Saturn is teh better system. ;)
PHANTON DUST :rock
Piracy doesn't count, bro.
short version : i agree with Ichi, there's a shitfuckton of Saturn games that justify it as a great platform - plus a shit ton of extras over the arcade versions etc.
QuoteI own like 100 Saturn games.
i had spiralled up to about 300, but i think this time around i'm at a more reasonable 120 or so. There IS a lot of sh1t out there.
Crows has to be the single worst game that goes for around 20k yen mint, even 9800y is a joke. I got it back in the day for 2800y and i STILL felt ripped off. Insipid game design.
Back to the Xbox - agreed with Demi, Phantom Dust is hubbahubba. though with no online it surely takes a hit ? :/
Other than that, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Nanatsu kaze no shima monogatari, Burning Ranger, Mr Bones, Waku Waku 7, Elan Doree, Princess Crown, 10 player Saturn frigging Bomberman....
i'm sure theres more, but for me it's a great machine with a good library. Laughable library is pretty unfair... :runsoffcrying
Well, I love me some wacky jappy games too. :-*
Didn't the US get the shaft on Japanese imports though?
Yeah, I should clarify by saying that I love the JAPANESE Saturn. Saturn was the first system I extensively imported games for. It was very easy to play Japanese games on it, you just bought a converter cartridge for it.
I have a fuckton of Saturn games too
Er, fuuu
I meant Saturn. Still half-asleep. Keio Flying Squadron isn't on XBox either, that's a Saturn platformer that only came out in Japan & Europe.
Again, piracy/emulation does not count. Saturn is the only console where you can legally play arcade-perfect ports of the Capcom Vs. games.
Your laughably long post is ridiculous.
ZING
I still stand correct. Saturn is shit. Since I play games in America that is what I judge it on you Sega nerds. :-*

It doesn't count...in your book. ;) I stopped giving a shit about this when I was able to play arcade games perfectly-emulated on my modded Xbox, in 480P via component. Suddenly it no longer mattered.
We are just talking about playing the best versions of these games...which happen to be emulated.
:patel
But that's just some of them, anyway. The rest have better versions on other consoles.

Console versions of a lot of those games have EXTRA CONTENT, which the pirated, illegal, immoral, emulated versions lack.

Let's not go in circles, here. The arcade versions of a lot of these games play, look, and sound better. Whether you are playing them emulated or not. :patel
UNTIL i get my new Mame box together running arcadeVGA via a JPAC then the Saturn is of use. That said i'm pretty much just hammering Dodonpachi now, which i have the PCB for.
QuoteLOL, so you are in agreement with me.
well, it only covers half the problems.
RSG is much better on Saturn for a start, but for some of the lesser ports i'd prefer Mame for sure.
Mame's main purpose is simply saves me money on games i don't care enough to buy
here is my main problem - in the last month :
P47, Rygar, Ajax, Phoenix x2, Magic Sword, Commando, Side Arms, Altered Beast, SPY Special project Y.
How many of those were REALLY worth shittying up my gaming area with ? I can deal with minor input lag to free up space and to keep my wallet in my fecking pocket for a bit
QuoteSome of those I wouldn't bother with anyway, just because they are available on various collections and/or are coming to XBLA. I did the arcade board thing for a bit but it didn't last too long because of the space issue. A MAME cab would be awesome though...I got a taste of that with a modded Xbox.
Mame isn't perfect, but it's very very good. Nothing compares to running the arcade hardware on a decent monitor, it's just godlike. However, as you say, for stuff like Rygar? That said, $5 boards galore as long as you don't shop in Japan where the prices are STUPID.
The other advantage of a Mame box linked to a cab/supergun is you can throw other emulators on there and play them through your standard arcade stick. Plus the other MASSIVE win is RGB C64, Spectrum , and NES games (which getting in "proper" hardware is a Tiler NES gutting NES hacking nightmare)
However, some games - the ones with funky timings - are a right pain in the arse via Mame. Things aren't perfect.
