Title: ear wax removal
Post by: CHOW CHOW on January 04, 2010, 06:32:36 PM
i can tell i have a bunch of wax in my ears because when i put in my in-ear buds i can hear that crackling noise or whatever.  What i usually do is get a once a yyear appointment with my ENT (ear, nose and throat specialist) but i dont feel like waiting for the appointment, usually takes a month.

so any good over the counter removal stuff?  i saw a removal kit at the grocery store

Just use an ear wax removal kit. Make sure to plug it up and let the acid get in there and break it up, then sort of flush it and suction it out. Might need to go at it twice.

Wow.  Did you know there are two types of of ear wax?
Quote
There are two distinct genetically determined types of earwax: the wet type, which is dominant, and the dry type, which is recessive. East Asians and Native Americans are more likely to have the dry type of cerumen (grey and flaky), whereas Caucasians and Africans are more likely to have the wet type (honey-brown to dark-brown and moist).[6] Cerumen type has been used by anthropologists to track human migratory patterns, such as those of the Inuit.[7] The consistency of wet type earwax is due to the higher concentration of lipid and pigment granules (50% lipid) in the substance than the dry type (30% lipid).[3]

I was always so confused as to why it was called ear wax.  Now I know!  I guess it makes sense as it is an English term.  In Chinese it is referred to as "ear poop".

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

On the plus side, having them taking wax out of your ear is AMAZING. It's like an orgasm in your ear.

Your ears naturally clean themselves after a while. They would push the ear wax out, feeling very odd.
