Holy shit this is awesome :rofl
The Star Trek: The Next Generation movie BluRay set includes a new commentary track on Insurrection by Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis...the whole thing is a MST3K/Rifftrax laugh fest.
They start off by making fun of the cast names in the opening credits and then mock and laugh at the whole movie.
This single commentary track completely makes up for the Nemesis-labeled coaster that the set comes with.

Awesome, I'll have to check that out. I got the TNG boxset for Christmas, but I haven't had a chance to go through it yet. Even though a lot fans wanna hate on Insurrection, I kinda like it, it's way better than Nemesis. Star Trek V is better than Nemesis, though.
-
Insurrection is just a sixth or seventh season TNG two-part episode filmed like a movie. It gets crapped on all the time, but it doesn't really deserve it as it's so much better than both Generations and Nemeshit. I'm just pissed that the DVD and the BluRay doesn't include the Quark scene from the end because it's AWESOME. Quark comes to the Ba'ku planet to set up a resort casino and Picard shoots him down and tells Worf to take him back to DS9 and Worf's all annoyed and is like "Do I HAVE to?" :lol
The commentary is hilarious. Sirtis hadn't seen the movie since the premiere and keeps making this hilarious discoveries and Frakes keeps yelling at her "YOU'VE SEEN THIS MOVIE!" :rofl
It's great when Frakes is saying "well this was an odd-numbered movie, and you know what happens to those. But that got thrown out the window with Nemesis." :rofl It's hilarious to see the TNG cast talk about Nemesis as they hate it just as much as the fans. The only one who doesn't trash it much is Spiner.

Was Insurrection the one where they have to crash land the Enterprise on a planet (where most of the movie takes place)? Yeah, that definitely felt like a TV show if so. Nemesis also needs rifftrax-style commentary.
-
No Generations was where they crash the Enterprise.
-
No Generations was where they crash the Enterprise.
I'm confused; Insurrection is the one on the planet revolving around a community living there, right?
-
Yes. The fountain of youth planet and Salieri is the villain.
-
I liked Nemesis when it first came out, but I haven't really watched it since then. Although I do remember thinking that it really wasn't that great as a final TNG movie, the last episode of the series felt a lot more like what Nemesis should've been.
It's probably been at least as long since I've since Insurrection. All I remember is Captain Picard singing, which was pretty awesome.

NEMESIS SUCKS

Nemesis sucks so much it KILLED Jerry Goldsmith.
-
Wrong. First Contact is awesome.

While I agree for the most part with ManaByte, you have to realize this doesn't mean he has good taste or anything. I mean for fucks sakes, he was genuinely upset when they canceled Enterprise. Seriously!
-
Season 4 of Enterpirse, when Berman and Braga were locked in the broom closet and Manny Coto convinced the Reeves-Stevens to write most of the episodes, was better than all seven seasons of Voyager. Then the janitor had to let Berman and Braga out, they saw how good the show was without them, and they cancelled it.

That guy's a distinguished mentally-challenged fellow as Insurrection IS better than Generations, Nemeshit, and Final Frontier.
-
All TNG movies are shit. At least Final Frontier had those bookends with Kirk, Spock, and McCoy camping.

Absolutely not shit in any way. Movie is equal to Kahn.

You obviously missed Starship Mine where Picard jumps off the roof of Nakatomi Plaza with a big ass explosion behind him:

The Nemesis, Generations and First Contact reviews aren't particularly kind either.
-
His First Contact review where he points out how Geordi zooms in on Cochrane and then looks right in Riker's face had me :rofl
-
According to Rotten Tomatoes:
First Contact = 92%
Insurrection = 55%
Generations = 45%
Nemesis = 37%
RT knows what's up.

Khan is an actual good movie. First Contact may be a good Star Trek movie, but it's not a good movie by any means.
I repeat, all TNG movies are shit.

That's because Spiner gets to be a beautiful, unique snowflake in it.
None of the Next Generation movies really understood what made the series so good: an ensemble cast. Each TNG movie is a showcase for the two "real" thespians, Patrick Stewart and Brett Spiner. But without the full interaction across the bridge crew, it all looks like drama club showboating.
-
Well they tried to get back to the "family" with Insurrection. Frakes talks about that in the commentary. Basically they pulled Piller from DS9 for the movie and his mandate was to put the focus back on the family, but they got a subpar script in the end.
-
I never saw the hate for Insurrection. It was alright. Honestly, I sort of enjoyed all the Trek movies other than Final Frontier and fucking NEMESIS.
God, Nemesis makes my brain boil. Fuck that movie.
-
What's worse? Nemesis or These are the Voyages... (final episode of Enterprise/the end of Star Trek on TV).

Honestly, I NEVER liked Enterprise. I quit watching after the first season. I read the plot synopsis though and it's just dripping fan fiction. Shows how bad Enterprise was though, they had to get TNG characters to bail the SERIES FINALE out.

SyFy is doing an Enterprise marathon on Monday and then 18 hours of TNG on Tuesday.
-
I thought the MILF in Insurrection was pretty hawt.
NEMESIS should be accorded the same respect for the original cast movie that Shatner directed.

That wasn't ENTIRELY his fault. He did his best with the 25cent budget they gave him.
Nemesis on the other hand...
When they made First Contact and Insurrection Patrick Stewart said they must get a director that knew Star Trek and it wouldn't work with someone who didn't know Trek. They offered First Contact to Ridley Scott and McTiernan. Then with Nemesis they went and got a distinguished mentally-challenged fellow who didn't even know there was a Star Trek TV show and didn't even know the names of the cast (he called LeVar Burton "Lavernne" the whole time).
