Insane? Hardcore? distinguished mentally-challenged?
I couldnt play the game(original not pirated) on the emulator because it is crashing quite a bit. So i am buying it just becasue i liked SMT: Devil Survivor for the DS. BTW if i didnt like DDS will i like SMT: Nocturne? I prefer customisation to anything else in an rpg.
-
A true fan.
Also, DDS is nothing like SMT3.
-
Uh? Dont you live in America?
-
DDS = traditional JRPG
SMT III Nocture = traditional JRPG & Pokemon
-
Also I would file you under "distinguished mentally-challenged" - all that work for a shit game
-
Uh? Dont you live in America?
Nope i live in Australia, they never released a PAL version.
-
If you prefer customization over anything, you'll probably explode when you play SMT3.
You ingest magatama, which increases certain stats, gives you weaknesses or strengths. Like say, Narukami magatama makes you weak against ice, but nulls electricity damage. The game has a shit ton of these and each magatama has their own skillset. So you'll have to ingest certain magatama at different times in the game to get whatever skill you desire.
Add this with demon negotiation and fusion and you have the GREATEST JAPANESE RPG OF ALL TIME.
:bow SMT3 :bow2

depends on what customization you're after. You can customize your party by choosing which monsters are in and out. Then you breed monsters for different skills. Which combination of skills you get is random, but you can keep on going in and out of menus until you get the combination of skills you want. It's also influenced by some other factors. In other words, you don't have complete control over it and it will drive you insane as you sit there for a half hour trying to get what you want.
I would file you under distinguished mentally-challenged for making a bold proclamation, then asking a basic question about whether you would like the game or not. it's like the people that buy a system then make a "so...are there games for this thing?" post on gaf. :lol
I did like Nocturne much better than DDS though. Nocturne is easily my favorite PS2 rpg and even though it came out first, it blows the shit out of Atlus' subsequent SMT games.
-
Wow they did? Shit. I was looking for "Nocturne". I guess thats why i didnt find it in Ebay Australia.

SMT4 comes out in a few weeks. :bow Fatlus :bow2

Strange Journey is not SMT4. :(
I think the only reason why it wasnt called SMT4 is because that didint want to use the same japanese setting again. Because it seems to even expand on the series when it comes to monsters.

Kaneko sez otherwise, but it isn't officially SMT4 since it is set in Antarctica. Regardless, demon fusion and negotiation is coming to my DS in a few weeks. :drool
-
I agree. But I'm saying man, I want an hd SMT4 :(
-
If they made a HD version they would have probably had to cut down on the monsters which would be sad. It is a shame that SMT games arent as popular as FF games so that they get some decent funding for these games.
-
:(
-
I bought a modded PS2 to play Ico. What a fucking waste of money that was.
Luckily all the survival horrors made up for it.

It's not SMT4 because it's not epic enough to be SMT4.
-
Spill the bean Bepbo what makes it not epic enough?
-
Sounds to me like the world doesn't end, stuff like that.
-
I see. I think it is a nice change then.
-
Too drunk to read through this whole thread, but isn't it supposed to be fully playable on emulator?
-
Keeps crashing for me. Im using windows 7 that might have something to do with it.
-
nocturne is the only shin megami tensei game that is magus approved
only thing i hate is the three temple's part, seriously they probably are the most annoying dungeon in a rpg ever
but anyway if you get a ps2,why you would get it for a single game? pick other stuff too say... like shadow hearts
-
That game was poop. I bought it thanks to GAF hype and now I know better.
which game? nocturne? shadow hearts?

I played all the other rpgs this is like my third time rebuying a ps2(yes i know that makes me distinguished mentally-challenged). I bought Mana Khemia 2 aswell but that game isnt that good, it is almost exactly the same as the original.

eh like that is a bad thing!
it kinda makes me feel all tingly to know someone else played gust games here :'(
-
I modded my PS2 to play the first Katamari game. Was well worth the money.

It's just a short story. Not many characters, not much plot. It's a fantastic game, but it's not on the level of a main SMT. The gameplay is A++ and does improve on the series indeed.
