Hopefully it won't control like shit like the first one did.

That's rather comical. I wonder how they'll work them into the story. If they even bother to try that is.

It'll be like one of those old Marvel/DC crossovers where Spider-Man meets Superman. At first, they will assume the other is an ENEMY and they will FIGHT, and then they will discover they are NOT ENEMIES and then they will find a BIG ENEMY to fight TOGETHER. ;)
-
That's actually kinda cool. :lol

Lost Planet 2 bundle
Microsoft is putting forth its best effort in the hope that Japanese consumers who want to play Lost Planet 2 won't just buy it for the PS3, which they already own. The company has announced a Lost Planet 2 Xbox 360 bundle, to be released May 20 for ¥24,800 ($265) in Japan.
The set includes a 60GB Xbox 360 with a D-connector HD cable, the game and a headset. It'll also include bonus Lost Planet content -- on a 2GB USB stick; taking advantage of the new Dashboard update that allows such drives to be used as 360 storage devices! This bonus seems destined to become a standard for special-edition Xbox 360 bundles.

360 slim incoming...
-
yeah and they're probably ditching the memory card slots for USB ports.
-
Demo was garbage - again
Took this off my GameFly...
-
yeah, the versus demo was bad. the monster hunter co-op one was fun, and I liked versus in LP1, but versus in LP2 is bad bad. It's just a bunch of staggering and grenade spam.
-
My little confession is that I didn't especially like the original Lost Planet and in general I don't like the way Japan handles nearly all of their "shooter" games. They feel weird and not natural after playing years of American shooters.
I really want to like Lost Planet 2 though because it looks cool but I have a feeling deep down I won't.
-
In general you can avoid grenade spam by having alternatives, but it seems like grenade spamming is the best option. Guns are like peashooters in this game and they haven't improved any of the movement controls to let you dodge the grenades, which have a huge blast radius btw, since the first game. You have a pissy little run now, but it is an awkward locked animation.

Demo for the MP

Feels typically Japanese as a MP shooter.
Meaning I'm pretty sure I won't touch the MP part.

This is what I want to do but impressions have been saying that the whole game is multiplayer-centric. I don't want to miss out on that.
Is the Bore going to get together for some LP2 goodness when it comes out?
-
Nope
-
I'm interested to try the co-op campaign. I'll probably gamefly it for that and try to play with anybody who gets it here. But I can't see that MP really pulling me away from the games I already currently play MP.
-
Nope
Really? Pass, then :lol

demi was right.
-
Sounds like Japan still doesnt get it... lol
-
http://The controls remains as clunky as they were last time around, and deviate from the standard third person layout in perplexing ways. Want to melee? That's the B button. Want to run? Well, that's also the B button. Want to activate that data post or Vital Suit? We've got a B button for that.
:lol
-
This game is a full of fail.
What the hell went through the design team's mind i'll never comprehend. Lets get rid of the single player since Lost Planet 1 sold due to the MP, let's make CO OP the big thing, let's completely do away with the characters and focus on delivering a Monster Hunter kind of thing.
What the fuck. Couldn't they had made a new game? Instead of calling it Lost Planet 2????
-
How does the Gears of War stuff play in? Is it single player stuff?
-
I'll probably pull this one out of queue.
Had issues with the first and if IGN who likes everything doesn't like the second, I have a feeling I'm not going to like it either.
-

Yes they do. Patch to "unlock" gameplay fix: 500ms points.

Why dont you, faggit

Thanks, you just saved me bandwith and a DVD9-disc.

I will be eternally grateful.

Wait is the game leaked early?
-
How about you guys rent the game and judge it yourself instead of letting a game reviewer tell you what to do.
I didn't especially like the first. I didn't like the multiplayer demo. And a review site that slobbers over any and everything also says its bad.
That's enough for me to not rent it unless hands on impressions from other people are terrific.
-
Wait is the game leaked early?
Yep, like two days ago.
-
I'm still getting this. I enjoyed the original's multiplayer quite a bit, and the demo was pretty fun. Don't think I care too much about the co-op and wish that there was a story mode like the original had, however.

Gamespot review: 5.5
http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/lostplanet2/review.html
Capcom is really turning a tide. Went from making great "next-gen" games, to shitty ones like this, Dark Void and Bionic.
I hope Capcom won't rape my Resident Evil. Oh wait, they already did. Let's just hope they won't ruin Dead Rising. Though I fear the worst...
-
capcom was never good anyway.
-
What, LP2 sucks? Fuck. What's happening to Capcom this gen ffs.

The first one was trash too. Lost Planet wasnt a good IP to begin with.

I enjoyed parts of the first one, but the only problems I had were glaringly obvious design flaws that I expected would be fixed the second time around. I guess not.
-
I don't think the original reviewed that well anyway, so whatever. I really liked the multiplayer demo of LP2, and I played the hell out of the first game online. You can't go into LP thinking it'll be like Gears or whatever, it's a very unique experience and requires different tactics. I'll definitely be grabbing this day one!

The first one was an ok arcade action game. Like playing an old quarter shooter similar to contra in 3d. The controls were kind of bad and the story was lolz, but it was decent. People liked that multiplayer though.
I would've cared about LP2 if it had a single player like the first game but with better controls and cooler stages/bosses. Don't care about MH so LPMH2 doesn't do anything for me.
-
So this is now like Western MH?
Boring and frustrating to play alone, but fun with friends...booo
Apparently checkpoint system is lol and if you play alone you have to play like four people because the AI is shit.
-
Did some multiplayer versus and it was a lot of fun. The controls feel tighter than the original and the use of B for multiple actions is not a problem. There's some little nods to other games like custom tags ("Street Fighter," "BSAA," "I've covered wars you know," etc.) and character parts (Servbot head, Frank West backpack) available too. You can choose from five character factions (Rounders, Fight Junkies, Snow Pirate Elites, NEVEC Black Ops, and Femme Fatales) and customize their looks, emotes, abilities, weapon types, and tags by unlocking stuff and leveling up.
I have a feeling that the game's major problems are in its campaign mode, but that's not why I bought it. I loved LP1's multiplayer versus.
-
well gamestop forced me into a purchase (tried to cancel last week and was told it had already been packaged) so if anyone wants to do some co-op or versus hit me up. GT: xeroxinlola
-
I'll play with ya. I rented it from Blockbuster. GT: FatalT
-
i pre-ordered it online and called to cancel friday but gamestop had already put a hold on my card and i was told they had packaged it already so i couldn't cancel.
just another reminder for myself to never pre-order with them and just go with amazon.
they devil tempted me with 25% off orders over a $100 and i bit like a sucka!
-

We've got to do some more co-op tonight. I'm not getting the hate. Then again I enjoyed the first one.

Same. The game is a blast. I spent almost all night playing multiplayer (hit level 16) in between bouts of SSF4, and started campaign with some random players. I'm not having any problems with the game, but like you I enjoyed the original. Maybe part of the problem is that people expect the game to play like your typical western-developed shooter, and LP does not. Payola-Famitsu gave it 8,8,9,8 IIRC. I'm seeing a few Japanese players (it's not out over there until next week) already on; one guy was already leveled up in the 50s. :o Tons of European players too. The original was the same way.
-
I finished the campaign last night. When you beat the game you unlock Marcus and Dom from Gears of War and the ability to use your custom character in the campaign instead of the default people. It took maybe 8 hours or so (that's including the time I spent playing with Cravis too though). It's definitely a game that's better than the low reviews it received. I tried a multiplayer match but didn't like it because it was just free-for-all so I'll have to get into a team game sometime tonight. I got all the way up to level 33 with one faction and 29 with another faction just from playing as them in the campaign. :D

You can choose to only do team elimination matches if you want to. This is one of the few games where I also like team-based matches where everyone starts with sniper rifles...played in a four-on-four match and was able to sneak up on the other team and take them all out with a VS they weren't using that was right near where they were all camping. :lol I don't like that ranked only offers three games types. Player matches have more, but most people seem to be only doing ranked. Love the "Cube" multiplayer stage. It's a small-sized map inside an arena, with an audience cheering for you and an announcer making some light commentary. :lol
That's pretty cool that you can level up from the campaign, too. Certainly explains all those high-level players I've been seeing!
How do you get Wesker? Is he a pre-order bonus from somewhere?

This shit makes me worried for dead rising 2

It does look a bit sparse but I think that's the level's design.

I'm not sure about Wesker. I kinda just had him when I started playing. I did play through all of Resident Evil 5 though so I'm not sure if that's what you need to do to get him or not.

Try going to the Presets and scrolling all the way down to the bottom. You should have Wesker down there. Maybe even Frank West too if you played Dead Rising.
