How strong are the Bollywood aspects?

About as much waggle as the first game was. Game looks remarkably improved. Lots of jiggle where jiggle should be. RETRO RETRO RETRO up the hoohah. NES game sidejobs <3

Likedddddddddddd

MadWorld is poopoo, and NMH2 only eviserates the poopstain that is MadWorld

Even the Gym is NES style sidejobs. So awesome.

Nice, can't wait to play it!  Those 8-bit style minigames sold me.

Post by: magus on January 25, 2010, 06:36:10 AM
demi is wrong
mad world is decent, the original no more heroes is just plain horrible, repetitive action sequence with tons of boring grunts, crappy "oops i dropped my guard" bosses (and yes it's not like the QTE sequence of mad world are that better) and boring waggle minigame put in the middle to make the entire thing last longer

and to think some people are happy that it's getting ported to the HD consoles...

ABANDON ALL HOPE YE WHO PLAY A SUDA51 GAME

Dude I already thoroughly evicerated any MadWorld fan in my original thread... no need to be another victim. MadWorld is poopoo and NMH annihilates it and the sequel pees on the ashes.

I'm surprised you dont like it. It is uguu wacky jappy.

Post by: magus on January 25, 2010, 06:59:14 AM
nah it doesn't really feel like a wacky japa game to me,sure one of the boss is a superhero and the ending is totaly out of whack (i think the ending is the only thing i like of the game) but that's the extent of the wackiness

i mean mad world had an entire level where the commentator would get pissed off because you were killing aliens and they had blue blood and that was funny and weird... where is the stuff like that in no more heroes?

or there is that bit where you play golf with zombie's head, that was wacky too! both games played horrible but one made me wonder "what they are going to think of next" (which disappointed me a little when they started recycling stuff) and the other just repeated "HEAD TO THE GARDEN OF MADNESS" like a parrot with rabbies

and you know what? pick god hand! that game beat both of them both in wackiness and actual quality of the game

The last boss has an attack that is near unblockable and takes about 1/5 of your life every hit.  I never did any of the gym activities so I got wrecked.  I was enjoying the game until that point.  It is much better than the first because all the open world and money farming bullshit has been cut out.

Edit:  Also the game is much better on the classic controller.  Dodging is a pain in the ass on the waggle setup.
Title: Re: No More Heroes 2
Post by: demi on January 25, 2010, 08:25:32 AM
So because you didnt do any of the side activities you got punished for it, it's the game's fault. Good to know.

Torn between playing this or Bayonetta first.

Bayonetta probably has better mechanics, but NMH2 is SUDAAAAAAAAAA so it'll be fucking awesome and full of surprises from start to finish.

Sounds passable.  Will buy for $10 at the end of the year.  The Wii isn't fooling me this year with another MadWorld  8)

also, I'm not in the mood for action games now or I might try it out at least.  I still need to finish Bayonetta.

I can't believe that there's still no Japanese release for NMH2.  WTF the Wii situation is so fucked up.  Madworld had the same thing and then 8 months later gets released in Japan by Spike instead of Capcom.

I can understand Madworld hate, but Godhand?

I can't believe that there's still no Japanese release for NMH2.  WTF the Wii situation is so fucked up.  Madworld had the same thing and then 8 months later gets released in Japan by Spike instead of Capcom.

This is why I'm glad that it's easy to hack Wiis and use Gecko OS to play the American version!  Also glad to see that you can use a classic controller.  No waggle bullshit is always a good thing.

A GAFfer said it took him around 13 hours to clear NMH2.  Seems like the game goes quicker than Bayonetta, so you may want to play it first.

Title: Re: No More Heroes 2
Post by: Bebpo on January 25, 2010, 03:41:36 PM
wtf, 13 hours seems even shorter than NMH1!  Or maybe that was just as short.  Don't remember.  The overworld stuff and t-shirt collecting added a lot of time.  Maybe 13 hours is about the same.

But yeah, the good thing about Suda games is they have no replay value.  You enjoy the experience and then move on.  As opposed to Bayonetta where I'll probably replay it on multiple difficulties.  So yeah, I think I'll play NMH2 first after I finish up Graces in this week.

Also Lyte, Waggle is good in NMH.  It's the reason why the PS3/X360 port of the original is going to suck.

I can't wait to play NMH2 sans-waggle.   :D

Actually that's probably a sign that the sequel will end up being ported to the real consoles too!

Questions about stuff you unlock/clearing the game:

-How many other playable characters are there?  Just the one girl?

Please explain.  The waggle in the first game wasn't bad for two reasons: the audio/visual feedback from the finishing slash and no real required direction to waggle.  Other decent uses are changing stance and changing the remote.  Terrible uses are everything else, especially motorcycle turning.  All these actions would better on a normal controller and you have the benefit of camera control (NMH1 had a shitty ass camera).  The waggle finishing slash has nothing to do with the act of waggling since Madworld, Tenchu 4, etc. did the exact same thing without the sanctification NMH gave.  The stances could be done the same way it's done for normal games, as in, put in on two buttons.  Unless NMH2 classic controller scheme has no camera control and gimps the player for using a different control scheme (Mario Kart Wii did this) I don't see why it's better to play it that way.

The classic controls are preferable because you will be dodging ALOT on boss fights and having to reach for the DPad on the Wii remote is a pain in the ass.

They have stunts/wheelie on the d-pad, even though it didn't make sense for how the gamecube/classic controller were setup.  If you played with the nunchuck+wii remote (which has far fewer buttons to use, btw) it was mapped to shaking the wii remote.

ok, I lied.  I think I might buy this, but in a week or two.  I wanted to try out that Dolphin Wii emulator on PC, and this ran surprisingly well (20 fps at native resolution...not perfect).  Could only try the classic controller scheme using a 360 pad and it kinda reminds me of God of War with dodge mapped on the right stick.  When I do pick it up, I'll probably play with the wii remote setup.  The CC setup seems to require a lot of analog wiggling and I actually hate that more than waggling.  But hey, at least the finishing move from pushing the analog stick in a certain direction feels as good as it did when waggling in a direction.  It depends on how it plays with a wii remote + nunchuck.

How does it work with the wii remote + nunchuck setup? from what archie said, dodge is mapped to the d-pad, and if it's like the first game, then A is slash and B is punch, and whether you're aiming up and down changes what style of attack it is? Z is probably lock-on and C is camera reset.

Oh, and the game was fun of what I played.  I forgot how shallow NMH combat is, and I think I can get into that even though I'm a bit burnt out on DMC style stuff.

I was curious if they fixed the waggle so it only works in the way you move your controller.  The original game was like, here are some motion qtes, but you don't really need to do them right.

The presentation and visuals in this game are so incredibly slick.  It plays great using the classic controller too.  I don't see the game play being any more "boring" without the waggle stuff.

I will only get it if someone confirms the English language track is also available.  Otherwise yeah, will wait.  I forget if the Japanese version (not sure about the Asian one) is going to be censored like the Wii version was.

I just killed the poison bitch. None of the bosses have been as interesting as the first one's. The levels arent as interesting, and the weapons dont have any differences (only noticable when you equip them, one is heavy, one is quick, one is all-round).

The NES minigames are A+ (except the space one YUCK), but I just unlocked one that isnt a NES game so I immediately quit out of it.

Still really like the game though. My god do I like it. We need more games with tons of FUCKING SWEARING

That's really weird that the audio was in English, seeing how they hyped up the fact that HD version was going to be in Japanese. I'm guessing this will bomb in Japan and I'll be able to get it cheap while I'm there. I don't know why, but I'm not too hopeful that someone will pick this up for North America.

I'm near the end - Rank 3 - and if I had to sit down and think, I would say this ISNT as good as #1. There are a lot of changes and aesthetic things (right word?) that do not make NMH2 the same. I'll still finish it before I put all these in handy bullet points.

I may have to take back that GOTY claim. I did say so far, and now that I have Mass Erect 2...

Right, I said that they cut the fat, but the game just isnt interesting this time around. The bosses are stale and have no character. The sidejobs are great but theres nothing to buy. I'm at the end of the game and I've only had to buy 2 swords. Everything else is clothing related. That's exactly what the game is, no fat. It doesnt even do that cool robot voice when you start a battle. "Letzzz Shake"

Even the main game is cut. "You killed 1 person, but due to story, we decided to chop you from Rank 30 to Rank 10, just cuz. Aren't we wacky?" Initiating Dark Step is much harder, and even charging your weapon is more aggrivating. You also get juggled a lot by the taco gun people, and you can find yourself mashing buttons (humping air) so you can hop back up.

From what I read, there isnt even a special ending fight like Henry from #1. It's obvious this game wasnt meant for a sequel, but I guess they had to make do.

Not one character matches up to Bad Girl, let alone have any cool music like her. There's even a level involving platforming, and you know that works out well.

If anything, this makes me want the HD port that much more.

I caved and got this yesterday. Played through the Shinobu battles and digging it. Visuals are what they are, it's a Wii game and one with a modest budget at best. What I'm hoping happens with the inevitable HD port of this is that both NMH games get bundled together in NA. I'd pay $50-60 for the two combined in HD especially since I only borrowed the first one from a bud.
