Title: I've been invited to Italy to taste wines

It consisted of trips to various cities and then every evening eating at a different local restaurant (not the touristy ones), which was the most fun. The wining and dining is so great there, the atmosphere, the food, the wine. Simple foods, but so good. I really learned to drink and appreciate red wine over there.

Will you be traveling exclusively in the upper north? If you have time/ability, you should get down south. As a teen, I lived near Naples for two years. Too young for anything but the occasional glass of homemade (green unmarked bottle, who-knows-what blend) wine but the best eating I've ever had in my life. Tomatoes grown in Vesuvian soil, fresh mozzarella di bufala, squid and octopus... God, just amazing. Northerners will give you the usual litany concerning the south (corrupt, lazy, stupid, lazy, dirty, lazy), but it's still a worthy experience. Southern Italians are fantastically amiable and generous people, by and large.

No matter where you travel, gorge on everything. Everyone has their homemade foodstuffs and are usually quick to offer a new acquaintance a try. Fuck yo' belt. Have a blast!

i would love to go south, but have no time. One of my favorite winemakers works in Sicily. Right now I will be confined to Asti and environs, which is OK.

Ah, it's beautiful in the Piemonte region. You're gonna have such a tough time getting back on that plane. Seriously, congrats on making a successful transition to something for which you obviously have a lot of passion.

When can I start purchasing from you and get my Frequent Buyer Card? lol I probably couldn't afford anything :-\... :lol
