When I visited my grandparents the other week, I was downright depressed to learn they still kept kosher. No meat and dairy is totally lame, moreso than pork. Kosher was pretty awesome back in the day, for sanitary reasons - but it's totally useless nowadays.

In my immediate family, only my mother keeps kosher. The rest of us eat pork, shellfish, and all that good stuff like it's going out of style.

You've got no idea. In the past, when I've tried to explain being culturally American Jewish without being religious, I'd recite that exact list (in lieu of Abraham, Jacob, and Moses).

For my family and a bunch of others, that stuff was mandatory viewing.

Depends on where you go in the US, there are a lot in Cali, south Florida, and of course NY... but not nearly as many in Middle America. Also, I noticed a lot of Jewish kids have names like Jeremy and Joshua (or other old testament biblical names).
