My faith in Matt Smith is renewed. AND THE FUCKING PREVIEW AT THE END OF THE EPISODE LOOKED KILLER. WHAT THE HELL BRITISH DALEKS!?!?!?!??!
I can't say that I was in love with the new screwdriver, though. But out of an entire episode, for my only complaint to be a sonic screwdriver? Fuckin-a.
New TARDIS hotness is fucking sweet too. AND AMELIA POND /SWOON. So cute.
spoiler talk
about the new doctor compared to tennant
spoiler (click to show/hide)
in the few moments where he tried to get intense, I don't think he was able to do it as well as Tennant, but his whole style is different. He is a lot more aloof and weird than Tennant. A lot more cheerful too and not in self-aware way that Tennant was. Obviously I'm not going to directly compare them yet, it's more that I like the differences and that Matt Smith is unique from Tennant.
about the episode

did anyone else thing the whole "the world network is filled with "0" thing was a total "fuck off! to the Series 3 finale :lol
it was the same as when everyone was thinking about the Doctor to re-energize him, except not distinguished mentally-challenged and it actually made sense.
Rewatching with a snack.
Though after some more thought, I am disappointed that

Here we go
First of all, nonspoilertagged comments: HOLY JESUS FUCK PLEASE if you haven't watched this yet, do so. Even if you are new to the series. This is the starting point. Download the fuck out of this. This may be one of my top episodes of the new Doctor Who period.
Now for the spoilers:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
I love the new Doctor, costume, and TARDIS. I loved Tennant too, but damn, the show feels and looks different. BETTER. The writing in that first episode was absolutely classic and amazing. Suspense and horror elements were perfected. It probably is the best single episode of television I have watched in over a year and I watched the entirety of Dexter, some of the new season of 24, one and a half seasons of Buffy, and I'm in the middle of Lost season six. This blows ALL of that away due to the amazing writing.
Second of all, my god, that new companion is fucking smoking. I'm sorry, anyone who thought Billie Piper was the drop dead gorgeous companion, you are FUCKING WRONG. And she seems to be able to some what act. YES.
THAT FUCKING TRAILER. British Daleks, Cybermen, fucking Doctor with a gun, oh fuck me now. We are in for a rollercoaster ride, ladies and gents.
Swaggaz, I'm stealing your avatar.
:bow STEVEN MOFFAT :bow2
:bow MATT SMITH :bow2

nice episode
one thing I liked a lot spoiler (click to show/hide)
:bow Doctor hating on humans again :bow2
Setup of the episode felt like it needed more time to work itself out. Enjoyed it, but the world and conflict needed more time. They also left a lot of things unexplained. Namely:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
Why and when Amy makes that video to herself. The sequence directly preceding her seeing herself on video implies that she saw the horror of truth and immediately hit the Forget button. The message itself felt like something made after other events had happened, and the Doctor making a mistake. For the video to have been made after viewing the information you have to accept that the camera as narrator mislead the audience and that Amy doesn't trust the Doctor to make the right choice, and that she was even considering what the Doctor might do. "Oh this is bad, can't let the Doctor know!" is just kind of a distinguished mentally-challenged thinking that I don't buy. If it's a video she made later in an alternate path of time, it had to be sent back in time somehow. Either way seems iffy.
What mistake did Amy make that the Doctor is upset about? Forgetting what she saw? That's her own choice. Again, this seems to get back to the video Amy made to herself and how it doesn't make sense in the end.
Why can't Britain build its own spaceship if even Scotland can? Is it a giant ghetto in the future?
Why are kids taking scary tests and then being fed to a monster that doesn't eat them?
And back to Amy, she remembers in the end! So much for the Forget button.

My thoughts on the video:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
It makes sense, but it doesn't make sense. Make sense?
She knew the Doctor in the sense that she thought he would do something to ease the pain of the creature (which would destroy the ship) or something else, because he couldn't watch something be in pain like that. So she chose to let the ship keep going, and try to get the Doctor out so he wouldn't have to make the choice, then she chose to forget what she saw. That is why the Doctor was so upset, because she chose to forget and try to hide what she had seen from the Doctor. She made a conscious decision to hide information from the Doctor by choosing to forget, then telling herself to get him out.
As for Amy, well apparently she's just smart. She only forgot what she saw on the video, she pieced together the rest of it from what was seen. She saw that the children were spared, and figured out that the creature wasn't upset with the people, it was trying to save the children, hence them not being eaten.
The one thing I REALLY didn't like about this episode:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
How Smith handled the issue of the Time Lords. It just... didn't seem like a Doctor thing to say. Maybe I'm Tennant spoiled, but it just seemed wrong. It just left a bad taste in my mouth.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
A friend of mine that watched the episode mentioned that Smith will "come into his own" as time passes. She said he was trying to emulate Tennant at times, and that wasn't his character, but the times where he was being his own Doctor, he was good. I'm apt to agree with her. I think he will be good once he is his own Doctor, and drops the Tennant. Tennant is still my favorite so far, but once Smith makes the part his own, he will be a pretty damn good Doctor.
Hey tehjaybo
spoiler (click to show/hide)
I felt at times that Tennant copied Eccelston at first. And honestly, he copied elements of Tom Baker and Peter Davidson (especially Baker) all the time. I agree that the latest will make the part his own, but in ways, that's hard to do considering there's already ten intergalactic crazy characters in the past canon to emulate.
so-so episode

The Weeping Angels freak the shit out of me. :-\
Meh. For some reason, it just seems like the exposition in these episodes goes way too fast. Still a good episode, but I would have to say the weakest of the three so far.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
I would have to say that this Doctor likes to worry about. Just the "we're so fucked" look on his face when the Daleks got away differentiates him from the Tenth.
"But at least you saved the earth, right?"
"At least there's that." :D :( :-\
That episode was just dumb.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
-WWII planes in space shooting lasers
-Android bomb "healed" by becoming human

I'm beginning to think that she is a family member, maybe Moffat is planning on bringing back the Timelords in a couple of years?
The wife stuff is very predictable and by the time they get an older Doctor she is going to be even more old and old people dating is just gross :yuck

River a more grown up version of Amy Pond. Amy Pond = River Song
and River did mention not wanting to go back to prison and that crack following Amy around originally lead to that prison.
or maybe it was the person Amy was living with as a child, like her aunt or something?

Their kiss isn't really known before watching the episode, and some such as myself prefer to go in completely unspoiled. :-[
the theories people are coming up with are amazing and seem totally plausible. seriously some crazy awesome shit if this is planned.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
when The Doctor runs away with River and the other guy while the others guard Amy, we see a second or so later the Doctor come back to comfort Amy and kiss her on the head. Notice that The Doctor that leaves has no jacket, and the one that comforts Amy is wearing one :omg
Also looking back to the first episode, at the end we see the young Amy waiting as she hears the Tardis.
Possibly two doctors with two timelines happening. The one we're following is the adult Amy that grew up with the Doctor returning years later. The timeline is getting erased because the The Doctor did correct his mistake and went back for Amy as a child.
would be pretty fucking awesome if that was what was happening
God, the last episode was so good
BUT:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
-If all of the other events are erased, what the hell happened?
-What happened to all of the other characters that are still alive? (Captain Jack, Rose, etc.) Are they erased too?
-Does the whole earth not know about aliens at all now?
-WHAT THE FUCK.
Can't wait, as usual, until the next episode.
Just got all caught up on the new season and I'm liking it.
The title sequence is pretty good too.

well, spoiler (click to show/hide)
people are guessing that the Dream lord is basically a peek at the Valeyard. It could be a hint for what may come in later episodes if they decide to bring the character back, or it could just a reference to older series. It's an entire confusing thing.
basically, right now we're on the 11th Doctor. The Valeyard is supposed to be created between the 12th and 13th Doctor. But the Doctor encounter the Valeyard before (as the 6th Doctor). Both the Dream lord and Valeyard are made up of the negative stuff The Doctor has. It would make sense if the dream lord is the Valeyard not yet complete.
Next week SPOILERS (not necessarily heavy if you want to look)

The Silurians, who haven't been on Doctor Who since the Fifth Doctor, are returning.
http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Silurian (http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Silurian) for those who want some background info.
This episode was complete shit until the crack appeared.
It wasn't horrible, but it was definitely the weakest this season has been. Chibnall is usually a good writer too... for Torchwood at least. The only other Doctor Who episode he's written was Series 3's "42" which I thought was a good concept at least.
But OH MY GOD did the episode start to kick ass once the crack appeared.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
Rory's death was exceptionally cruel. And emotional. Brilliantly done.
Well, we are finally getting towards the end of the season with the crack in time. So, what does everyone prefer? The RTD way of dropping hints about what the series finale is going to be about throughout the entire series or the Moffat way of reminding everyone about the cracks in time by building up the end episode through reminders and plot points? I'm liking the Moffat way but both are very good executions.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
Wonder what that TARDIS piece means? Are they really going to blow up the TARDIS and make the Doctor earthbound like the Third Doctor was? Chameleon circuit fixed?
GOD, getting pumped for the finale.
If the entire theory of spoiler (click to show/hide)
two doctors, two time lines, one erasing the other is how it will play out, then the destroyed Tardis can just belong to one of them.
So, how about the Van Gogh episode being the best "historical figure" episode of the new series?
spoiler (click to show/hide)
And how about "I'm your new lodger"?
The Van Gogh episode is my favorite from the season so far.

I cried. Twice.
this could potentially end up being the most epic ending to a doctor who series(at least the new series, haven't watched the old one) yet.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
seriously, how does the doctor fix all of existence being erased? gotta be the two doctors, two timelines thing. I mean, I just don't even know what to say at this point about it except that I can't wait til next week.
yeah, the episode was incredible

I think spoiler (click to show/hide)
there are a bunch of hints here or there that could appear in the next episode. Things like why the doctor decided to bring Amy, and at one point he was cut off when about to give his reason, or that voice in the Tardis. Then there are the more subtle ones like the potential second doctor. The entire idea of different timelines and stuff also confuse how River handles all this. Seemingly she does live through this since the future River mentions to the past doctor, but if one time line is crossing over the other, maybe she dies in this timeline.
If I had a theory, it would be that a crack opens inside the pandorica and the doctors goes inside it.
can't wait to see how it is all resolved
Wow
spoiler (click to show/hide)
Ya my guess is another doctor, since they have been showing images of past doctors all season
I have no explanation for how things will turn out, but if it is spoiler (click to show/hide)
the dream master/evil doctor then I have this feeling the dream master episode events may be something following what happens with the pandora box. Somehow Amy will trigger the escape from the situation and the dream master comes back later to figure out how the rory/doctor/amy dynamic works.
Okay, so, if

Tennant came back and rescued Smith, I'd praise this as the best series EVER. But I'm pretty sure he isn't on the credit roll, so :'(
Still, absolutely amazing episode. Please Saturday, hurry the fuck up.
SO:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
if another doctor returns, it HAS to be Tennant. There's like no way any of the other doctors would be young enough to do it (except for Doctor number 5) God knows we don't fucking need Doctor 6 around, and Doctor 8 is so obscure it is highly unlikely they are going that route.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
and why would it have to be ANOTHER doctor. People made note about the same doctor w/ and w/out a coat in an earlier episode, which could have just been a production error, but could also be deeper than that. Why not just the same doctor from a different timeline? I for one would be annoyed if they brought tennant back at this point even for one episode. don't get me wrong, he was a great doctor, I've just really enjoyed smith.

I really thing that if they did bring back Tennant, it would backpedal the whole series this year.

if you are wondering who the plastic people are, watch the first episode of New Doctor Who for an Eccleston explanation, or...

yeah, I don't understand spoiler (click to show/hide)
why Tennant or another actor's doctor would show up. Maybe the next Doctor after Smith, which would be really cool if they give a glimpse of the doctor ~2 series away, but otherwise any hints dropped were about two Smith doctors. That is if there are two doctors at all. There are a lot of ways they can resolve this.
Personally, I like the theory that River is involved in some way with the Tardis, or straight up is the Tardis.
and what the hell, can American's still not play the doctor who game?
