Seriously? Putting widescreen 480p content in 4:3?
FUCK THIS SHIT.

Get a 360.

my wired PS3 connection to Netflix keeps dropping out and is basically unusable (tho online play and PSN stuff is not problematic).
my wireless Wii connection plays Netflix stuff soooooooooooooo much better. I even tried it on a movie I played before on my PS3 (on one of the few occasions that the damn thing worked) and it fixed the very same problem Bloodwake had.
I cosign the OP's statement.

sounds like a Wii port

I was just going to start using the PS3 for Netflix just so that I don't have to bother with XBL memberships. Demi gave me 3 months but I guess I need more now. Can anyone spare a few?

Are you sure its just not the movie? On the wii there is 4:3 stuff, stuff made 'widescreen' by zooming in which cuts subtitles out, actual widescreen stuff with bars, widescreen stuff without bars, etc.
Its so random that I just assume its different for every movie.

Basically my launch 360 that I cracked open and fixed three years ago is down for the count. I know it's the wrong aspect ratio because everything on screen is stretched vertically. Plus, I was curious about if the later seasons of the X-Files were widescreen on the 360 so I played an episode from season nine a while back in widescreen. I played the same episode on my PS3 and it was in 4:3
Even the stuff that should be in widescreen is a forced 4:3. I know it isn't my DVD settings because anamorphic DVDs work on my PS3. So, fuck the PS3 disc.
Lol, I'm actually going to hook up my Wii so I can watch shit in widescreen. That's pretty sad.
