Anyone else notice that any game/videogame-related enterprise gets instant gamer cred if you have the word "pixel" in it? Pixeljunk, Broken Pixels, Axel and Pixel, a shit ton of Xbox Indie games and PC games, dead pixel, etc. etc. It's more ubiquitous than "Super" on a SNES game.
Starting to feel patronized when I see that word in anything game related.

Yes.

cool. I was just wondering if anyone else, as in, any other single person had noticed. Now that I have confirmation, this thread can be locked.

"Pixel" is now cool because of the minimalist approach to Web 2.0. It doesn't really get much more minimalist than "pixel."
In the future, we'll be playing Voxeljunk Shooter.

pixel is the hipster of gaming

I'd say more in video games it's popular because of Cave Story, but maybe I'm wrong.
Either way, this doesn't really bother me. I don't care what games are titled, I care what they play like.

same here. it's just an interesting phenomenon to me. I think it has more to do with 8-bit/16-bit nostalgia, which pushed games like Cave Story.

I'd like to see the 3D Dot Game genre take over.

I never noticed. But it's mostly development house names that have it isn't it? SNES Days every game had super in it. Super F-zero, super castlevania, super r-type, etc. That was bad.

Name change to Zero Pixel please. :smug
