Man, I feel like a kid again! I haven't had this much fun playing a game in years. Of course, I haven't really played a game in years, so there's that too.
But wow, I really like this a lot. Reminds me that I never played Super Metroid. I guess I should get on that.
-
I played this for hours and hours on end with no idea where I was supposed to go.
-
Yea, I had this game as a kid and once you get a third through it, you're lost. Needed a GBC remake.
-
Will wait for the Metroid 2 remake instead. Enjoy your antiquated graphics

Yeah, get on that.
Also, are you playing this on an emulator? If so, install a color patch so it isn't so gross

Ha I remember watching the teaser video for this like a year or two ago

This and Final Fantasy Legend II were my most played games back in the day...
-
this game's final boss gets an honorable mention in the "shittiest last boss fights ever" catagory
-
For some reason Nintendo always struck out with their nes sequels. I hear that the kid icarus gameboy game was good though.

What examples are you basing this on?
-
Zelda 2 was shit.
err.. merely an average game.
-
Well my question wasnt attacking... it was a genuine question
-
Castlevania 2
Super Mario Bros 2
Final Fantasy 2
Although Zelda 2 probably trumps all of those
-
Mario 2 destroys the first game, man.
-
Maybe the GBA version

Metroid 2
Mario 2
Zelda 2
Its like they were really afraid of doing the same thing so they just went crazy with it. I understand that smbj2 is a more legit sequel, but man, its weeeeiiiirrrdddd. I did find it a funny addition to mario deluxe on gbc.

FUCK YOU.

FUCK YOU.
It's really a poor choice of words when you are trying to apologize for having shitty taste.

In terms of inventiveness, it is only second to majoras mask in the Zelda games. That is all that matters to me.

it's a side-scroller with a world map. wow so inventive
-
It may be 'inventive' but it isn't fun, and that's what matters to me

I has easy or hard enemies based on the icon that you touch. It had spells and levels unheard of for a Zelda game even now excluding it.

I thought Metroid 2 stuck to the same formula...what crazy thing did it do? i haven't played it in about...17 years or so.

It did stick to the formula. The difference was that it was slightly more linear because it keeps you from progressing on the map until you beat however many Metroids in an area.
The game rocks and is better-polished and more fun than NES Metroid.

Metroid 2 felt claustrophobic for me. If they released it on another console and just had more screen space, I think I would have been fine, but as is the Samus sprite took up too much of the screen. It's like Super Mario Deluxe. But I haven't really tried to play it in a long time, so maybe I don't have that problem anymore.

Metroid 2 is one of those games that I'm amazed I managed to beat back in the day. I remember there being a lot of really weird hidden passages and shit that aren't so apparent. It's pretty well-made though, especially considering the hardware and era it came out in. I'm kind of surprised that they never revisited the idea of metroid evolution.
Heh, I remember that all of the commercials for the game always showed the last boss fight!
