the only company with a large hard drive built right into every system they sell doesn't want you downloading full games your money
genius

Meh, I don't like the idea of downloading retail games to your console.
I'd rather have a physical copy when I buy something. So I don't really care.
-
I'm quite the opposite. I don't want a bunch of gaudy boxes in my living room. I'd rather have everything stored neatly on my hard drive.
-
Game boxes do look ugly in a living room IMO. But I store games in a place where people can't see them.
I just like to have a physical copy of something that I've bought. It's also easier for taking the game to a friend, etc.
-
Archie u dont have anyone over why do you care
-
honestly, MAG would have a tiny bit more appeal if it was a downloadable game. Now if you see a friend playing it online, you have to go and find the blu-ray before you can jump in. Convenience is underrated.

I like owning a physical copy of something that I've paid for. As long I take care of it, they can never take it away from me, unlike a digital download.
And yeah, games are hidden in cupboards at my house.

Is this the same company that released a donwload only portable device?
Hard to tell.
:lol
-
i really don't think it's an issue of bandwidth or hdd storage space, as per the claims made
i think it's more their investment in selling blu ray, as well as people finding out that the vast majority of those 25-50GB games are filled with padding because of the slow drive (a lot of the 360 full game downloads are smaller than they are on the disc, as well)
seriously, you're not going to be downloading 50GB games because 50GB games don't exist for you to download
i like discs better myself, but if one of your selling points is a huge hard drive, you should maybe sell some games to put on it

It's also the same company that has invested billions of dollars into a high-definition disc format that is currently being used in one of their flagship products.
-
That's a shame, I would love to download games I know I won't end up selling. Being able to boot shit up straight from the HDD is neat.
-
50GB games? :lol
Is there a single PS3 game that has filled a dual layer BD yet?
MGS4. But it's all relative. As a programmer you fill the space as needed. File compression and such come into play as you hit limits. So even a PS3 game taking up more room than a 360 one isn't an indication of anything.
-
MSG4 is not 50 GB game, rough size is about 32 GB.

We've had this discussion before, but there's the obvious plusses and minuses to both. You can lose physical copies of games or they can get damaged. You don't have to worry about this with downloading games, plus you have benefits like potentially-faster loading off the hard drives and quieter hardware. I'm all for digital downloads as long as they are always available to download and not removed from the e-store by a company later on.
I got my dedicated nerd room for all my games, but an entire wall is taken up by my collection. I'd love to be able to downsize it and have everything available on a few consoles.
-
Don't chu know? Every PS3 game fills up a 50GB BD :smug

PSP Go is going to die ont eh vine. Sony can't get it's head on straight about a Digital Store. They can't offer enough titles at a reasonable price. So what do? Offer less games then before and keep the prices insane.

Year of Sony

It's like they don't get it. Steam has sales and touts the success. 360 Does the XBLA deals of the week, touts success. PSN Has quarterly sales. The games on sale are the top downloads. But yet, they don't implement, regular discounts, or games specials. They took almost 2 years to Greatest Hits Uncharted. It's like they think milking the public will gain massive profit. OTOH MS Platinums games quick, and is quick to reduce prices. I have an even number of gmaes for 360/PS3, but I've bought far more games as of late for the 360.
-
Probably because the PS3 is drowning in red ink and Sony can't really afford to undercut any potential profit whatsoever for the PS Family. I highly doubt that the senior Sony executives allow any kind of leeway for the PlayStation these days unless it is approved by them first.
