And none of you fuckers even said mum about it to me?
Well, you can all piss up a rainpipe!
I had a bottle of Heritage Dr Pepper today, and it was like Christmas Morning in my mouth.
-
Weird, I'm actually drinking some Pepsi Throwback right now! ...it tastes just like regular Pepsi though :/
-
^What is it a throwback too? Is this Coca Cola classic again?

Basically its Pepsi but with "real" sugar rather than corn syrup frustose.
There's also Pepsi Natural: http://www.bevreview.com/2009/03/16/review-pepsi-natural/ I'm not sure what the real difference between throwback and natural is but Natural actually does taste subtly different from throwback and regular.
-
there's a real negligible health difference (in both ways) between sucrose and fructose. I'd rather just drink pepsi max or diet or zero or whatever they call it now. the one that's fake sugar.
-
It's nice that Big Kurn let's these companies have little windows of time to sell their product with a competitive sweetener. :heart
-
Pfft, whenever I want real soda with sugar I just have to go down to the Beaner Market at the end of the street and pick some up.
:bow Beaners :bow2
:bow real sugar in my soda :bow2
:piss HFCS :piss2

There's nothing better than drinking Dublin Dr. Pepper in a glass bottle. It's like liquid gold.
-
I have six cases of Mountain Dew Throwback in the basement. I'll probably pick up some more to get me through 2010.
-
I have to say what I always say in these threads:
Everytime I go to the market I look in the soda section for these mysterious "throwback" editions and I've yet to see them for any company. :( Do they only sell them at liquor stores or something??
-
Safeway is one of the only places I've seen Throwback.
-
I haven't seen any of this tastiness in Canada. :'(

Your Mt. Dew is also caffeine-free in Canadia.
-
Mountain Dew is disgusting, you might as well drink battery acid because they'll have similar effects on your mouth

I saw both Pepsi Throwback and Mt. Dew Throwback at "Target"
Dr. Pepper with sugar is God's own soda
-
I wonder where I can get some Heritage Dr. Pepper. Don't like Pepsi and Mt. Dew makes me insane.
-
I've seen bottles of Heritage Dr. Pepper in Seattle, but no cases.
-
And none of you fuckers even said mum about it to me?

I made a thread about Dr. Pepper + Sugar = Crazy Delicious about three months ago, where were you then?? I'm almost to point where I can't drink anything else, I'm so addicted.
-

We have caffeinated Mt. Dew now. It's called Mt. Dew Energy or something.

If you buy Dr. Pepper you can get free DLC for EA games (Bad Company 2, Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age, etc.)*
* Examples, nobody knows what you can actually get

smh smh. It's like it's been made from some mystical tropical fruit picked by virgins. Oh :teehee

Mountain Dew in Japan somehow tastes better. Do they make soft drinks with real sugar here?
-
Mountain Dew is not available everywhere in Sydney. Thank god for the Americans living here :bow2

Saw these last week.
The 12-pack of cans were a lot cheaper than buying bottled.
-
I'd kill for some real sugar Pepsi.
-

Yes and no. I've heard they use a mixture of cane sugar and HFCS.
-
Do these throwbacks or whatever generally taste more or less sweet?
-
Less sweet. The corn syrup is sweeter.
-
that doesn't seem like a benefit.
-
It tastes better and has a different aftertaste.
-
Also healthier for you if I remember correctly.
-
No soda is healthy, but fructose is really so much worse for you than cane sugar is...
I've been reading some shit about high fructose corn syrup, and it's pretty clear that the corn industry is doing some pretty shady shit to keep their product as an ingredient in so many foods even though it's so much worse than sucrose.
-

In what way? fructose tastes sweeter but then also has a lower glycemic index (does less damage to your pancreas per gram than sucrose). That means it is better for diabetics or for preventing diabetes. Some say that the fact that only your liver can process fructose may put too much strain on it but there's nothing to really prove that that's a major health danger.
personally I'd prefer for everything to just be substituted with splenda or olestra or whatever other flavor additive. probably cheaper too.
-
I...just...stopped...drinking...soda...
Damn. Wish I would have known. I actually tasted the Throwbacks when they came out a while ago, but I wasn't a fan of either. I would imagine the Dr. Pepper would be good though.

I have a 12 pack of it.... :-*
Also, as I just said, I have some. I tried it, it's pretty good. A different taste, but I can't really tell if it's better or worse. I enjoy it, nonetheless.

i think it's just that due to gov't subsidies it's so much cheaper than sugars which i think we have tariffs on for many countries

Yeah, the corn subsidies and ethanol production can be really fucked up and do need some overhaul but fat chance of that happening. There's too much lobbying money being thrown around to prevent that even though some things, like ethanol, have absolutely no beneficial use to society. BTW I googled around a little after reading that article and saw this thing:
I assume that corn syrup isn't as popular in Mexico being that a lot of the sucrose sodas are bottled there, right? The thing is that while there is a clear correlation obesity and corn syrup consumption, there is also a clear correlation between obesity and fast food consumption, caloric intake, and lack of exercise. Why people jump on fructose specifically when most obese people had to make a slew of other distinguished mentally-challenged diet decisions never makes sense to me.
