Looks good.

At first I thought this was gonna be Metroid Gaiden.
Then I thought it was gonna be Super Metroid 2.5D.
Now I have no idea what the hell this is, but it looks awesome-o.
-
see? this is how 3D metroid should be,not that crappy fps
this
not that crappy fps
this
repeat with me
not that crappy fps
this
-
Looks good.
-
I have no fucking clue what the hell they're doing with this title but it's enough to make me buy a new wii.
-
wow wtf
-
Looks good, but skeptical about playing 3D parts of the game without an analogue stick.
-
That was impressive. Of course I'm concerned with a greater emphasis on plot and not having the game strictly on a 2d plane. I don't think it will be better than prime 1.
-
This game picks up straight after Super Metroid and the opening scene is a remake of the final scene from Super Metroid :hyper
That vid was hawt. That 3d scene in the forest was kinda confusing but still looked lovely. Love Metroid FPS, love Metroid sidescrollers. Metroid games have always been good. Bar nothing.
edit: Oh I get it, you switch from sidescrolling to waggle aim for the aiming bits... @1:10

Looks cool, if it plays as well as the Sigma games it should be good even if it's not great.
-
That is definitely a team ninja Metroid game. Looks interesting.
but what the hell is "Other M"...more japanese nonsense titles. Like "Other Metroid" would sound stupid. Metroid: Other Metroid. But wait, if we take off the "-etroid" that'll make it cool and stylish.
-
wow, I was not expecting it to look this good.

Other mission?

other M... samus says baby alot during the cinematics. Talks a lot about Mother Brain. Samus is the mother of the baby metroid. Metroid: Other M (other)
M.O.M

Is that confirmed or is that a marketing hook for hardcore fans to figure out what "M" is?
either way, my point stands...distinguished mentally-challenged.

Its more distinguished mentally-challenged that they shoehorn the metroids into every game just cus that's what the series is called. Should just call it like Legend of Zamus by now.

Told yall. This game is gonna be hot. Stand in line, friends
-
That shit looks hot.
-
Neato potato.
This is what Prime SHOULD have been.
-
the third person stuff looks assy. Prime was a FPS for a reason, third person is crap for this game.
2D or FPS. Pick a side, we're at war.
other than that. this'll probably be the next game i buy for the wii
-
Still a lot to prove. Good to see Samus running, but don't want Ninja Space Gaiden out of this. Like the organic forest environment. Earlier shots were far too plasticine and lacking in a planetary cohesiveness.
The First Person/2d thing is going to be where a lot of people judge it. It needs to be done right. That part where it goes into first person to shoot the middle of a grate for a puzzle seems excessive. That is the sort of thing that should just be done in the side scrolling perspective, but the looking into the distance of the swamp/forest was nice.

With the Wii it will inherently be bad. Think of switching the controller from being on it's side using the DPad to pointing at the Wii sensorbar over and over again for mundane shit like opening a door. They did it like 5 times in that video alone.
Also I'm wondering if some of those FPS parts are going to be on rails.

I felt the FPS portions looked assy. *shrug*
-
I just don't understand the reasoning behind it. I'm worried it will just end up feeling unnecessary. Like I said, the swamp looked like a good use but the grate bit was needless. I'm also worried about the auto-aim dumbing down already simple combat. Enemies were mostly obstacles in the 2d games rather than duels and strategic fights like they had started to become in Prime. Auto-aim doesn't even make them an obstacle anymore. I assume auto aim is a quick fix to hitting enemies on a 2d plane in a somewhat 3d environment, but eh. And the grappling moves are just wrong.
The series needed its speed back, but I hope they don't fuck over the whole of the game along the way. I remember thinking with Prime, that even if it didn't end up a real Metroid game that it could be at least a nice FPS. With this, and the glutton of action games out there, I don't care if its just a good action game. Bring me Metroid.
-
looks cool-ish
I thought it was 2D movement, but sometimes it seems like you can walk up, down and side to side.
-
Looks really cool, but they should have stuck completely to 2.5D, the FPS segments look pretty tacked on.
-
I'm curious to see how the aiming works in those sidescrolling/third person views. In the video it looked like they were shooting their beams in perfect diagonal arcs, but how is that possible with only a d-pad? I could see maybe having to tilt the wiimote maybe while sidescrolling but I don't think that would work in the third person view portions.
-
They've said before that when you are sidescrolling you have magic auto-aim that kills everything for you.
-
I'm genetically hardwired to love sidescrollers, even if they don't scroll to the side.
Also, 2D design is just about one of the few things that can look good without a lot of horsepower behind it, so what the hey, this could not suck in the least bit.
-
JP version shows some extra stuff like over-the-shoulder exploration:

the only good metroid game.
-
looks awesome.
another wii game to the list.
-
the only good metroid game.
ey' nicca fuck u
-
Looks awesome but i'm still confused. can you walk in all directions?
I was under the impression it would be like Shadow complex where there are 3D elements but it all played like a 2D game until you pointed at the screen.
-
You can walk in all directions (well, 8 directions with the D-Pad), but it looks like a lot of narrow tunnel-like areas have the camera oriented in a horizontal fashion (like 2D Metroid). But there are also areas where it's far more open and the camera pulls up and back.
I think the dynamic camera is meant to serve as an indication of where you can go and how open your current area is.
-
can you play with the nunchuck/wii remote?
-
can you play with the nunchuck/wii remote?
no because sakamoto had some weird reason about how he wanted it to be remote only

I'm in this camp, he's probably lazy like me.
