You've gone through SIX 360s?  :o

Holy shit. I've never had a single console break on me, and I've got one of those launch PS2 fats that are supposedly prone to breaking. Hell, my launch OG Xbox is still just fine.

Only consoles to break on me were OG Xbox (drive problems, luckily I was under warranty), and a RROD in the 360. But I have a feeling my 360's drive ain't long for this world.

Still better than the Wii.

Sounds like battered woman syndrome to me. Personally, I wouldn't even bother with another Nintendo console if I had to suffer more than 2 bricks from one system-type, but in all fairness, our HD brethren aren't expected to possess a comparable consumer IQ.

Good luck with #7!

It still hasn't cost me an extra cent.

:bow Microsoft :bow2

I wonder if my Wii still works.  I'd get it out of the box to check, but you know...

With the way you're going through your systems, I'd be surprised if any of your consoles work. I suspect this is more the fault of the owner than the product. Take better care of your shit.

Holy shit. I've never had a single console break on me, and I've got one of those launch PS2 fats that are supposedly prone to breaking. Hell, my launch OG Xbox is still just fine.

I have had the following break on me:

-Neo-Geo CDZ (turns out the CDZ has some sort of firmware bug that makes a lot of them fuck up at some point...brilliant!)
-Neo-Geo CD (this led me to drop the CD systems and go cart)
-Two modded Xboxes (and the second "broke" where the chip stopped working, but it works normally)
-Two PSPs (the first one dropped off a counter and the screen was destroyed; the second died from my failing to properly install an internal mod to enable TV-out [this was pre 2000 series])
-Two 360s (The first RRoD'd; the second was fucked right out of the box.  I am actually on 360 #4, but that's because I traded up #3 for a newer model before leaving Japan)

So I've had good luck with Nintendo's consoles and handhelds, and good luck with Sony's consoles.  I've also come across more GBA SPs and DS Lites with dead/stuck pixels compared to PSPs.

No doubt that Nintendo has the most reliable consoles; from my time working at a game shop, we got more PS2s and Xboxes in for repair than anything else.  But with the Wii it's probably because they don't get much use anyway.   ;)

How did Demi get so lucky?  I had one last 4 hours. :'(

Luckily for me I'm smart enough to master tasks like "making phone calls" and "boxing things up" so getting a new one is never tough.
because the repair guys are doing jackshit and it keeps breaking.

I had only one ever breakdown and Microsoft fixed it in a jiffy, and sent me a completely new Jasper replacement unit. Microsoft :rock

My 360 was broken out of the box lol. Fine since I sent it in, though. Only console I've ever had to replace was my PS2 -- once because the laser died, once because some dirty Messicans broke into my apartment and stole it

i've only had one die due to the rrod, one was doa from repair, and the other 3 were DRE related.

not once has msoft sent me a new box which is why i'm considering buying an arcade before my warranty is up in oct. plus the hdmi port would be nice!

my ps2 broke once,i paid for repairs and when it went back it gave weird glitches with some games (like entire building vanishing into jumbling mess with dark chronicle or the water disappearing in ratchet & clank) to this day i still wonder what the heck happened  ???

Going through six consoles in under 5 years is pretty crazy.

My launch 360 got the rrod late last year.  I guess I should be thankful it lasted that long.

My near-launch PS2 got DREs for every CD based game and had trouble with DVDs too.  This was in 2005 or 2006 I think.  I'm pretty sure it was using HD Loader a lot is what killed it.  I guess the irony is that I had all my games on the hard drive, but my PS2 wasn't able to read the HD Loader disk, which was a CD.

Genghis, what happens when you send in your 360 for repairs?  Do you get the same unit back, or a different refurbished one?

I'm worried because I bought a new 360 last May and am wondering what I'll do if it breaks down on me since it's a Japanese unit.  If I send it in, I may get an American unit back...heck, I may get one with an OLDER GPU/CPU back.  I specifically held back on buying a 360 so I could get a Jasper unit. :-\

Xfags buy multiple 360s because they can't get enough of the HD quality gaming. Nfags buy multiple Wiis because they forget they have one

The only system that ever died on me was my Dreamcast, and that was partially my fault as I was playing at amateur maintenance man.

Probably goes for a lot on eBay nowadays.  I should've bought it when it first came out!

...I really need a PSOne just for Tomba.

If every console was like the Wii I wouldn't have to bother taking care of them at all

because i wouldn't play them

least necessary spoiler tag comment in the history of EB?

6 RRoDs sucks, Genghis. I felt a pang of genuine sympathy for a picosecond 'til I remembered you were going to France for a month specifically to drink the place dry.

Death Count :

Spectrum 48k x 1
XBox x 1
PS2  x 2
PSP x 2
X360 x 5

you killed two PSPs? shiiiit. How do you do that, with a Pandora? Did you drop them or something?

i basically fell into a railing with one , shattering the screen - though it was but a tap rahter than a slam.

other unit stopped reading disks and then kept crashing - wasn't haxxed either

First one sounds like your standard glasses/mobile phone/ipod disposal methodology. 2nd one is a bit mysterious, never heard of that issue before.

PSX x0.8 (never died but would eventually only work sideways, not even upside down)
PS2 x1
360 x3

Saturn x1
PSX x1
DC x 0.5 (takes a while to play discs but works, last time I checked...it's modded to play imports, too, which will make it painful since I'd have to get another domestic one if I ever want to play my US games)
Game Gear x1

Nah, just burn one of those DC converter discs to play your U.S. games.
