Top Hunter is pretty solid but best arcade game ever? there are a lot of arcade games out there and a lot of good ones at that.... hell Top Hunter isnt even the best SNK arcade game. That would be BURNING FIGHT

hell Top Hunter isnt even the best SNK arcade game. That would be METAL SLUG 3

Fixed

But the best arcade game ever is definitely a fighting game.

I like MS2 :X

They're kind of the same exact game. Metal Slug 3 just has a lot of needed minor improvements.

This plus

I miss the days when games had crazy cabs to get you into the action!  Playing G-LOC in a cab that spins you 360 degrees, or Night Striker with the tunnel-vision is something you don't see so much of anymore.  At least After Burn Climax kept the dream alive!

you talking about the classic Death Star trench run game with vector graphics? Game owns. We used to have a really good retro (not on purpose though lol, they just didnt have any new games) arcade downtown but it closed down  :'( they had that cab

Is Baseball Stars 2 on XBLA yet? that and Windjammers with online play would be fucking awesome.

The Star Wars arcade game is how I discovered MAME, and emulators in general.  I was searching for Star Wars-related games back in the day, and found some random site which had a bunch of rom files.  I had no idea what they were, but I downloaded the Star Wars one and figured out how to run the program.  I was absolutely amazed at what I saw in front of me, and afterwards started downloading as many roms from that site as I could.  It was a whole new world open to me!  I would soon discover other emulators, although back then they weren't that good (heh, I remember how SNES games could be unplayable unless you disabled certain layers).

I also played the hell out of Star Wars Arcade for the 32X.  Goddamn, that game got hard.

I'd probably consider DDR to be my personal favorite arcade game, lots of good memories from that.
