I hate when you see these tiny bare bones scans where you can't see shit but still want to unzip your pants.

Nice.  There aren't many games that are set in South Central LA.

So I see the other characters are the other assassin's you meet in AC2.  I hope the multiplayer aspect isn't crap.

awesome screenshots on the back cover - 2 dudes standing (maybe also talking!) and a villa with nothing in the foreground. A pic or two of someone being assassinated violently would just be too obvious, wouldn't it.

That's not a "villa," it's The Parthenon from THQ's Saints Row 2, in Stilwater. Clearly this is a collaborative multiplayer game, where the Assassin's Brotherhood teams up with the saints to beat back ULTOR.

This.

I have a feeling I probably won't end up playing this much but hopefully the other modes are inventive like this one.

I liked AC2 a looooooooooooooot (which is surprising since I'm an AC1 hater) and I'd love to run around exploring Rome while having more story and mystery.
But I'm pretty against rampant milking like this, plus the AC creator bailed ship and apparently has nothing to do with this game.

So I guess I'll wait and play it when it bombs.

I just realized that the multiplayer is basically a simplified version of The Ship and Ubisoft is also publishing their next game (bloody good time) that has similar gameplay.  I wonder if those guys were involved with the AC:B multiplayer at all.

Will wait for AC3 in a new setting.  This time period and Ezio is pretty played out already between AC2 and the DLC.

Might play this next year when it's $20.

I hope they take AC3 to a really different setting, the first two games were fairly similar so it's starting to feel tired.

A writer for the series has said that AC will never be set in WW2, they don't want to do a setting that's been done a million times.

I think most likely it'll take place sometime in the 1800's.  Lots of interesting world events to go through and the gameplay wouldn't have to change too much as guns are still relatively cumbersome.

I loved the AC1 to death.  Probably my favorite game this gen.  But AC2 didn't catch me.  Maybe it was because my wife's dumbfuck cousins played my game and saved it and progressed the story.  So I started over but the beginning training shit is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too long.  So I haven't had any interest in brotherhood either.  But I should probably go back and finish AC2
Title: Re: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Post by: Raban on November 12, 2010, 02:16:51 PM
I kept hearing AC2 was better, but I haven't gotten it just yet. I played the shit out of AC1 on my PS3 back when I had it, though. Loved it. The combat was a bit shallow, but the solid platforming made up for it.

One of my favorite things about AC1 was finding the flags.  That shit was so fucking fun.  Oh and fighting all the templars.
Title: Re: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Post by: brawndolicious on November 13, 2010, 02:16:34 AM
Brotherhood looks solid but it also looks like it's a bunch of ideas they didn't have enough time for in the first game.  I'm personally just gonna rent it and probably 1000 within 20 hours like I did with AC2, but I'll most likely buy AC3 cause I'm a ho.

The second game was essentially an improvement on everything in the first.  Most notably in the combat and side-missions but the actual platforming and exploration itself was also a lot smoother too.  I personally liked the setting of the first game more from a historical standpoint but climbing the churches and towers in florence and venice that I've actually seen with my own eyes is just a mind-bogglingly awesome.

Single player is just as long as AC2 from those that I know who have played it. It seems it's less focused about Desmond and more about Ezio. Multiplayer is fun I'm looking forward to winning tomorrow nights midnight release tournament.

It's a milking but honestly I'm fine with it. The multiplayer seems different and kinda cool. And I'm actually fine with more Ezio. That was one of my complaints about AC 2 in that his story wasn't really resolved I felt.

There's a lot more upgrade/time/stat management stuff. There's like a whole thing where you recruit other Asassiaasisaisansas and send them on missions and they level up. That stuff is catnip for me.

Probably.  I think it has been delayed like it was last time too.

To be honest, I played PoP Forgotten Sands and an hour or two of splinter cell and I didn't have any problems.  The principle is still complete bullshit, but in practice, I didn't run into any issues.  Surprising since my internet is hardly reliable.  I'll probably play Brotherhood in a year when the PC version comes out and drops to $10, or hopefully like the other two games, one dollar.

I'm really enjoying the multiplayer.  I didn't know it had a leveling system, where you can unlock extra abilities/perks/killstreak and losing streak bonuses.  It feels pretty unique and has a good pacing to it; you need to stay blended in with the crowds or you're an obvious mark/pursuer, and the game rewards you for stealthier kills.  So you need to move with NPCs and try to stop and stand/sit with other characters, although if you're spotted you have to initiate a chase or run and hide from your attacker.  They did a good job of making it feel very similar to the single player.

I tried the sequel to The Ship on XBLA (forget the name) and didn't like it at all.  Brotherhood's multiplayer is a bit like that, but done much, much better IMO.

This is not a game for idiots; every now and then you'll get some moron running and jumping around, making it that much easier to take him/her out.  95% of the people playing are smart enough not to use mics, too.  It's all about staying inconspicuous, so your typical XBL loudmouth-bro-tard is going to go down HARD.   :lol

The multi in this can be either GENIUS or distinguished mentally-challenged AS FUCK

I love the idea. I didnt think AC needed multi, but this is done VERY well

The problem is, as usual, players at higher level have better perks and can sniff you out qucker than shit.

I only played like 3 matches and I'm already Level 5. However, you can boost once you hit Level 5 so I'm done with AC multi and will boost to Level 50 ^_^

Brotherhood is a textbook example of adding too much bullshit to an already perfect game. Full of padded bullshit. Want to spend money on the shops? Cant do that, the Borgia Tower is in the way. Want to burn the Borgia Tower? Cant do that, need to kill the captain who is dug deep among the tons of soldiers.

Jesus fucking christ

Just bought Brotherhood and I had to laugh at the instruction "booklet" that came with it.  It's literally just one page with the controller layout.  I was wondering why the case felt so light before I opened it up.

Almost all of the third party big budget AAAAAAAAA summer blockbuster games have sad manuals. On the other hand, the poor companies who publish niche games usually have nice full color manuals. I understand the reasoning for it, but that shit is backwards.

Same. I audibly laughed when I saw it.

Multiplayer is the bee's knees. Finally a game with online that actually makes me feel like I didn't waste my money on Gold. Last game I ended in first. It was weird because about 5 kills in everything but my compass was removed from my HUD. Is this supposed to happen?

No, it is a glitch. It happens sometimes even when you dont do shit, like boosting.

Got up to Level 33 so far.

Play-Asia is probably just counting on you being bombed soon, so they're not worried about customer support until the whole "war" thing resolves.

God damnit.  I just lost 3 of my level 7 assassins on a contract.  :violin  Just thinking about having to level up some new fuckers again makes me want to ram my head through my tv.

Time to turn this shit off for today.

This game kind of feels overwhelming at times.  It's almost like there's just TOO much stuff to do.  I'm constantly getting side tracked with a bunch on inconsequential nonsense.

And I don't know if I like the new "full synchronization" stuff.  Some of the stipulations to get a full snyc end up making the game seem pretty fucking tedious at times.  I finally stopped caring about it and just started doing shit my own way and found it to be much more enjoyable.  Maybe I'll go back to those missions and try to get full syncs but right now it just seems like that kind of stuff is getting in the way rather than enhancing anything.

Not that it really matters or anything but I have no idea what's going on anymore as far as Enzio's story goes.  They lost me.  ACII was much easier for me to follow than this.  I suppose it'd help if I bothered to read all the background info the game gives you on the characters and locations but they throw so much of it at you that I just finally gave up. Information overload.  Infact everything about this game screams excess. It's a completionist's nightmare.  It's the DK64 of...um...assassin games.

I'm diggin' it but it can be a bit much at times.

Brutus' armor = fail

Why is it that in both AC2 and AC Brotherhood the "ultimate" armor looks like fucking clown pajamas?  This is what I get for doing all the Lairs of Romulus?  Pfft.  Back to the default bedsheets I was wearing before.
Title: Re: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Post by: Hitler Stole My Potato on November 28, 2010, 09:07:21 PM
I guess I should've expected it was going to look ridiculous in the end seeing how all the followers of Romulus were wearing dogs on their heads.  In this case the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. I just wish that just once they'd give us something that actually looks good instead of some stupid outfit that looks like a costume I'd see on some fat fuck at a Renaissance fair.  Screw historical accuracy. I wanted Altair's armor in AC2 not some pants made from an awning of an ice cream shop.  I can only imagine the clown shoes of an idea they'll come up with for AC3.

fuck me. this game's awesome. so much content. at first I thought it'd be a cash-in but maaaaan Rome is so much different from the other cities, I love the horseriding inside the city and the kinda outdoorsy locations.

Don't push it Ubisoft and make a third one in this time period though, or you will anger Sho Nuff

There's a big AC planned for next year. Ubisoft wants this to be their Call of Duty.

They can do it as long as they do a new time period. Gotta keep those UBI sister studios busy cranking out assets

I havent finished the game yet - SUPER close to though, but the only things that really pissed me off:

- Obtuse "Full Sync" goals, do yourself a favor and dont bother with these aside from the achievement
- Horrid stealth... or rather, horrid detection
- Levels that make you run from guards, except guards will run up to you ad bap you with their swords and fuck you up
- Too much following, not enough blending in/escort/full alert

When the game flows, its OMG CUM better than AC2, but then you hit a super low point and you just want to take a big greasy shit on it

Also I mentioned it earlier but the heaps on heaps of shit they make you do just to complete 1 goal (Borgia Towers)

Kotaku did a review and said it wasn't worth it.

Meanwhile, my 2-5day shipping has turned into 14 days and counting. My co-worker is calling customs today

Finished it and I'm just as confused now as I was before.  I'm going to have to read a breakdown somewhere so I can make some sense of all this.  And holy fuck at the credits scroll.  I've never seen so many names for a videogame.  Hell, I think if you've ever heard of Brotherhood before you probably got your name listed at the end.

Just finished this.  What a dumb game.  Nothing happened the entire game and the missions were a mixed bag of some good stealth, some bad stealth.  Gameplay was solid, but the entire thing felt like a full price DLC pack.  AC3 better be awesome.  Maybe it'll be like DMC where every other game in the series is great.

Put this on the back burner for awhile but getting back to it now and enjoying it. They seem to improve on every outing. They took the frankly boring and tedious easy combat from the last two games and just made it even easier and bad-ass with the kill chains and your posse of ninja's you can call up on. It's like instead of making that part more in depth and tedious they just make you feel like a bad ass and get through it real fast which was a clever call.

So this is better than AC2?
Title: Re: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Post by: Stoney Mason on February 17, 2011, 01:10:22 AM
Umm.... It seems more refined to a degree. I mean its very similar to the prior game. They just seem to fix a couple of systems in every game. Like some things I hated from AC 2 are better just because they've gotten another crack at it. But overall its a very similar game to AC 2 So basically how much you liked that one will determine how much you like this one.
