:o holy shit! I'm assuming it's the same dev team behind Strider? (or at least a damn close imitator.)
shiren the wanderer,it just seemed dumb to pimp it out again in this thread, the third one get released in the US around this week (i've heard some saying 9 february and some saying 6 february) and it also got a port on psp with added stuff but currently the port it's japan only, alternatively the 4th one gets released near the end of the monthOhh right. Thanks. I used to have a big boner for stuff like Azure Dreams, so I'll have to check it out.

Skyblazer started off pretty great, but the rotating tower level pisses me off to no end, especially the disappearing blocks with barely any window of opportunity to jump on them before they disappear. Never made it past that part (and it's stage 1-4 or something) :-\I actually remember raging at the exact part you're talking about :lol That segment is actually pretty short though, and it isn't so bad if you just jump before the blocks even appear. You should try again! The boss is right past that iirc, and there are so many awesome levels after that one.
LOVED Outfoxies as a kid, that was one of the few arcade games our corner arcade carried. Gonna MAME that bitch right now for old time's sake.
Another oddball we had at that arcade:

Canon Dancer looks pretty damn impressive, I'll check that out too.
I need to pick up Tobal No. 2. Friend in college had that and we'd spend hours wasting time with it.I should peek to see if it is available on the Playstation Store. It may be; it was released on platinum classics, or whatever Square was labeling their PS1 re-releases last year (or 2 years ago?).

I don't think it's on the Playstation Store.

I'd buy it for PSP in an instant, even though there'd be no 2P support. The game's AI was crap, but it was perfect in multi.
Quest mode was great in Tobal 1..never beat it though, it's fucking hard! In Tobal 2, it's like a full fledged RPG, right?I beat it once in Tobal 1, hadn't figured out enough Japanese at the to get through Tobal 2's more robust one. But, yeah, it was like it had a whole 'nother game in it, a top-down overworld and dungeons and items, all draped around Tobal's control scheme.

This is kind of messy, so excuse the formatting. But about a year or so ago I came to gaf with a question in mind: were there any adventure games in this day of age of the classic & unforgettable quality of the Sierra/Lucasarts adventure games of the 90s. The first recommendation was The Chzo Mythos, a 4 game series comprised of 5 Days a Stranger, 7 days a skeptic, Trilby's Notes and 6 Days a Sacrifice.
While I took in the recommendation, I waited to see what else others would recommend. Yet after playing many adventure games of the last decade, that first reply hit the nail on the head. The Chzo Mythos is the best mystery adventure you can go in in the post 2000 era of videogaming...and it's freeware.
Each of the games is short. 1-2 hours, so about 6-8 hours for the entire story. Each is great, though my first reaction after finishing 5 Days a Stranger was "hmmm, it's good but I don't see why the series is so well regarded". But then 7 days a skeptic had me on the edge of my seat and was a lot of fun.
And then Trilby's Notes hit. Trilby's Notes is IMO one of the top10 adventure games of all time. The gameplay, the ambience, the STORY is all extremely well done. It is the Metal Gear Solid 3 of the series and I must play game for any fan of mystery, horror, or good writing or good gameplay in general.
Finally 6 Days a Sacrifice was very interesting and though I wasn't a big fan of the eventual ending to the series, it was well written and very original and took a lot of risks.
All in all it was an extremely memorable experience. It's been a year+ since I've played the series but I still think about it often, about how well done parts were and what bars it set for modern day adventure gaming to achieve.
So I just wanted to say, thanks gaf. If it wasn't for you I would never have experienced this great game and sprawling storyline. If anyone who reads this has their interest peaked and checks it out, that's the best I can do in return and then if that person loves it he or she can recommend it to others and over time more and more people will get to experience this fantastic series (and a multi-award winning one at that!). So again, thanks gaf. and I cannot recommend The Chzo Mythos enough.
Here are the download pages (make sure the games are played in the right order!):

The Chzo Mythos
I posted this over on gaf but it fits here too. Really, really great games that barely anyone has played. I think if the games had gotten more exposure (XBLA or something), Yahtzee would be making the big bucks like Tim Schafer since between zero punctuation reviews and this, he definitely knows the problems most videogames suffer and isn't all just talk as he actually made a darn good game (trilby's notes).Quote(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/bebpo/454c8078.jpg)
