I'll start.
I actually liked these songs:

ITT: teenage himuro killing himself
-
Itt: music green man likes now
-
hahahahaha
I'll post some videos when I get home. Youtube is blocked at work.
-
I am also on the Marilyn Manson shame train. And worse, I can (and will) still defend Mechanical Animals with a straight face.

There are songs of his that I'll still defend. But to be a fan of his is down right shameful. I won't admit I like anything from him in public unless I'm comfortable with a group of friends.
-
i really liked the Cure when i was younger
i find them nigh unlistenable nowadays
-
At least this won't get old.

i bought their first album...
-
The stuff I listened to as a teenager is the same stuff I listen to now.
-
i am trying to think if there's anything i liked as a teen which i don't like now, or would be embarassed to admit to liking, but I don't think there is.
i loved the first marilyn manson album but i can't even tell you the last time i listened to it. I got off that train after the follow up EP they did with the Sweet Dreams cover on it. I couldn't get into it from there.
I liked (and still like) a large number of ska releases from back then, early Pietasters, The Toasters, and I even like Reel Big Fish's first two albums, but don't find much really exciting after that.
My punk credentials are pretty strong, NOFX's most creative output, the whole of DC Hardcore at the time (bands no one else knows like The Suspects),
I listened to a lot of industrial, but I can't recall any of that which was flat out horrible.
Lots and Lots and Lots of rave music and jungle but while it's ultimately disposable, it wasn't really anything like Aqua.
-
Well aren't you cool, distant?
Although, some of the music I listened to as a teenager I still listen to now. It mostly depends on what genre, and even then, what group/artist.
-
The stuff I listened to as a teenager is the same stuff I listen to now.
yeah exactly. there's just more of it now because it's been so long since i was a teenager.
-

Aqua :-\

fucking LOL at comments
"is the amen break slowed down here?"
edit: oh i see. yeah that's a sloppy edit. who put this together?

Blasphemy. The Cure are still amazing. Go see them live; they will seriously blow you away.
This was one of my favorite songs as a 15 year old:

-
God I love the amen break and its' 1,000,000,000,000 permutations
Blasphemy. The Cure are still amazing. Go see them live; they will seriously blow you away.
Some of their earlier stuff I still like, and Standing on a Beach is an amazing singles collection... but for the most part, it's just overwrought, miserable bullshit (in my humble fucking opinion).
It's the opposite with The Smiths. HATED them as a kid (when I really just hated their fanbase, not really giving their music a chance) and now I really love them.
-
When I was really young, like around 10 or 11 I used to listen to Hanson. Had a crush on the youngest chick too.
-
Yeah, the chick from Hanson and Dakota Fanning isn't really a huge leap
-
Anyone remember these guys?

-
Yeah, some of The Cure's albums don't hold up so well, and some were never all that good, but I still love Disintegration, Seventeen Seconds, most of The Head on the Door, Wish and Pornography.
And if you ever get a chance to see The Cure live, you should really do it. Take a girl with you. And E.
-
ah, let some things go unspoken
-
The stuff I listened to as a teenager is the same stuff I listen to now.
yeah exactly. there's just more of it now because it's been so long since i was a teenager.
Yup.
In high school (1995-1999) I was absolutely obsessed with Smashing Pumpkins. And Britpop. Oh man how was I obssessed with Britpop. Blur, Pulp, Manics, Mansun, Placebo. I also listened to a lot of Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, Red Stars Theory and Death Cab for Cutie.
-
:omg Unwritten Law - Seeing red :rock :rock :rock :rock :rock :rock :heartbeat :heartbeat :heartbeat
:bow Himu :bow2
I saw them in Vestal, NY when they opened for Sum 41 quite a few years ago. I went mainly to see them.
-
Unwritten Law came and played at my college when I was a sophomore or junior.
They played a great set. Honestly, Seeing Red was one of their worst songs, but I don't know the titles of the other ones.

:bow The Chronic 2001 was spinning for over a year during highschool

Also loved this group. My high school band did a cover of this song:

And if I'm listing APC, I can't leave this one out:

I'm STILL a teenager.

Still worship (since I was 11 or 12...not technically a teen, but w/e):
--Pavement
--Sonic Youth
--Nirvana
Still listen to:
--Wu Tang Clan
--Pharcyde
Listen to once in a blue moon these days, but was fucking obsessed for a couple years:
--Smashing Pumpkins.
Don't listen to anymore:
--Lords of Acid
--KMFDM
--Front 242
--Marilyn Manson
--and so on in that fashion
-
Lots and Lots and Lots of rave music and jungle but while it's ultimately disposable, it wasn't really anything like Aqua.
Aqua :-\
I still listen to Aqua lol. love them
I bought this 12" when I got my turntables when I was young and naive

still a fucking amazing track
-
Actually, I'm absolutely indifferent to the Pumpkins anymore. I just don't care.
-
The stuff I listened to as a teenager is the same stuff I listen to now.
this + now I listen to more stuff
I managed to avoid crappy teen bands, but that is likely thanks to when I was born. Got out of highschool right in time.
-
CURVE! Oh man, I haven't listened to their albums in over ten years... I know what I'm throwing on my iPod tomorrow.
-
:bow Dirty Epic :bow2
But I didn't get into Underworld until I was in my 20s.
-
lulz, me and Dcharlie could totally talk about music and not get angry with one another. Loveless was a revelation.
-
Hey, this thread is cool.
Maybe you should post some crap from this year, lulz.
-
I found an old cd today and popped it into my mate's car stereo, it had like 25 Sum 41 and Blink 182 songs, we still remember all the lyrics :lol

Loveless is fucking amazing.
-
Yeah, i've actually been listening to Doppelganger quite a lot recently. Their later stuff was super patchy.
And Halliwell was my big fantasy crush around that 15-16 age point.
Doppleganger is my fave, but I really liked Come Clean. Everything after that wasn't too hot, though.

this song, as well as the entire album, dominated my sophomore year of highschool.

for some reason, loveless is probably the one album that still manages to make me feel the most nostalgia. funny as how it's been there through all the hard times.

same as the above.

Listening to MBV's Loveless for the first time was like a revelation. An incredible album for its time....hell, it's still incredible.
-
Forgot about this one.

It's probably the only SP song that I can still listen to and not get sick of.

oh wow, Firestarter !
i wasn't a teenager by then, but we were doing our fanzine thing so we were getting a ton of free Cds sent to my student home. Came home and there it was "Prodigy - Firestarter". OMG OMG mass excitement - and we sat and listened to it over and over again and we were all "Yeah, this is amazing"
fast forward a couple of months and the single comes out.... and.... well.... it was a surprise!
we got this one , not labelled as a remix, just as the up coming single (it's the Empirion remix), we'd grown so accustomed to that version that it took us a while to get into the original! lol.

I remember buying Wipeout XL because it had Firestarter on the soundtrack, then being disappointed it had no lyrics. :lol

my problem with Loveless is that I discovered it the week after I found Mudhoney's Superfuzz Bigmuff. So MBV didn't stand a chance.
