Seems there will be another PS EYE camera needed? (articles says PS EYE 2 camera).
I think it was an error when reading the press release and it should be PS EYE and the "2" is a numbered reference to the ending of the PR.
a bit closer to Natal it looks like debut wise
-
Sad that Sony's self-potato is pushed back, but at least theirs and Microsoft's will happen at the same time now. Salt the motion control ground in one go.
and isn't RE5 saggle edition coming out soon? what is even going on
-
PS Eye 2 is the one that's out already isn't it?
Doubt they'd make another new one, as the whole point is to use your existing one.
as posted already it could have been a footnote number from the PR
-
vaporware along with natal.
-
I've tried to imagine a game hardware launch of less interest than this, and failed. Even adding another 1000 to the PSP numbering is more exciting. Hell, PS3 firmware updates (new clock!) get my blood moving more than this.

There's just soo much working against the Wand.
I mean, do they really expect people to hold a Dualshock 3 in one hand and the Wand in the other? They must not have the faintest idea of why the Wii is so successful.
And the price of the thing; If it costs anything over $30 and doesn't ship with a free game, then it's doomed from day 1. You can't realistically expect people to put down $40 for the PS Eye, $60 for the game that works with the Wand and then an extra $50-60 just for the Wand itself. It just will not work.
I really think the best idea at this point is to cancel the device altogether. Not only will it ensure Sonys game division doesn't bleed out some more, but the amount of money that would have been spent on marketing and manufacturing the thing can then be used on the development and marketing of 'traditional' games.

Sony has done a real bad job evangelizing this thing. Whatever I think about either product, Natal or the Wand (which isn't much), Microsoft has done a much better job creating buzz at least with the media. And you know they will at least have a huge marketing blowout to go along with it.

It has vibration. :D

Everything I've seen from natal looks like crap, and like stoney said there is very little awareness of the arc.I'm really only interested in eyetoy+ and the sony wagglewand just to see how much gets shaken up.
-
They sold most wiis on fit/play/sports. So the novelty of the controls is definitely what is attracting people.
-
Are you distinguished mentally-challenged? :lol
WiiSports changed the gaming landscape with motion controls. The whole Wii became poopular thanks to the motion controls.
-
TBH, the only thing I like about the Wand and Netal is the fact that they'll extend the consoles' lifespans. I just bought a 360 last year, I want this gen to last a good long while.
-
This E3 is going to be all about the motion control. :rofl
was predicted ever since both showed there stuff and it will be Glorious :lol
-
Natal won't be as successful as some think, while the Sony Wand will definitely bomb.
Sony CAN launch peripherals. Especially in Europe. Singstar mics, Eyetoy camers, Buzz! buzzers.
Microsoft has failed. Vision camera with. uhm... Tiki whatever and Burnout Paradise?
-
I didn't even know that this stupid crap had a projected release date to begin with. :teehee
-
I think Natal will surprise people. Microsoft fully understand that they need a killer software lineup to make Natal a success, because the only major doubts surrounding it are in regards to response time and whether or not traditional/hardcore games can be implemented well on the thing.
We already know Microsoft are going to sell it for cheap, so price shouldn't be a problem. The failure and success of the thing rests solely on the software that supports it.

Can't wait to get my saggle on. :hyper

Microsoft is just plain better at the marketing game. Their solution is a fucking camera and most of the shit they have shown for Natal has been reminiscent of EyeToy games, yet it has received near "Revolution" levels of hype. Got to hand it to them, they have done good with marketing this generation. It's also amazing how people are still allowing themselves to be hypnotized by the chronic bullshit artist Molyneux.
The wand demos were by and large more interesting and should probably work seamlessly with existing non-flailing game formats, but there is just no way this won't bomb.

"Are you all ready to get this E3 started?!"

The Wand/Gem/Arc demos were about showing off potential uses for it. Maybe they didn't explain well enough because a lot of the talk after E3 seemed to miss that it used the PS Eye, something in already in stores that can do a lot of what Natal showed off (granted, not as good); even Eyepet has been out in Europe for a few months now, I think. Fault on Sony for putting the camera out there and ignoring it for all these years. The wand demos were just tech demos, and I'm guessing they expected the viewers to use their imagination to see all the uses a better, more accurate wii remote could have in games. Poor performance on their part. Then again, it is hard to really explain to people (or worse, the Wii audience) how all that techy shit will translate into more fun. Ignorance is a great thing if you enjoyed the waggling for years until Sports Resort and the two or so other motion plus games came out.
Natal presentation was pretty much filled with dazzle and promises and people ate it up. Instead of trying to just show why it's a better thing you already have, they showed off something totally new with full body control. Then there were demos of really broad splashing buckets of paint and shit like that. They also had Spielberg come out and, I don't remember what he said, but Speilberg was on stage! then they showed a video with Molyneux showing a totally real honest video of some daft blond thinking her TV was throwing goggles at her. And now news of the downgrade, only capturing at 30fps, etc. doesn't really change what they were trying to with Natal. For people who thought Natal might have some, you know, practical use in video games it is a slight disappointment, but the audience that bought into the Wii probably doesn't care.
Still interested in seeing how both turn out. I'm 99% certain the Sony wand thing will be a massive failure. Natal maybe has a chance to be popular, but I've given up any hope of proper motion controls.

The only thing Natal does is make it instead of YOU appearing on the screen waving your hands around to hit balls on the screen it's your AVATAR waving his hands around to hit balls on the screen.

I'm surprised Sony intends to release this piece of shit.
They could have just canned it and nobody would have remembered; instead Sony wants to plunge tens of millions of dollars further into debt (what's a few ten millions when you're pushing $5 billion in losses though?) by releasing another stillborn gaming device.
-
Some hint of the awesome new games we'll have to play come Autumn might spark a tiny bit of interest perhaps. Not hearing much though.

The PS3 will have 6 years left of the 10 year life cycle when saggle comes out. Would the wii last 6 more years after next fall?
-
The Wii will last forever. But will the fanboys ever get people to buy 3rd-party games again?

Lifecycle means nothing. look at the HD and the Eye Toy for the PS2. Those disappeared off the retailers shelfs years ago. Sony doesn't support those now either. Look at the PS Eye. Thing is rotting on shelves and in support. EU got more games and software the US got nothing. Sony accessories are never supported, wasted money going after a small percentage of the market. Take the Dildo money and spend it on marketing games and movies. Make more money.

I was just being smug. :smug
