You'll likely need an hdmi cable.

Well I'm going to plan to watch TV and play games on it. Is it bad for playing games on?
-

Christopher, there's really not that many cables.
You'll have composite, which is an analog signal that's the typical red/white/yellow connectors you've been using forever.
There's component, which is still analog, but you can get a HD signal from (it's what the Xbox 360 uses).
Then there's HDMI, which is completely digital for the best picture.
-
Ah ok well I just really needed the basics explained thanks :-* when I go to these sites I get bombarded by like a hundred different cables.
-
That's damn nice TV Chris. Buying this with your new job money or something? Is it for your frat house?
And this pagangus shit is from OA right? I really can't take it anymore.
-
You need HDMI cables for watching TV and a PS3 if you get one. You can hook your computer up to it. It doesn't say it has composite or component connections.

heh not for the house, just sorta a splurge to put in my room at home to show my dad that I can get nice stuff without his help.
(ofcourse when I finally move out I'll be taking this with me, I see it as a great investment).
yeah papangus is something reirom says in every title, it's sorta his catchphrase.

Actually, you don't need HDMI for watching TV.
The likelihood is that TV has a built-in tuner, meaning with a decent antenna, you can pick up all the local networks in HD over-the-air for free. Even if you get cable or sattelite with HD programming, the likelihood is that you'll be using component for watching TV.
Now, if you're going to get a PS3 or an upconvering DVD player (this plays DVDs and upconverts them to a HD resolution using magick and sorcery) - you'll need a HDMI cable.
Also, what's kind of cool (and I do it), is using your video card's dual display to hook up your PC to your TV and your monitor. I can watch full screen episodes of Battlestar Galactica on the TV while chatting on the PC.
It's neat.
