The combat at least looks playable this time around.

lulz @ these system requirements
http://www.quartertothree.com/game-talk/showthread.php?t=47906&page=2
O.k., I've been messing around a bit with Gothic 4 (PC) and this seems to be the best thread to post this in:
-- be warned: the PC system requirements that are circulating around the web, including on the wiki page, are badly understated -- the is a real hog, especially on in terms of CPU .
-- Here are the revised system specs (note that a Core2Duo CPU isn't sufficient, and 3 GB RAM is also required to "comfortably play the game." The video card requirements are more modest and should raise less issues:
Processor Min: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz, AMD Phenom X4 2.2Ghz (or Tri-core like AMD Phenom X3)
Ram Min: 3GB
Video Card for minimum playability: Geforce 8800 GTX / ATI HD 2600 Pro
Video Card for best results: Geforce 280 GTX / ATI HD 4800 or higher
I will say the game is pretty - better looking than Risen. But I'm surprised the system requirements are so high, especially since it's also being released on consoles, so I thought I should warn early adopters to ensure they don't get burned if they don't have a sufficiently powerful PC

Will get superior 360 version
-
Looks like a poorly-optimized PC version to me.

DreamCatcher Games and JoWooD have announced that a demo version of Arcania - Gothic 4 will be released on September 24 for Xbox 360 and PC.
The demo comprises the first two hours of the game and shows the beginning tutorial level on Feshyr Island featuring selected quests. It's the same demo as that available to attendees of gamescom 2010.

Hehehe from the second video:

I'll be glad to tell you when my copy comes in the mail. Picked one up for $20
-
I've never heard anything good about the 360 version.
-
Ive seen a second hand for 17 euro but people say its poo compared to the PC one.
The PC version has 78% at GameRankings, the Xbox360 version has 62%.

Download is SLOOOOOOW.
-
Game is essentially a refined Risen. Fun stuff.
-
I can only judge from the demos and compared to Risen it seems more focused. Combat is way better, but it seems less open and all that.
-
Another hot 360 game to buy oy me bello
-
The PC version is really pretty. I wonder how the 360 one will compare. :teehee
-
I like that the PC version has 360 pad support
-
seems promising. I liked that they included the patched together fucked up dungeon ending. easily the best part of the demo. that tunneled piece of shit tiny island is going to be annoying to run through again once the game is out. main proper map is supposed to be really huge and open though. controls are a bit too direct, and the characters animations are somewhat crap or there just aren't enough animations. and some hit detection/interaction stuff is a bit funky. but I think I'm really going to enjoy this a lot. I like the part where it reminds me of the desperados games and helldorado aswell. it feels a lot like those when you zoom in on a character and run around in the close third person mode, as opposed to the regular zoomed out tactical view in those games
-
360 demo is out. At least it should be... it wouldnt let me get it online. Trying on console
-
Demo is a technical nightmare as expected on 360. Looks like shit. Wretched frame rate.
-
The more I think about it, the more I enjoyed the game. The story was as trite as can be, but the atmosphere is really well done and that makes exploring fun. The only other major downside is that combat was way to easy. I was playing on the highest difficulty available in the demo and I was never in any real danger of dying (unlike Risen where the combat is janky as hell AND you can die in three hits).
-
Looks great, plays great on 360. Definite purchase. Haven't played Risen to compare. But I don't care... buying them all
Does PC version only let you play to Normal? Wouldnt let me pick Gothic
-
PC version lets you play up to hard, which is a misnomer because the game is still braindead easy.
-
is there even any difference in the demo regardless of difficulty? seems like a fuckup. hope so

I just barely meet the minimum and can play with just about everything cranked up all the way at an average somewhere between 20-25 frames. If I knock it down to medium, it's a pretty smooth 30-35.
Also, the game is really good, although that might be in part to being so much better than Gothic 3 which was possibly the worst modern RPG I've ever played. Combat is way better, and actually pretty decent compared to other similar WRPGs. Voice acting is a bit hit and miss, but I hear anything truly awful and the dialog wasn't broken or stilted for the most part. Graphics are pretty good too, especially on "High". I'll definitely buy this, but maybe not until after I finish New Vegas.
-
All my drivers are up-to-date and my PC just barely meets the minimum requirements (4850e + 4850 + 4GB), but the demo crashes the moment I even look in its general direction. Boo. :'(
