stupid name

stupid name
lol.
I thought the same. Sounds like something they came up with in France.
Apparently there will be a teaser video on Xbox Live later that hopefully shows some hint of gameplay.
-
We know :D
Yeah the name is stupid(GRFS),but so is Wii,360,PS3,etc...people will get used to it
-
yeah the game will be great (hopefully).
GR Predator sounded better.
-
Sounds like something DOLPH LUNDGREN :punch :punch would play.
:lol
-
This can go fuck itself. Back to basics, you morons, not further into tech warfare land.
As for the name, that's the name of the military program.
edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Future_Soldier
-
Holy shit, people elsewhere are in all seriousness accusing Ubi of "cashing in" on Modern Warfare. :wtf
-

Well that makes a bit more sense although it still sounds like a bad name.
They were always going to do essentially another take on GRAW. It was popular and its more relevant to the current market than the prior take on the series.
I liked GRAW. Played the first one a good deal although I had some issues with it. (like the matchmaking and lobby system they had)
-
Meh. Here was the trailer. No actual game footage at all.

Also apparently there is a Wii version coming.
Ubisoft’s just confirmed it’s developing a Ghost Recon title specifically for Wii.
Nothing else was mentioned on it other then it’ll be created just for the system, and it’ll be different then Ghost Recon: Future Soldier for PS3 and 360, which was just announced today.
No release date was announced.
-
No no no fucking god damn it jävla fucking helvete
Active camo god damn it kuk fitta satan
-
Meh. Here was the trailer. No actual game footage at all.
I'm tired of this shit.
-

That's just the way the industry runs now.
You make an announcement of an announcement. Your first trailer then announces the game. And you slowly dribble out information for months until it releases.
At least this has a beta. You'll know everything you need to know by summer I suppose.
-
I like Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 3: Future Soldier better.
-
Day 1
can't wait to try all the prototype future weapons and gadgets etc
the more AAA blockbuster shooters the better
multi-player is gonna be amazing too
-
GHOST RECON: ADVANCED WARFIGHTER IV: FUTURE SOLDIER: SPACE WARFARE will be the best.
-
It's been run into the ground because it's using high-tech warfare?
-
It's been run into the ground because it's using high-tech warfare?
That's all it is, tech. You fight dudes with a bunch of tech, with the legacy Ghost Recon aspect placed far in the background. GRAW was good in multi and co-op precisely because that tech shit was auxiliary. Basically, Red Storm made a reasonably proper GR, Ubisoft made Ghost Recon Holodeck. I'm sure this will be a good game, but it's not like there is a drought of tech-heavy shooters. Barebones tactical shooters, on the other hand, are pretty much all gone.

I'd be more impressed by that shit if the prototypes featured in the previous games hadn't pretty much all been ditched at the planning or prototype stages.
-
Looks amazing, can't wait to play it. Ghost Recon is playable again. Woot
-
Altogether is a real GR fan I can see how he is furious over this.
Basically the franchise has been ran into ground by UbiSoft.
No he's not. He's just making a stink, like -every- -single- game- -released- -in- -the- -past- -year-.
I've played more GR than him, and this looks amazing and what the series needed.

Well, it looks like the GRAW boxes.
But in the future.

All the military shooter cover art looks similar. Modern Warfare did not create it!
-
Yeah, it sort of comes with the territory. Also see: Bad Company 2.
-
PROFILE SHOT OF MILITARY BADASS THAT LOOKS BADASS is nothing new.

stupid fake computer sounds - check

The only GR games I've played are the two on the 360 but the only "tech" I remember using regularly was the UAV, and that felt sort of necessary with all the open fields you had to run across.
-
wrong thread
-
The UAV was part of the whole crosscom thing. You control the UAV and other vehicles, see stuff from the perspective of your team mates, locate enemies and even keep tabs on their health level, and whatnot. GRAW was all about that, to the point where it felt more like a clunky RTS than a shooter, least of all one of the GR sort. Combined with the air support thing, there wasn't much of a "ghost" feel to any of it.
I can deal with the techno stuff, but I was hoping that it'd be reigned in a bit and made into auxiliary features as opposed to main attractions and gameplay tools.

yeah the micromanaging and the lack of stealth were definitely problems, especially in GRAW2. It sounds like they're going to reboot the franchise again though so hopefully they'll address those problems.
-
To their credit, GRAW2 had some insanely awesome Blackhawk gunner moments, and the battle moments were intense. And I can't wait to see what the explosions must look like in the new one.
-
"The soldier of the future is an F16 on legs," announces OPM's preview, which notes that because most of the fancy tech from the last Ghost Recon is now reality (UAVs, helmet HUDs) Ubisoft's having to push the series forward in Future Solider - and it has.
The next game takes place 10-15 years after Advanced Warfighter and has the Ghosts out to stop an ultranationalist group that's managed to depose the Russian president.
As the game name suggest, the Ghost team are now packing futuristic gear like stealth cloaks (as seen in the Ghost Recon: Future Soldier trailer), armoured ground drones and exo-skeleton legs (to carry more gear).
The latter in particular is a game changer, as it means the Ghosts are now more agile and can jump, roll and generally throw themselves around the battlefield. It also opens the window for close quarters combat, which you'll be seeing a lot of in Future Soldier.
4-Player drop in, drop out co-op is promised and controversially, no squad commands what-so-ever. Character classes also play a pivotal role in the new game, with players receiving specific, unique bonuses for their chosen role (optical camo for Recon, heart sensors for Snipers, shoulder mounted missiles for Commandos).
Hmmm......
-
Yeah, fuck this. Halo Recon indeed.
-
Sounds like some badass stuff.
Go cry in the corner ducky.
-
I'm with Wrika. Who cares if it's not like previous incarnations if it's fun.
-
Well be happy then, since hoverskating maximum strength + cloak shooters without any tactical planning options is pretty much all we get these days.
-
This is one of the very rare times I'm slightly in agreement in with duckman.
It's a bit sad that the pressure of other games has most likely had them remove one of the unique elements that distinguished their games from others on the market. But it is what it is I guess.
I'll still play and enjoy it if its a good game. I enjoyed GRAW. But I did kind of like the ability to order my group around. That's one of the last things that set Rainbow 6 and GRAW apart.
-
I'll give it a shot, but generally I'm with ducky. But I'll give it a chance. I loved GRAW even though the huge changes didn't really make it a GR game. Goddamn did I love GRAW though.
-
So it's not a squad shooter anymore, but an FPS/TPS?
Ehhhh. I was never big on the series (finished the first one, still haven't played more than the first stage of the 2nd), but the slower paced "order people around" strategy was what made it different from your average war game and made it worth taking a look at.
I wonder if R6 will ditch squads next.
-
Like with Splinter Cell Conviction, I'm fine with it being different as long as what it is now is good on its own. I kinda wish it was a squad based game, but I'm not writing this off. forgot these are both Ubisoft games lol
at least there is socom 4 for tactical action! right? right?
-
I don't really care too much because your squad's AI sucked, making them pretty useless as anything other than a decoy (it was nothing like R6). Ordering the vehicles around was cool though.
-
More CG trailers. ::)

If they can give me the experience of controlling those different guys and squads in single player I'll be in heaven. I love the team oriented game play of the past few 360 ghost recon's but thought they lacked the planing and execution of the first games from pc. That video was awesome!
-

Uh, they removed all of that. Which, given how god awful the A.I. has been in the Ghost Recon games, sounds fucking terrible.
Anyway, they sure do know a few things about marketing. That was a sexy trailer, although it's about as useful as that ODST trailer.
-
I don't know how to feel about this. I think I'm going to like what they changed with the new Splinter Cell but this is sort of reinventing the wheel. I don't mind if they essentially abandon the original premise of the series as long as the game is good but showing a trailer like that (where maybe 3-5 seconds are stuff you actually do in the game rather than watch during a cutscene) is making me skeptical.
Will wait and see.
-
Looks amazing, cant wait to play this worthy addition to the prestigeous Ghost Recon family

I almost didn't even post the trailer because I hate CG trailers and think they are completely useless and one of the worst gimmicks going. As far as the actual game, as always the best situation for any game is to wait for actual gameplay or at least gameplay videos. I'm not somebody who has a slavish devotion to the original concept of Ghost Recon so the changes don't bother me.
-
:punch
Anyway, the bit where the cloaked dude was sneaking outside the building, he looked exactly like a sniper Helghast. Also, what's the point of a cloak if you're going to have a blue flashlight in your face? It's the SC goggles all over again.
-
I'm gonna rub my clit to it as I issue orders over my microphone to my squad
-
Like i said, badass.

I meant its a live action video mixed with special effects. Its like the ODST commercial. It has nothing to do with anything in a videogame is what I meant to say.

* The game will feature split-screen cooperative play, but it's yet to be determined if it will be two or four players.
* Soldiers in Future Soldier benefit from "load-bearing leg braces that enable them to move swiftly" even as they're covered in a ton of heavy technology.
* Gamers can sprint to cover, slide-tackle enemies, and hurdle low obstacles thanks to their new exoskeleton.
* A first for the series, the soldiers will have close-combat takedowns at their disposal. The takedowns are based on various forms of martial arts.
* The team is divided into four members, each with a different class. The classes are: Commando, Engineer, Sniper, and Recon.
* Commando is very similar to a standard soldier, using a rifle with multiple components and shoulder mounted rocket launcher. Engineer has loadouts including a UAV drone which can be steered by the soldier. Sniper features the main advantage of identifying targets. Recon features the optical camo (invisible cloak), and will be what most gamers want to play as. However, when not cloaked, you'll be quite distinguishable on the battlefield.
* The game begins with "the Russian president being kidnapped by extremists, and instead of breaking out the popcorn for a cutscene, you'll be in the shoes of one of his bodyguards. Regardless of how well you may perform during this sequence, you won't be successful, and the capture of the Russian leader is the flashpoint that kicks off what becomes a truly international campaign."
* The game will feature quite a few different settings for the game, being much removed from the bland Mexico settings fans were used to.
* Teammate A.I. has been much improved. Your A.I. partners will move like they have "ten to twelve years of military training". Instead of running in front of you, they're more prone to follow like squadmates should.
* The partners are said to cover your flank and angles you can't always get to when you move forward.
* With the tap of a button, you can follow your teammate automatically. Doing this technique will allow you to focus on enemy fire, and keep an eye on your teammates back as you continue forward. All four players can actually link up at once as well.
* The link-up feature is available in multiplayer too. Stand close enough to a cloaked squadmate in multiplayer, and you'll be cloaked. Future Soldier is aiming to encourage teamwork over everything else.
* The co-op is four players, and completely drop-in/drop-out co-op for the campaign mode. Multiplayer is said to be 8vs8, and contains classic modes such as capture-the-flag and domination.
* The Persistent Elite Creation system from Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will make its way into the title. Meaning, your items in the campaign will be synchronized with those items you use in multiplayer along with your character.

Don't understand why they would have to use exoskeletons to leap and slide around, it's not like they are carrying much gear.
-
Those images are compressed to all hell.
It's all gonna be in the context, i really liked Graw, but now i'm starting to demand more from games. Put me in a scenario like black hawk down, stuff like that.
I'm start to lose the desire of killing npcs just because it's fun.

60 fps
Ubi :bow2
-
I'm very mixed on this at the moment. Obviously the beta will help enlighten the situation a lot more.
Although 60 fps is something I like to hear. I wish more shooters on consoles targeted this benchmark.

60 fps
Ubi :bow2
So basically they dropped the visuals down to much worse than GRAW1/2 to get 60fps?
weird.
The textures in those screens are so so bad. Low-res galore.
-
Game will be Natal enabled,French people say...controller-Natal combo
Natal enabled game mode-use it to interact with the interface, give orders,etc...controller is used for aiming, etc
-
guys on the giantbomb cast say that the game at this point has literally no post processing or other effects. no dust or grain or stuff like that. at least not yet. said it looks super early. so 60fps now is not really impressive.
-
60 fps is always impressive on consoles, always
And one other thing
Smart and experienced developers(people at Ubi are certainly that) are always targeting performance bottlenecks first...
-
Game will be Natal enabled,French people say...controller-Natal combo

Give orders with what, the non-existent command system? Or is that for online only? Natal, lulz :lol
-
The Giant Bomb guys said it was absolutely nothing like Graw from they've seen. A closer comparison was Gears for them.
They gave the impression that this is a complete reboot into something different for the franchise which seems about right with what they have shown.

Delayed
During Ubisoft's annual fiscal call this morning, the company announced it is delaying Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier until March, 2011.
The game was originally scheduled for release this coming holiday when the title was first announced.
During the call, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot added the game will be showcased for the first time at E3 next month
-
Not surprised.
-
Not surprised.
Yeah I heard what they were showing was very rough looking and that to make it by fall seemed very unlikely. Not to mention they would be going head to head with a lot of bigger shooter franchises in the fall.
-
If this was from any other company, I'd say some shit like "good, more time to polish the game" but that doesn't seem to apply to Ubi. Who knows, maybe they will just up and redesign the thing again.
-
Yo, Altogether where have ya been lately?
Here and there. Mostly out in the woods.

-
Delayed again.
Ubisoft's just put out its first half 2010-11 results, revealing that Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and Driver: San Francisco have been delayed.
The pair were originally due in Q1 2011, but have now been delayed into Ubisoft's next fiscal year, which means they'll release sometime between March 31, 2011 and the same date in 2012.
Ghost Recon was delayed the first time from this Christmas to early next year, with the publisher putting the slip down to "a very competitive environment".
"It will also provide more time to our development teams to realise their ambition," said Ubi CEO Yves Guillemot at E3 2010.
-
Man with those graphics this shit better be 4 players split screen co op.
-
A new Driver game too??? :o

I love modes like this.
-
What do you mean, customization in general, or specifically building out your weapon based on your play style?
-
Both but what I really meant was then a shooting range where you can go and immediately test those results. Whenever I setup a class in COD it annoys me that I have to go into a regular private match to test things out and shoot at a wall or something.

Trailer reeks of COD, but hey, can't blame them. The game is releasing on PC after all and it's bound to at least be something different so I'm buying it.
-
WHERE ARE THE LAZERS, FUTUR SOLDIER USE LAZERS
-
You know, the invisibility stuff was a lot easier to digest when it was a cloak. Now they automatically turn on predator-powers when they crouch, and it seems to work on skin too!
-
I don't care about it in sp. I'm fine with it there.
Where it might annoy me is in mp. Nothing sucks more than camo invisi-snipers. See Crysis 2 or Halo Reach MP.
-
I'm more than fine with it... in Crysis. Ghost Recon is supposed to have some anchor in reality, and even Crysis forced you to have a full suit to get it working.

Beta is coming up soon, I think.
one of April's PS Plus perks is the beta, so this week or the next. I'm interested in trying it, although I have no interested in the actual multiplayer. It should give a feel for the same mechanics that'll be in the single player.
-
The only way to get into the beta on 360 from what I've seen is to pre-order and then they will send you like 4 codes.
I'm only in it for the mp so I hope it turns out well. It's been in dev hell for awhile so hopefully it turns out alright.

beta is out today, at least on PS3 if you have Plus
unless there's another sign up process when you want to play. I'll find out in...2 to 8 hours, whenever the install finishes.
nvm. seems like it starts on the 19th and you can just download it early.

Beta is up. Played a couple of quick games. thoughts
-It definitely ain't 60 fps. I think at one point in the development they said they were targeting that but clearly it was dropped at some point to go for 30.
-I like how it emphasizes doing the objectives. You can run around and kill in the default mode, but you really get the points and the victory by actually doing the objective. Hopefully this will attract a more objective oriented crowd. Weapons actually have recoil so you tend to need to burst fire them which is a nice change of pace from nearly all shooters now.
- Completely personal but man its weird to play a third person shooter. I didn't really touch Gears at all in the mp so this is a new experience after all the fps games for me. I played Graw back in the day but its been so long it might well have been decades ago.
-I think I'll fuck with this. I already have it pre-ordered. And unlike something like Medal of honor. This thankfully doesn't feel like a COD clone.
I'll probably have an extra beta code or two. They send you three extra and I'm gonna give two to friends to play with which leaves me with 2 as I had an extra.
-
I'm more than fine with it... in Crysis. Ghost Recon is supposed to have some anchor in reality, and even Crysis forced you to have a full suit to get it working.
Cloaking devices are reality. Not as a fabric or whatever, but as a working device that can conceal large objects - yes. There are several different kinds. It's not outlandish that these things are gonna be everywhere in the not-too-distant future.
-
Holy hell the beta is shit. At least on PS3.
Searching for game...
No games found...starting new session
(quit out instantly and search again, finding a game somehow)
Deployment Restricted
(wait several minutes)
Spawning...
(wait a long-ass time, none of the buttons do anything)
Force-exit game.
Tried twice and got the same results. Great beta, guys.
-
Unfortunate. I got in a game right away and things seems to work fine for me. The frame rate is a bit sketchy but otherwise I didn't have a problem getting into games. When I play some more later, I'll mention if I'm having those issues.
-
Finally got in a game, guess it's random whether or not you'll be stuck on the spawn screen since the next game wouldn't let me spawn, I gave up and stopped playing. Game seems pretty good when it works but not worth this frustration.
-
Played a couple more games but yeah it has connection issues. I got stuck on a loading screen twice and had to dashboard and I lost connection to a game.
-
Yeah if you get in a game you better stay there. Because the connection issues right now of actually getting in one are rough. When it works the game is fun though and does require a lot of teamwork.
My complaints right now are
The connectivity sucks.
The frame rate is sketchy
Grenades are too powerful.
I like the sensor stuff but I think its a little too powerful right now. Especially if a team runs a bunch of engineer and recons.
All that being said, I'm enjoying myself when things actually work.
But the Call of Duty's of the world have nothing to worry about. While I like it, it too sketchy in general to be the next big thing and a little bit too hardcore for the masses. Which is fine. Not everything should be for the masses.
-
The frame rate could be a bit smoother but I don't think you need 60FPS for a tactical shooter like this, Ghost Recon games have always been slow-paced so it almost kind of suits the style. If they can get it to a solid 30 with no slowdown when shit starts happening on screen, that'll be good enough.
-
Yeah if it was a solid 30 I wouldn't mind but it definitely drops below that when things get hot and heavy.
-
Seems like they fixed the spawning issue, haven't had any problems lately.
Grenades seem insane in this game, if you're securing an objective and a grenade lands near you, there's really nothing you can do. I also wonder about some of the attachments, lots of them seem to have no disadvantages once you unlock them, love this generation of gaming! Can't wait to unlock armor-piercing rounds so I have an obvious advantage against my opponents in a fair firefight!
-
They either need to be harder to throw so accurately or do less damage. Since harder to throw involves patching in a whole new mechanic they need to do less damage. I fear once people unlock grenade launchers. Those were always overpowered in graw

I'm in the PS3 beta
-
Holy hell the beta is shit. At least on PS3.
Searching for game...
No games found...starting new session
(quit out instantly and search again, finding a game somehow)
Deployment Restricted
(wait several minutes)
Spawning...
(wait a long-ass time, none of the buttons do anything)
Force-exit game.
Tried twice and got the same results. Great beta, guys.
Why are you playing this on PS3? Did you ditch your 360?

I have PLAYSTATION PLUS so I got in the beta, still got lots of love for the 360!

It's fine on PS3, was playing with some of the GAF Battlefielders I have on my friendslist. Had no idea what we were doing but finished in the top positions score wise

I have a couple of extra codes if anybody wants one.

I tried to get this through Splinter Cell a few times this past weekend, and the game would not connect to UPlay. :lol
I have a couple of extra codes if anybody wants one.
360
Sure, PM me one please.

The more I play, the more sour I get on it unfortunately. The rifle class is overpowered because of the chest armor. You shouldn't give one class more health in a game like this where the health count is so low in the first place. There is an unlock to counter this but who knows how the game will play once all the unlock stuff is added.
The spawn trapping on pipeline is annoying. And the net code is scary bad. I know its a beta, but its taking a bit of a leap of faith that it will be improved to where it needs to be because right now its awful.
I'm still getting it, but my confidence in the end product has been reduced a degree because of the beta. I saw an interview also saying that the horde mode has no online matchmaking. You have to invite your friends to play it to get a full squad. In this day and age that's stupid.

GRFS Beta - Balance and Game Play Changes
As part of our dedication to the community and showing you how your feedback is directly helping the development teams, here are the first feedback concerns that we’re addressing:
360 ONLY - Grenades are over-powered: we are reducing the grenade blast kill-radius according to your feedback and the analysis of your matches.
360 ONLY - Confusion was caused by the 4-man party and 6-man team matchmaking: we are increasing the maximum party size to 6 in order to align with the team size.
360 & PS3 - We are universally increasing the speed of XP acquisition in order to gain additional feedback on the weapons and equipment unlocked later in the character progression system.
360 & PS3 - Last but not least, in thanks for the feedback you have provided, we are releasing the Saboteur game type early today.
In Saboteur use stealth and cunning to capture the explosive briefcase and detonate it on the opposing team's objective. Saboteur really emphasizes the teamwork aspect of Ghost Recon Future Soldier, and we hope that you’ll enjoy it as much as we do.
Currently Grenades and Party changes will only be active on Xbox 360; we are working to bring these changes to the PS3 Beta as well. Changes will be active across the platforms listed and require a reboot of the servers (currently scheduled for 6:00pm EDT). We will revise this thread with additional updates as we publish them.

As part of our dedication to showing you that your feedback is directly helping the development teams, we will release today at 2pm EST a new update for the Xbox 360* version of the Beta:
Riflemen are over-powered:
Increased minimum recoil for the ACR and AK200 to align them more closely with the other assault rifles.
Reduced maximum assault rifle damage range, making the sniper rifle more valuable.
Increased minimum damage of SMGS, making them more effective against all classes at further ranges.
Dramatically reduced the radius of the heartbeat sensor.
Additional Weapon changes:
Reduced the dispersion to make handguns generally more effective, especially for the bomb carrier.
Adjusted shotgun effectiveness.
XP adjustments:
Adjusted XP values for Confidence & Hack Objective.
Additional Equipment changes:
Adjusted Flash Bang Duration.
Adjusted Flash Bulb reload time.
Adjusted EMP air burst radius for EMPs launched by a underbarrel or standalone grenade launcher.
Adjusted the amount of UAV’s in match.
Increased the duration of the Sensor to make them more susceptible to countering.
(*) When will those changes apply to the PS3 version of the Beta?
We will deploy those changes as soon as possible
Good stuff. I like that they are listening to feedback. So many devs don't.

Passing on this game. I cancelled my order. The beta has just utterly pissed me off and I don't have confidence they will address that stuff in the full retail product. There are a lot of good ideas but the current level of intel in the game is just obnoxious and overbearing. You are constantly getting detected. I'd like the idea of intel to stop camping as much or more than the next guy but they went way overboard with it. It's just annoying. And the maps are way too small for the level of intel in the game. The spawn trapping is nuts. Unfortunate. I really like a lot of the ideas in the game. But in the end it isn't designed well enough to support them.
Max Payne and or Hybrid will instead have to be my summer mp game.

I'm weak. I went ahead and picked it up. I'll post some impressions this evening.

Played a few missions in the campaign and a few mp matches. It's about what I expected. It's not offensively bad. It's not great. It's decent. The campaign plays a bit like a mix of splinter cell meets cod which isn't as bad as it sounds. No this ain't the ghost recon you played on the og xbox or pc. Get over it. But its not bad for what it is. You basically are these soldiers with all these over-powered little detection toys so you can dust the enemies. That part is fun. Most missions so far have a stealth part and then a balls out action part. (Or maybe I'm just screwing up on the stealth part and it turns into balls out action). There are some parts where stealth is strictly enforced and if you fuck up you have to redo it and then some just turn into action bits if you fail the stealth. One annoying thing is that the co-op campaign and horde mode have no matchmaking. You only have the option to play with people on your friends list which is a really lazy move by the devs. The squad controls are fairly limited as you mainly do the mark and execute stuff with them but so far I haven't run into them doing any overtly dumb things. It's kinda neat how with the intel and the mark and execute, I can almost just tell them what to do on simple stuff and I don't even have to get involved with the combat which makes it feel a little strategic which is nice. I also ran into a bug where your squad is supposed to huddle up against a door to do a door breach and the breach never happened and I had to reset to the checkpoint. Hopefully that doesn't happen a lot.
The multiplayer is less buggy than the beta but still buggy. I got stuck in a few lobbies with no timer countdown and the dumb host migration that just resets the current objective is still in effect. I'll have to play a lot more to give any real constructive feedback but most of the stuff balance wise that bothered me in the beta still seems to be there. It does seem to trigger alternative spawn points a little quicker though to try to relieve some of the spawn camping. We'll see if its an improvement.

I ganked one of those uPlay online pass cards out of a box at BLockbuster when I was getting Dragon's Dogma. I'll rent it in about a month when I finish Dragon's so I can play online, heh.
-
Wait, you stole something out of a box at a store? And someone is going to bring that box home and then have to go back to the store or work it out with the publisher?

Blockbuster is a rental chain... nobody was going to use that pass.

I played a good deal of the multiplayer today. It's fun. It's solid. Unfortunately a lot of the really good unlocks are way down the road so who knows how the final balance will be at that point (and some of those unlocks look like they could be annoying).
It really plays much better with a party of multiple people actually communicating. That's superficially the case with any shooter but it really applies here. I played with about 5 or 6 people in a party today and had a ball. I've also played by myself with randoms and had an absolutely miserable time because of the lack of communication and such. It's even more team oriented than say battlefield because with only 6 people per team, if a couple guys are fucking around and the other team is organized they will murder you.
One very annoying thing is that a lot of the connection issues and lag they claimed would be fixed in the retail game from the beta still exist. Amazing in this day and age that people release games with such basic matchmaking issues and then are shocked when people keep playing COD or Battlefield which at least almost always work on a basic level despite their own issues.
The campaign unfortunately is kinda weak. I would guess I'm about halfway through it. I think they show off all their tricks pretty early and the novelty starts to wear off. I find myself only interested in doing a mission or two a day before I'm bored and either switch over to multiplayer or some other game.
