The first draft of my bracket has Duke going out to Louisville, but that seems kinda ridiculous. Duke was handed the easiest possible bracket, but I'm still not convinced. I took them out early last year and got it 100% right; obviously they're way better this year but I just don't trust them.

I'd take the Cardinals over Duke, too. Duke can't shoot outside of Cameron. No path to the Final Four is too easy for my Blue Devils.

While the Midwest probably has the best teams they are all on the lower side of the bracket and Kansas will only have to play 1 of them, Kentucky on the other hand could have to play Texas, Wisconsin, West Virginia just to get out to the final four.

Sure, Clemson took the L and Florida State mailed it in versus Gonzaga, but Wake and Georgia Tech pulled (minor) upsets and Duke and Maryland handled their business. So, 4-2, far cry from the 1-5 I expected in the first round (at best, 2-4).

And it looks like Duke won't lose to Louisville on Sunday.

Was at Buffalo Wild Wings. It seemed like the entire place had Kansas winning because shit got quiet as hell once the game ended. Well except for a couple MSU fans going crazy :'(

Yes.

They lost something like 5 of their last 6 before the tournament, including being blown out by last place Miami in the first round of the ACC tournament. I guess they were lucky enough to play another team in the middle of a death spiral in the first round of the NCAA, but luck quickly ran out.

Anyway, as expected, all the scrubs from the ACC are now gone. Truthfully, going by seeding, only Maryland should have had a shot at the sweet 16, but I didn't trust them any more than the rest of the also-rans of the conference. I was actually surprised a couple of them (GT, Wake) won in the first round.

So now it's down to Duke, whom I still don't trust, but I think their road still looks pretty favorable.

I fucking love this month. Best tournament ever. I've been watching regularly since 1995 and it really doesn't get any better than this.

My sister says its incredibly stressful, and that the last two students to jump with engineering majors - the hardest major on campus. She says she hardly ever sees the engineering and architecture majors leave their dorms.

Almost any team in the top 40 can beat each other on any given night. You still have to take care of business. If Coach K can do that for every game, then you have to tip your hat to the guy.

Oh, and Duke can officially thumb their noses at the people (basically everybody, yours truly included) that said they'd be the first #1 out. Whatever happens tomorrow, they're the last 1 standing, "weak" bracket notwithstanding.

Kentucky played like shit last night and they deserved to lose. They flopped because they decided to put out some of their worst players and changed up their shooting style in a last minute decision. Calipari needed to get out there and light a fire under their asses and kick a few of them off the damn court. You just don't make big changes like that in the fucking NCAA Tournament. That's what the regular season is for.

All in all, UK had a good season and kept me on the edge of my seat a few times more than I would have liked. I think I'll root for Tennessee for the rest of the tournament, and when they lose today, I don't know who I'll look up to... :lol

Kentucky's not totally fucked. Orton's coming back next year. Honestly, I would think Bledsoe should stay as well just to get out of Wall's shadow.

Thomas made a couple of big rebounding plays in the second half, although I continue to throw up my hands in exasperation every time he pump fakes into a blocked shot which is pretty much 5 out of 6 times he tries to shoot the ball. Hey, Lance: rebound, d-up, don't shoot.

It comes down to whether or not Duke's "big 3" can be as effective as they were against the Mountaineers and also if Zoubek can stay out of foul trouble. Duke can outsize Butler, certainly, but the Plumlees are not as good on the offensive glass as Zoubek. It's a tradeoff, with the Plumlees, you can perhaps get more offense out of the low post. But with Zoubek, you'll get more offensive opportunities overall. Which, again, brings the big 3 back into the picture: can they put two great games together in a row?
