Are there ANY chances that the new VF5 expansion will hit consoles? :(

SF2 back in the day in the arcades was amazing, but I've probably put 1000 hours into intense competitive matches in VF2/VF4/VF5. Didn't really play VF3 much, so definitely want to get a home port of VF5R with some Taka.

Also it's the only fighting game I'm legitimately good at, which makes me happy. I can actually beat people online and in Japanese arcades and 1 credit the arcade machines in single player every time. I can't say that about any other fighting game! My friend is pretty good too, so playing against him for years was good practice and when I first got competitive at VF4 I was lucky enough to be living in a Japanese dorm with a high rank VF sensei a few doors down who took me under as his disciple and taught me daily how to have some real game. tl;dr VF means a lot to me <3

Oh yeah, and I main Akira. Love, love, love Akira. I also play an ok Kage, Aoi, Lion, Shun, Wolf, Goh, Lau, Eileen, El Blaze but its been ages since I've played most of them so I'm really rusty with anyone outside Akira these days. I never really learned how to play a good Jacky, Sarah, Lei Fei, Pai, Brad, Vanessa. Still need to put more hours in! Hopefully if VF5R comes home It'll be a good opportunity

less to do with the quality of VF3 and how much access I had to it

Maybe I should give it a go on mame. I liked it at the time, although I wasn't as impressed with it as I was with VF1 or 2.

I actually think DoA is a decent fighter. Better than Tekken for sure. Especially DoA4, which I really liked. The environmental stuff actually adds a ton to the matches. Like fighting while avoiding traffic and hitting people into cars and combo-ing off it.

I'd love a DoA5, although I'm not sure if it'd be better or worse without Itagaki.

well no offense but one of those two games doesn't feature a move which require you to press and release a button in a time period of 0.001 seconds

I main as Akira and I never even use the knee. It's not important to his game at all. Even the SPoD has become a lot easier to pull off in VF4/5.

I've never been huge into VF either. I got into VF5 a bit when I was in Japan, but went back to 2D fighters pretty quickly. I just feel that 2D fighters are where I'd rather spend more time getting my game up. With 3D fighters, I'm more casual and would rather play DOA (this is probably my favorite 3D fighting series, LOL), Soul Calibur, and even Tekken. VF is also in need of updated character design, better music, and frankly a complete aesthetic overhaul. It just lacks style compared to everything else, and I think improving this would help it to be more popular.

VF has fallen in recent years to Tekken, after Tekken 5 DR hit. Namco stepped it up and Sega hasn't been able to get their momentum back since. I wish that Final Showdown or just VF5R would hit consoles, but they seem to have given up on home versions. It's distinguished mentally-challenged.

It's a little too random at times, which is the downside. Fun game series though. I wish PSP was getting a fighting game and not fucking Paradise.

Better, likely. :lol IIRC a lot of the improvements made to Ultimate and also a scrapped updated to DOA3/early DOA4 were said to be better than what Itagaki had in mind, and he didn't like it so he had them scrap it all and start over. :-\

I joke about DoA and Tekken games, but I do enjoy them. Of current 3D fighters, I'd say both are tied at third behind VF and SC.

It will be out when you are there. You could just play VF5R and not notices any differences anyway. Final Showdown is just a (big) update.

DOA2 did good with the changes to the counter system, but felt like a step back from DOA3 with everyone's movesets. DOA4 is the best in the series, easily. DOA is definitely one of the few fighting game series out there where each new release has arguably been better than the previous game in pretty much every way.

Why do you say that?

I have read that it is difficult to get games in because the game isn't set up in the traditional "insert coin, play until defeated" type of way. Instead you pay to play for periods of time, and I'm not even sure if it uses a coin slot at all. Border Break is one of those games that is supposed to rely heavily on cards for customization and playing. Anyway when it came out, I heard the wait to play was like forever because people would just hog the machines. :lol

This thread is also perfect for Border Break discussion, because it too is another Sega game that will likely never see the light of day on consoles. I am still shocked that we are getting Afterburner Climax!

Then I saw some videos and zoooooooomg, I NEED THIS GAME. This game would do so well as an XBLA/PSN release with online play.
