Title: After playing Flow I'm amazed that Flower is actually playable
Post by: Himu on March 13, 2010, 03:10:08 PM
It's a relaxing game with beautiful graphics and a simplistic premise. I'm not seeing the "game" here, but it's still 100000 x better than flow, which doesn't mean much, but still pretty impressive considering this is like going from a big piece of shit in a toilet to a lump of coal.

Thanks, Hitler!

I wasn't sure what to make out of Flower after the first two levels, but it got more interesting as it progressed.  It definitely left an impression on me after it was all over with. The ending was almost poetic.

I thought the best part was the fourth stage, um, the one at night (I think that was the fourth one)

Flower is sweet. I thought flow was interesting with an appealing presentation, but I don't think I ever enjoyed playing it. It wasn't terribly relaxing either. I'd totally be onboard with a 3d version of flow, though.

It was pretty blissful until the level with the powerlines. The first time I took damage, I actually jumped in my seat.

The ending was nice, and the credits were clever, but they needed some "OK, OK, get on with it" design somehow. Having to backtrack to trigger the Lead QA Manager's name = irony.

There was one thing that I don't think I noticed on my first playthrough. I forget which level it is, but there's some field where you can charge up by hitting some trigger and paint the fields by flying through them. Sort of wish I had some weed then.
