Christopher Lee, famed star of Hammer horror movies, Lord Of The Rings, and much, much more will be coming soon to some earphones near you. Videogum and The Guardian have the news that the 87-year-old actor plans to release a "symphonic metal" album about the life and career of Charlemagne, the first Holy Roman Emperor and a direct ancestor of Lee himself. "To my surprise and indeed great pleasure, I have suddenly found that there is another string to my bow," Lee announced.

Christopher Lee and Max von Sydow are gonna die on the same day (be patient, it'll take a few more decades), it will then be discovered that they were both actually the same person all along.

Christopher Lee continues to succeed in his lifelong goal of being awesome.

I came to post the above.

Lee starred as Saruman in the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. (In the commentary he states he had a decades-long dream to play Gandalf, but said he was now too old, and his physical limitations prevented his being considered. The role of Saruman, by contrast, required no horseback riding and much less fighting. Gandalf was given to Ian McKellen and Lee played Saruman.) Lee had met Tolkien once (making him the only person in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy to have done so), and makes a habit of reading the novels at least once a year.
