Title: Online dating thread 2.0
Post by: Phoenix Dark on April 09, 2010, 02:41:17 AM
:bow

I find the library and Buffalo Wild Wings to be the best place to meet women, but the online scene is pretty bumping too real talk. I neglected my online accounts for a long time and recently noticed I was getting lots of views at okcupid. Meanwhile PlentyOfFish is eh...still a piece of shit. It's always the same people looking at my profile, the same people being recommended, etc.

sent a pm to this chick

no response, but I'm not expecting one.

Both my accounts are soo outdated. Maybe I'll get better views/responses if I tidy my shit up.

Just because a chick views your profile doesn't mean she's DTF. Also she looks kind of, uh...underage. :-X

Chicks who list themselves as "bi-sexual" tend to be looking for women. Just a word of advice for a professional.

More of a general observation really. I've messaged a few who were bisexual and have never gotten responses. And I've talked to guys in the same situation. We're not ugly men, mind you

Fuck online dating.

I received just one response from a woman on OKCupid, and she only replied to tell me that her standards were high.  :'(

What pic did you use?  :lol

When I set one up to stalk PD's profile I was shocked by how many messages I got. I was too lazy to really take any of it seriously though. Seeing how I got more people messaging me than I would have expected from a profile that was just thrown together I should give it a real chance sometime if I wasn't so lazy.

Does it count even if I pay for it? Cause that's the only way I see it happening for me.

I'll put it like dis', payin' fo' pussy is like buying a Microtransaction that beats the game for you, there's no skill involved and the game is only doin' its job.

If you can't get laid by age 25, maybe 26 at the latest, give up and invest in a love pillow.

Online dating is a pain in the ass.  Okcupid's not very popular here in Canada, it seems there's only freaks on there. (and not the good kind of freak)

as for POF, it seems impossible to actually meet a chick off of there.  I'll get a response maybe one out of ten messages.  Women never initiate messages, either, just the odd first message from uglier chicks.

I would imagine if you wanted a girl who was serious about it you'd use a pay site like Match.com, no?

Yes, but this has the side effect of girls who will go out with you just to get their money's worth out of Match. I met waaaaay more girls off Match than any other dating site, though the girls I met off OKC were much better fits.

:piss Online dating :piss2

Use eharmony's bias towards religious people and get yourself a nice religious girl who wants to have lots of babies on it.  :-*

I created an account a while back but found the only people on there were the same sort of psychopaths I was meeting normally. So it wasn't very useful, just more convenient.

Yeah... considering how things worked out with my last girlfriend (a religious zealot who I met online)... no thanks!

Dating an agnostic girl now who is a much better fit for me, even if she can be a big tomboy sometimes.

Looking at online dating sites and the type of people on it it seems to me it has increasingly become they alternative to chatting people up in bars/clubs/etc for a segment of the population. At least amongst the 20-something age set. Most people I notice on these sites are either hipster-wannabe types, the very religious, or the socially awkward/shy. The type of people who rarely hang out at bars and the like. There is and always will be the far more comfortable and easier way of meeting girls through friends/work but as far as I can tell for the non-bar/club going types this has become their replacement for that.

Hipsters don't hang out at bars?
Hipster wannabes. Not the actual hipsters. The ones who copy it because they have no confidence in their actual personality.

There is no such thing as a faux hipster. That's an oxymoron.

There is no way you can try to be a hipster, because the definition of hipster is already "trying too hard". Trying to dress a certain way to fit in with the crowd automatically makes you a hipster; one can't fake being a hipster, you just become one the minute you make the attempt.

Someone that strives to stick out and be an individual, so they go against as many social norms as possible. Most buy their clothes at the salvation army and dress like they were in the 80s/90s. They ride 10 speed bikes and try to look as poor as possible. Their motivation for most of their persona, is to be ironic.

Also the distinguished mentally-challenged fellows who wear scarves with tshirts in 90 degree weather.
