Capcom x Microsoft

2010.01.26

Capcom Title Premiere
for Xbox 360

This pops up on the Japanese Xbox site (as long as you have Silverlight installed, it seems).

What could it be!?

WHAT COULD IT BE!!!

I don't think that Natal is involved, too early.MH,unlikely, but who knows, maybe Capcom wants to crack Western market, coop over Live would be nice.

It's probably exclusive Lost Planet 2 map packs or something equally insignificant.

Oh wait, this is a "title premiere"? I didn't even click the link before (or fully read the OP) since these announcements of announcements always wind up being lame. Now I am kinda hyped for this.

Capcom always seems to take forever to announce and then reveal their stuff.  It took them forever to reveal the five new characters in Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom (even after the list got leaked) and they still aren't done with SSF4, even though everyone knows who's left.

Didn't they already say that they want to release a new version of one of their classic titles for Natal?  It's got to be that.

I'd love a new 2.5D Megaman X type game if they could get the artstyle right and make sure that it's only played from a 2D perspective, but it seems that MM won't be making an appearance on consoles this gen.

It can't be; it's a new title.  But people do think there might be a big SSFIV announcement on top of that.

MH4 would be megaton in Japan

One of these would make the conference interesting, also a Strider game 360 exclusive or something .

Not really seeing anything that will really make this "the laugh at sony" party since the reactions will most likely be multiplat focused ("wah wah why isn't it on PS3 also", "capcom lied", etc).

we'll see though, we'll see

Definitely Jinfash nudes because MH is shit.

Resident Evil 6 X360/PC would be huge and a better announcement.

game doesn't need a full blown mmo-fication. A sort of halfway point like Guild Wars would be perfect for the game.

MH4 would be megaton in Japan

I don't think this would ever happen; if MH3 barely crossed the million mark on the Wii, then the 360 sales would be absolutely disappointing for all parties involved.

As for RE6 being a 360 exclusive; Only if Microsoft pays a very large sum of money for it, because RE5 did very well on the PS3 across multiple territories.

MH for the X360 would be distinguished mentally-challenged. Why would MS pay for that? X360 is dead in Japan and MH won't resurrect it. Hell, MH3 didn't even perform that well on the Wii.

I hope it's better than a MH announcement.

Marvelous was pretty vocal awhile back about how their Wii games (No More Heroes 1, that Arc something RPG, Little King Story, Muramasa) were failures and how they wanted to bring them to other consoles.  Something like that.

CHEAP PORTS FOR MICROSOFT MONEYHATSU.

the fuck?! here's the problem going around the net. This is fucking MASSIVE news. Bigger than Wii MH3, bigger than capcom ps3 exclusives (oh wait, there aren't any)
The downlplaying is fucking hilarious and it's predominantly from people who, when challenged, say shit like "well, i only played 3 hours of MHG anyways"

this isn't just boots down throats

this is so deep that we are adding a third leg out the anus.

Wii owners got owned
Sony fans already burning corpse got some parafin piss added.
Capcom have spoken:

No spin elsewhere cuts it, this is the end game, this is the start of the victory parade.

Was talking the whole "sfags have really though day" part when most of them didn't give a shit and the wii guys took over.

Unless more stuff is in the wings then the statement was meant for the wii guys, hence saying it was off.

Plus the hyperbole your spewing would have been oh more justified if it was a MH 4 or something.

will be looking forward to this since i love MH but i'm hoping NA dont have to pay no fees cuz that will stop my quest right there (or maybe will just buy a month and see how that goes :teehee)

and to add more salt to the wound PS3 was the first next gen system to announce a MH game being made for it but it never got it

Was talking the whole "sfags have really though day" part when most of them didn't give a shit and the wii guys took over

well, Sfags are hardly likely to throw the THIS IS A DISASTER card after being burnt for a second time but this HAS to hurt for Sfag MHers.

No two ways about it , Wii MH was a kick in the nads, X360 MHF is just thrusting red hot needles up an already engorged arsehole.

I guess so but those people are few and far between IMO so its not as epic.

The only two i remembered on GAF that really suffered when wii MH news came out was Defuser and Mickeyknox, i wonder how they are taking this?

wii fans have definitely taken over  :lol

I don't think anyone is going to throw a THIS IS DISASTER card after seeing a $15/month PC port with circa 2004 graphics that basically screams "We couldn't be making less effort to release a product".  I guess Wii fans might, but as we've established that's only because of platform pride and the fact that they don't actually play Monster Hunter.

I have to think that any legitimate fan of the series has either already played this or disregarded it.  It's not like they ported Crysis or something -- a PC capable of running the game probably costs as much as an Xbox.

2) coupled with the "it's better than MHF on PC!" makes me think that not only have they not played MH on previous gens, they have yet to play the definitive version because this is akin to saying "rape THEN murder < Murder then rape"
etc etc etc...

So basically you're saying that rape THEN murder is the definitive version?

I don't get the hype either.  If it was Monster Hunter Freedom 2, then I can understand but this is just a port job.

Oh well, as long as bitter Nintard and Sfag tears flow on cue, the announcement did its job.

He gets Wii games for free if you catch my drift. We're gonna co-op it so my decision is pretty dependent on him.

I didn't know you could play online that way.  I shouldn't be surprised.

Um, MS has been working out a XBL MMO policy, and this may be it.

Lord of the Rings Online, Champions Online, Star Trek Online, and Age of Conan all have Xbox 360 versions finished READY TO SHIP but Microsoft hasn't allowed them past approval yet because they've been working out a MMO Pricing Policy. This $15/month for the MMO+Live could be it.

-New Xbox 360 marketing campaign.

I take back what I said -- a computer capable of running this game cannot be had for the price of an Xbox.  It can be had for far less than that:

1.0 GHz processor, 256 MB of RAM, a video card supporting DirectX 8.1 or higher with 64 MB of VRAM, and a 16bit soundcard

I'm pretty sure you can run this thing on an iPhone or TI-86 calculator.

Lord of the Rings Online, Champions Online, Star Trek Online, and Age of Conan all have Xbox 360 versions finished READY TO SHIP but Microsoft hasn't allowed them past approval yet because they've been working out a MMO Pricing Policy.

Then why did they allow FFXI to ship?  I suspect the problem with those games would be that they would eat up the majority of hard drive space.  WoW is up to a 17GB install......people that received a 20 gig hard drive only have 12 gigs of usable space.

Seeing as playing the JPN version and using English gets your account nuked and IP Banned, it'll be nice to not live in fear!

Hey dcharlie, what does frontier do in the MMO department to make it worth paying $15 a month over free MH2P on PSP?  I looked at the pics and it still looks limited to 4p coop in hunts?  I just don't get why they charge so much for Frontier.

It's an MMO, meaning I know nothing about it.

Hell, there could be an amazing Gundam MMO, and I wouldn't play it because I disagree with paying a monthly fee after buying the game.

That blows my mind that Capcom would outright ban people for using English.  I remember playing Everquest a long time ago and there was a Japanese guild on my server.  None of the members were fluent in English, but they were pretty nice and helpful (and one of the top guilds on the server!)

Anyone who is considering this a failure is forgetting that this was a 360 Japan announcement. Monster Hunter on 360 and not on PS3 is a big deal for 360 in Japan. Until you've seen how many people play this on PSP via wifi, you have no idea of how popular this COULD be. If this doesn't get J gamers to finally give Live a shot, nothing will. (yeah, it probably won't, only 2% of J 360 owners even have Live accounts at this stage :lol)

Just because you wanted it to some amazing new Western-oriented AAA franchise doesn't make this a failure.

That was my first reaction too, but after doing some reading up, I found that it's a somewhat necessary part of the design. Adjusting to the controls is the most painful part of the game's (steep) learning curve, but it is doable. I still sort of suck at it but there are online faqs and stuff to help someone get adjusted.

I used to play the Japanese MMO Master of Epic for a short time.  Since my main computer is using an English OS, I was unable to change my typing style in-game and could only communicate in romanji (although I could understand what they were saying and my romanji did make sense).  Man, if only I could count the times I would immediately be kicked from a group whenever I spoke up!  After awhile I stopped communicating outside of emoticons and Japanese netslang that used English characters, although I ended up quitting the game shortly afterwards.
