...fuck that other thread.
I don't have a scanner, but I took a picture of one of my more finished sketches. I don't know how to describe what this is, be it a sketch or cartoon or concept drawing, but sometimes I like to draw characters that could be in a Street Fighter game, so this is like some capoeira dude. I kinda got lazy by the time I got to the legs, so that's why they look so wonky. I also suck at drawing feet, so ignore those.

Once I steal my printer/scanner back from my brother's room, I'll have some cooler shit up. Post your stuff too so I'm not the only one being ridiculed.
EDIT: I was gonna go to sleep, but I decided to throw this one up too because I like it a lot.
Xena :heart
the feet :'(

Nothing recent that I can post without having to request permissions. Either that or gifts that I gave without scanning before giving (I like to give gifts of art with the recipient knowing they have full rights to my work - which to me is part of the gift). :)
Concept sketch I did about two years back:

I do the same thing.

By the way, sorry if this sounds selfish, but can somebody give me some pointers on my art? Every time I post something on the internet all I never get anything constructive, and I would really like some criticism.
I never know how to take silence; trying to avoid insulting me? I don't really care. If nobody really likes cartoon-esque stuff here, I guess that's understandable, but COME ON. I'm dying for some tips :'(

Work on your technical ability.
-
I like how natural/correct the guy looks from your first picture. The angles of the torso, the arms and the lengths of their subparts. Neato.

Be more specific. Not sure what you mean.

Well, thanks! I hope this isn't a troll! :D

Don't be afraid of the edge of the paper. It seems the guy's arms were formed according to where the paper ends and in doing so they become disproportionate and skewed. Attack full force and don't hold back. If you have and idea, if you are inspired put it down in all it's glory. If parts go over it's fine - human minds finish drawings even if features are not seen. Own the paper. Own the drawing. Don't be afraid to make it your bitch (so to speak). :D

You seem to have a pretty steadfast mindset in terms of what you want on paper to begin with - you are confident with your pencil. Not too many sketchy marks or erase marks (unless you have a really kick ass eraser). I do agree with Green Shinobi that you can use some help on the technical side. It just takes a lot of practice: the proportions, placement and compositions of your drawings can use some help. When it comes to anatomy you can actually really learn a lot just by looking, really LOOKING, and analyzing the way people move and interact. Just do this on your free time (ie. riding on the bus, walking home, waiting in line...etc). Bring a sketch pad with you everywhere. Just draw what you see and time yourself. People especially don't stay in one place/pose forever and it's expensive hiring a model so this is what you do: pick someone or something, draw it before it moves. It could be 10 seconds, it could be 5 minutes. Draw it in the time you have. You'll be surprised how much your skill develops. It does get very tiring putting so much focus on one thing for that much time everyday but your skills definitely reaps the rewards.
And just to clarify - there's nothing wrong with skewing and making figures out of proportion, especially in cartoons. But it doesn't look like you did it intentionally and viewers see that. I like the route you're taking with your art - you're doing what you like. Try drawing something original. I'd like to see what you can come up with. :)

Awesome, some real tips!
Alright: Well, as far as the first drawing, it's digitally cropped, I didn't try to force his arm in there, I had a lot of page space. If it looks off, I've been spending a lot of time experimenting with "action" poses, as my drawings were usually just standing there (ala Xena there), and I haven't quite warmed up to it.
As far as drafting and my lines, I'm a really clean worker. I start with skeletons and such and work my way up to shapes and back down to detail, and I erase a lot, but I make sure the sketch lines are gone. Unlike most artists I follow, I try to finish my drawings with a pencil, since I couldn't ever find an ink pen that I actually liked using.
Anatomy is something I've been trying to wrap my head around for quite a while. My drawing style has been evolving since I started at a very young age. Originally I attempted anime-esque eastern art, then moved on to trying photorealism, and then I ended up at this kind of cartoon-phase inspired by Mike Krahulik's earlier stuff.
I have a really hard time recognizing flaws in my art because I literally draw them with my face pressed against the page. I can't really look at it from a far enough distance to see what's wrong. Looking at them now, they're wonky as fuck.
And you want to see something original, eh? Give me 20 minutes.

:lol
Take your time, dude. No rush.

I've always drawn really fast, that's probably the only "skill" I have in drawing, now that I think about it.

These probably look terrible, but my broke-ass eyes can't see it :(
I left some sketch lines in there so you get an idea of how I draft stuff. I *feel* like I do portraits a whole lot better than bodies, but I'll let you and EB be the judge of that.

drawing well in a fast tempo is something I have difficulties with. It is a skill bro.

I love the roundness of the first drawing, Robert.

Thank you, I try and keep a shape theme in my drawings. Something I picked up from the many cartooning books I had as a child.

This is the part I'm not so sure about, haha.
