Title: Good Multiplayer Single Location XBLA Games?
Post by: Eric P on January 04, 2010, 02:00:28 PM
I have some people coming over but I don't really want to play Rock Band for several hours with these guys.  I was curious if you could suggest any games which could be played by 2+ casual people in the same living room.

I have Castle Crashers aaaaaaand that's about it but am open to almost any suggestions.

All the board game stuff, like Carcassone(sp?) are good times. In fact, get that, so I can play you online.

There are a ton of good fighters in the store, by the way. Something like Marvel vs Capcom 2 is good times, even if they're not big into fighters.

I would suggest a Wii. Seriously.

There are very few 3 or 4 people local co-op games on the 360. Most of the multiplayer stuff is geared towards online play. (Which is perfect for my taste of course but not so great for people who still play local co-op games)

You have some stuff like Bomberman, Castle Crashers, Splosion Man, Peggle, etc but not honestly a lot of that stuff. Some of the shooters are at least co-op so you can have two player action and pass the joystick. Gears of War, Modern Warfare Spec Ops, etc.

Here is a site you can check out.

TMNT > Castle Crashers

TMNT > Castle Crashers

I thought Castle Crashers was a bit over-rated but I think its leagues beyond that awful TMNT game.

Whatever people think about the Wii on here I would argue local co-op is the one thing it has going for it. Mainly because Nintendo targets a younger demo and doesn't care about online at all.

I would play NSMB, Wii Sports Resort, Mario Kart, etc before I touched the 360 or PS3 party co-op stuff.

Brawl would probably be fun if you have some Gamecube controllers

Wii sucks.

Eric P is obviously playing with civilized people, not children. No Wii games.

Yeah and it's actually a lil' expensive when you buy all the expansions - but not nearly as expensive as buying the original board game would be!

Splosion Man is best in local co-op because in online co-op it's near unplayable in the tougher levels.
