super Street Fighter IV
BlazBlue Continuum Shift
Criterion's Need for Speed
That's it for now. I'm sure that list will get a lot bigger.
-
Final Fantasy XIII. I love FFX and I've been kind of bummed with the recent direction of the FF series, but this game seems to be a return to tight, linear progression I prefer.
Instaleper here.
Not a big final fantasy guy myself (atlhough I'm sure I'll gamefly and play FF13) but I agree with him in theory. I'm fine with linear JRPG's. I actually don't like it when they try to ape the structure of WRPG's.
-
bayo
splinter cell
dead risin 2
-
Of what's been confirmed? Endless Ocean 2 and Monster Hunter 3. Sin and Punishment 2 has entered NoA limbo it seems. I need to see if Super Monkey Ball has a good control scheme in there before I take the plunge. I believe that's it! Kinda looking forward to not spending so much on games. I do need to rebuy the metroid prime trilogy because metroid prime is one of those games I always end up missing when its not around.
-
bleh i hate waiting
i mean sands of destruction is in a week, every other games in this list hit in a gazillion of year!
-
Mass Effect 2.
Splinter Cell Conviction
Lost Planet 2 - I know nothing but the demo reel looked pretty bad-ass.
Already have Bayonetta.
Erm, that's about it. This gen feels pretty much "done" to me. Like we've already had the best entries in all the major franchises/game categories and we won't really see many surprises from here. Hope I'll be proven wrong, of course. Half-Life Ep. 3 would be nice, for example! I'm mostly looking forward to getting stuck into my insane backlog.
-
Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the big one. The Yoshi is a step in the wrong direction and I'm so cynical of Nintendo's efforts that I feel that they will drop the ball this time. Nevertheless, I'm going to play the cautious optimist card and expect that it will be a great game, as great as the first, with a few more hitches here and there than the original. I intend to re-Wii for this game (hopefully it will come down to $149-179) and replay some of the (few) good Wii titles worth playing, including another run of SMG and Mario Kart I'm sure, along with NSMB Wii and Sin and Punishment 2.
I'm not looking forward to much else but this year is about me catching up the best I can to the latest and greatest releases.
-
bad company 2
heavy rain
the last guardian
mgs: peace walker
fallout new vegas i guess
splinter cell? maybe?
-
Sin and Punishment 2 - was a big fan of the original, imported it a few years back and it's definitely my fave rail shooter with the exception of Rez. The sequel looks to up the ante in every way, not to mention, this is one game where Wii controls (pointer) will benefit it.
Dragon Quest 9 - well, yeah. Not much to say about this one or why I'm looking forward to it.
Dragon Quest 6 Remix - only got about 1/3 of the way through the SFC version, it will be nice to play this in English. I remember the original version being really hard too, one of the most challenging DQ games with the exception of 2.
Mega Man 10 - LOOOOOVE the NES MM games, loved 9, this looks to be more of the same goodness. Will also prob. have my favorite game soundtrack of the year.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 - half of me worries that it won't have the 'whimsy' of Galaxy, but the other half of me is excited that this may have amazing and super-challenging level designs.
Bayonetta - the demo was really cool, I love ridiculous wacky jappy stuff of course, and it's been a while since I've played a solid brawler.
Resonance of Fate - Battle system and setting look pretty damn interesting.
Sands of Destruction - reminds me of a PS1 RPG in terms of style, will check it out.
Tales of Graces - hopefully we'll get this in the US, the battle system looks like the smoothest 3D Tales engine yet.
The Last Guardian - awesome graphics and I liked Ico and SOTC. Hopefully it will be free of the framerate problems of the latter.
Fallout New Vegas - don't know much at all about this, but I'll definitely give it a look.
-

Random comments:
- I can already tell my GOTY will be Mass Effect 2...that's just gonna be indescribably awesome. Mass Effect had such a great atmosphere and story and i loved the epic space odyssey feel of it...bobobo repetitive looking areas for the side quests, who cares. I'm sure they fixed that in the sequel
- Oddly enough, i'm looking forward to FF14 more than FF13. I've never played an mmo before tho. FF13 just sounds way too linear and on-rails..im losin interest, not that i had much to begin with because western RPGs shit all over japanese ones.
- There's also DC universe online that i wanna try...so either that or FF14 be my first mmo
- Battlefield bad company 2 will almost certainly be my multi-player GOTY. Absolutely loved the first one. Lost Planet 2 multi has a shot too...but i haven't read anything about it
- Quantum Theory is a huge rip-off of gears (like Dante's is of GoW) but why does it matter if the game's good? it looks pretty good and some of the mechanics are unique...throwing that chick around
- Brink is gonna be incredible
- i hope just cause 2 sells well because they've spent so many years making it and it looks awesome
- Transformers war for cybertron looks cool i hope it's better than the last one
- man i hope Alien vs. Predator delivers..i think it will cause of the dev and what we've seen and know so far...
So yeah i'm gonna be broke as fuck..
-
yea
-
Off the top of my head:
Bayonetta
Mass Erect 2
Alpha Protocol
Bad Company 2
Dead Rising 2
Crackdown 2
and I guess Mario Galaxy 2.
I'd say Fallout New Vegas but I'm pretty convinced it's either not coming out this year or is vaporware. :-\
-
My top 5:
1. FFXIII
2. Gran Turismo 5
3. God of War 3
4. Mario Galaxy 2
5. Alan Wake
I don't know if The Last Guardian is going to be released this year...
-
Bethesda was just talking about it on their Twitter feed, Triumph. I think it's real.
-
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Mass Effect 2
Gears 3
Splinter Cell Conviction
Red Dead Redemption
Mafia 2
Madden 2011
-
I'm primarly looking forward to catching up on 2009 games. Dragon Age, Risen and AC2, in particular. The 2010 release I am interested in are Bayonetta, SMT:SJ, 3D Picross and Mass Effect 2.
-
Mass Effect 2
It just looks so much better, polished and exciting than Mass Effect 1 that i'm very surprised. It's also the 1st sequel Bioware develops since Baldurs Gate 2, which is a big deal for me. I think it's gonna be one of the best games of the generation.
Alan Wake
Purely because i'm a huge fan of Max Payne 1 and 2 which makes me look forward to what's next for Remedy even though Alan Wake isn't by definition, my cup of tea.
Heavy Rain
Yes the writing so far seems atrocious along with the voice acting, and my hype because of that has suffered immensely, but it still is a kind of game i can get behind, and i really liked Fahrenheit so i'm on board for this one.
Read Dead Redemption
It looks so good.
Splinter Cell Conviction
Last but not least i assure you. It looks really good, and if they can deliver on the story, this might just be the game i've been waiting for.
-
persona 3 PSP hasn't even gotten announced for the US, has it? Considering how poorly persona 1 PSP sold, I don't think it's a sure thing that we're going to get an English version of P3 PSP...
-
Heavy Rain

I just don't see why there's any hype for this game...it looks so bad. A game full of QTEs...like a nightmare come true. And I doubt the story will be better than even an above average hollywood script
-
People hype and play assy RPGs, so it's no surprise that some would get into assy QTE games.
-
yeah and i bet if it was multi-platform nobody would care one bit
-
greatly looking forward to and all day ones

God of War III
Dragon Quest IX
SMT: Strange Journey
-
i look forward to playing most of them in 2011
-
:lol
Mass Effect 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 are the only DAY ONE items for me. I'm super interested in BioShock 2 and Splinter Cell, but I think I will likely wait until they go on sale. Super Street Fighter IV might be an impulse buy.
-
Most everything is already covered, so of games not yet mentioned:
-Parasite Eve 3 / The 3rd Birthday / that Parasite Eve PSP game
-Metro 2033
-whatever Ghost Recon Predator turns out to be
-Rage
-Beyond Good and Evil 2 (?)
and yeah, unless I find good deals for these games, I'm holding off on buying most until there is one.
-
Iron Man 2 for the DS
-
I don't see Bayonetta on everyone's list. EB sucks.

Played it last year.

I don't know man. I was pretty into point and click adventures back in the day, Broken Sword being one of my all time favorites! Heavy Rain just seems like an evolution of the genre.
And average hollywood script beats most games anyway. We'll see if its good or not.
-
I don't see Bayonetta on everyone's list. EB sucks.
People already have it, and if they don't, it's out tomorrow.
-
-whatever Ghost Recon Predator turns out to be
I'm curious about this. I hope they take the opportunity to seize currently unclaimed territory, bring it back to the basics and steer clear of Modern Warfare and :bow MOH :bow2 , but with how things are going, I'm expecting an even more Advanced Warfighter game.
-
I don't see Bayonetta on everyone's list. EB sucks.
Played it last year.
Yeah, I know you did. Not sure who else did outside of Japan-bore.
-
ninja gaiden 2 is better than bayonetta
better combat, more responsive combat, and no wacky jappy art
-
SMH
-
I will not buy or play Bayonetta, and I will be better for it.
-
bayonetta is a riced out 140hp honda civic with a gaudy body kit, big spoiler, neon underglows, racing stickers, and altezza headlights
ninja gaiden 1/2 is a 2010 lambo murcielago lp640
end of discussion
-
let me rephrase that
bayonetta:

I know there's an excess amount of Wii hate on EB, but sad to see that Sin and Punishment 2 isn't popping up on more lists.
-
Most of us don't have wii's!
If I had a wii I'd be PUMPED.
-
Chow Chow, I think you have Bayonetta confused with Devil May Cry.
-
Chow Chow, I think you have Bayonetta confused with Devil May Cry.
:lol 8)
-
I don't even know what game that is.
-
ninja gaiden 2 is better than bayonetta
better combat, more responsive combat, and no wacky jappy art
I just rented NG2 a few days ago and was wowed at how the camera is every bit as shitty and spastic as it was in the prequel
-
Only games I'm thinking about are FFXIII and whatever Bethesda jizzes out.
-
I'm surprised no one has listed WOW Cataclysm, but I guess it's automatic for WOW players.
-
Sin and Punishment should be awesome with a wiimote.
Finally a game type that is actually suited to the wiimote and has depth: the rail shooter. Put Panzer Dragoon on that shit, Sega.

Hell no. It would look worse than Orta. Wait until the next Nintendo console.
-
- Deadly Premonition (only $20)
- Risen
- Perfect Dark
- Final Fantasy XIII

leave the thinking to the grown folks

I totally forgot my most anticipated title(s) of 2010.
Anything with Gundam or Super Robot Wars in the title. You know that Bandai Namco has more crap coming down the pipeline.
-
Sega Racing Classic, because I'm pumped about playing a non-broken Daytona USA cabinet again. :hyper
Speaking of, I did hear a while back that Raw Thrills is making a Daytona USA-like racer. I want to play that, if it comes to fruition. :-*
-
bayonetta sucks.
I'm looking forward to SSF4, TvC and FFXIII.
-
Real talk:
Anyone who doesn't play Bayonetta but watches FFXIII should just give their consoles away.
-
Chow Chow only has a PS3, that's why he's hating on Bayonetta, I bet. :lol
If the PS3 version were superior he'd be talking about how awesome it is.
-
Medal of Honor - My stance is that airborne was superior than both Call of Duty 2 & 3, which is why I'm under the impression that Medal of Honor will surpass what IW has done with the Modern Warfare series...assuming they take the more intimate route with combat (don't throw 100 dudes at me, keep it small and tactical). Also DICE on MP should be awesome.
If it's really based on Operation Anaconda (I know the official line is that it's a work of fiction based on real conflict, but that was the rumor for some time), then it should have a bit of both. Lots of Special Forces and SOG action. :drool
Also, Brink. I keep forgetting about this, which is ridiculous since it looks fuck awesome. I really hope the whole SP/MP thing works out.
-
I know there's an excess amount of Wii hate on EB, but sad to see that Sin and Punishment 2 isn't popping up on more lists.
It didn't show up in Nintendo's Q1 release schedule, so there is a chance they shitcanned it after it megabombed in Japan.
-
Real talk:
Anyone who doesn't play Bayonetta but watches FFXIII should just give their consoles away.
What if you don't care about either?
Stick to PC gaming.
-
chow chow :lol

Real talk:

i was going to buy it but now i won't.
-
Bayonetta - may buy the Asia version since it is not region locked like the J-version. ???
Crackdown 2 - more, more, give me more. I may even go back and try the races in 1 again to prep.
Red Dead Redemption - the original was fun and mutated; very platform-game style boss battles, with midgets and charging brick-like cowboys... the sequel looks like it is taking the genre more seriously, which I fear because of what that did to GTA IV. But this is still a day 1 purchase for me.
Joy Ride - a free racer with avatar support and lots of Live goodies? Sign me up.
-
Ten PC games of 2010 for me. I'm sure I missed some stuff.
Starcraft 2 - DUUUH. Already laddering again on iccup to get ready, man I suck, but I am getting better, and, more important, getting back some of the speed that I had lost when I "let myself go" from my heady RTS days almost a decade ago.
Victoria 2 - Hyper-detailed Paradox simulation of one of the most underrepresented periods in strategy gaming. I love the first game, and am glad the new one is keeping to the detailed-oriented approach while drastically improving the interface and rough edges of the design.
Elemental : War of Magic -Stardock's biggest in-house release since GalCiv2. Here's hoping it's the Master of Magic style game we've all been waiting for since Triumph studios went off to make dirty console games instead of more Age of Wonders.
Silent Hunter V- This game was already a really immersive (submersive?) game with SH4, the new RPG-like additions, first person command w/ free movement in the sub, and a return to the Atlantic should make this one a real treat.
DCS: A-10C Warthog - Lock-On and Black Shark are two of the best combat sims of the modern era. I can't wait to see what they do with the A-10, one of the baddest-ass mutherfucker planes ever produced.
Split Second - Pure was awesome. This game looks patently absurd and knows its place of being big and loud, but the gameplay looks surprisingly not dumb.
Naumachia – Space Warfare - Please oh please be the sort of spiritual successor to Allegiance that I want you to be.
Alpha Protocol-This could either be really bad or really good. Either way I can't wait to get my hands on it.
Supreme Commander 2-I'm a total macro fiend in my RTS games and since the first game was pretty much all macro, I kicked some serious ass laddering in that game. Hoping the sequel will be just as much fun in multiplayer.
Misc expansions-Sacred 2, Anno 1404, and Mount and Blade are all getting some pretty cool expansions. I expect Hearts of Iron 3 to get one as well this year. Really looking forward to new stuff, and, just as importantly, another reason to fire up these great games again.
-
can't think of anything off the top of my head. Looking through these lists, I guess I'm not excited for anything. I got the 2010 game I was looking forward to in 2009. :lol
which is fine, Bayonetta will keep me entertained for a few years. Unlike all this other flavor-of-the-month shit.
