New Super Mario Brothers Wii
Super Mario Galaxy 2

WiiWare:
Graduis/Contra/Castlevania ReBirth
Cave Story

As a Ninja Team fan, I'm interested in Metroid Other M as well.  Nintendo consoles have always been secondary systems in my console rotation, but the exclusive games have been worth it.

Oh right, I forgot Metroid Other M. The latest trailer got me hyped. Looks real different from past Metroid's and I love Team Ninja.

I heard the No More Heroes games are decent, but I've never picked them up or rented them.  I was hoping the HD version of the first games were going to be decent, but I hear they're abortions as far as up ports are concerned, which is sad.

I'm cautious because I have a hacked psp and sometimes that causes trouble because you can't play such and such game or use such and such feature due to being hacked and in need of a certain firmware update.

Black Wiis are updated to 4.2 by default, and their DVD drives are unable to run backups. They also have the updated boot2 so you cant run bootmii. You can still hack it for USB, but you have to jump a lot of hoops and fiddle with lots of software. It's not as painless as a PSP, you can and could fuck your Wii up. Nintendo has methods now of knowing if you fucked with your Wii, and will simply say "Fuck You" if you try to send it in.

wow, didn't know the latest wiis could do that.  Kind of surprised Nintendo has the edge on hackers with 4.2 as Nintendo protection is generally shit and hacked very quickly and easily.

i ranted about it in like 50 posts in a single thread where i hold my ground like some sort of weeaboo hero so you can search the topic and read it there

but in short it's not half as good as the original, they made tons of change and they end up bringing the game down,it's still a decent game but since it's atlus published,it's probably rare and if you have to hunt for it,it's not worth the effort

also why don't you get punch-out? it's kinda short but it's good fun and a very good reboot unlike new super mario bros which feels like they just slapped 3D and boring music in super mario bros 3

Added to my gamefly queue:

- Mario Galaxy
- No More Heroes 1/2
- Metroid Prime 3 (how is this?)
- New Super Mario Bros
- Resident Evil: UC
- Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

Buying HotD and Mad World because I'm a Sega taco. Also ordered Resident Evil 4 wii because I'd like to play with wiimote even though I'm sure the game isn't optimized for such play (ie. make the game too easy).

mmm...
zack & wiki? it's sort of a puzzle game,it can be annoying since you can die and everytime you die you either have to redo all the puzzle you solved (you see the game is divided in levels so if you die,you restart at the beginning of the level) or pay with a limited amount of coins

i always says that little king story is awesome,it's basicaly pikmin but with a lot more japanese zany in it (yeah i always have to try to sell the game i'm sorry  :-[)

have you tought about getting some gamecube game?

I have a pretty decent gamecube collection. I don't think I could add anything else to it.

People say Little King's Story is great but I think it looks a little eh, but since it's so touted I might as well throw it on the list.

How much are wiiware games on average?

Also, have nintendo 64 games been dropped in price? When I owned a wii last time, they were charging like 10 bucks for nintendo 64 games. Have some dropped in price? Then again, the only things I'd buy are OoT and MM.

What Gamecube games do you own?

Zelda Collectors Disk
Mario Sunshine
Killer 7
PN03
Resident Evil 4
Skies of Arcadia
REmake
RE0
F-Zero GX
Wind Waker

I think the only things I'm probably missing are Super Monkey Ball and Eternal Darkness.

I've probably played them. Although I don't own them, I've played Animal Crossing, Pikmin 1 and 2, Smash Bros Melee and others extensively at friend's.

And then there's stuff I used to own but sold or traded down the stream of time like Tales of Symphonia and Metroid Prime, although I have never played Baten Kaitos and its prequel/sequel and my fellow homojapuals recommend those games.

don't you like one piece himu?
there is a somewhat decent action game

the fighting it's kinda bland like dynasty warriors but the cellshading is awesome and there is tons of item skulldiggery like "I NEED TO GATHER 10 IVY SO I CAN MAKE A BETTER FISHING POLE,THEN I USE THE FISHING POLE TO FISH A CROCODILE,THEN I COMBINE THIS CROCODILE WITH THIS INSECT I CAUGHT TO CREATE A BAG WHICH GIVE ME MORE INVENTORY SPACE" and there are light rpg element like as you use your standard combo more and more, you get more hits or different special attack

there are two of them, one is called unlimited adventure, the other unlimited cruise, unlimited cruise is separated in 2 parts for no apparent reason other than they want you to pay twice for the game (like with .hack) most review about the game says the game is HORRIBLE! because you can't proceed with the game unless you don't gather enough item and i admit it can get annoying but i kinda love gathering stuff so it really didn't bother me that much

also both game have no real plot, they end up on a island and they must fight their memories or some stuff like that, adventure goes up to the arc with frankie, while cruise up to skull guy arc

Although One Piece is my favorite Japanese comic book series and one of my favorite animu's the game doesn't look my thing. I've said for years that a One Piece action adventure in the same vein as Wind Waker/BG&E would be the best game ever...but. :(

Lesse...
Geometry Wars Galaxies - awesomesauce and sells for $20 new now if you can find it
Klonoa - rad if you've not played it on the psone already and can't get that version via PS3
Kororipna 1 & 2 - If you liked the acid trippiness of SMG you'll probably like these. Insane labrynth style marble rollin' which has been praised on here before
Mario is racing a Kart on Wii - the first Wii game to not have utter shit online via wifi. You probably already know if you want this or not. It's a Mario Kart game. On Wii. Yay?
Metal Slug Anthology - Do you like blowing shit up mixed with some wacky jappy comic style? Then you will like this.
Muramasa - like playing a Miyazaki film. Fuckin beautiful albeit a tad simplistic fun.
NSMBWii - a bit on the short side and more of a rental unless you're gonna fuck around with your buds lots.
NMH - The first one has more Wii-centric neatness but a bit more tedium via having to repeat jobs in order to raise the $$$ for fights. The second doesn't have as much tedium but also seem to have a bit less, shall we say, whimsy? :uguu
Ur Mr Gay - If you don't like this game I don't like you  :gun
Mario is Super, thanx for asking, also Paper - Was supposed to be a GC game and it shows a bit in the controls. Longer than NSMBWii so if you're out for more single player plumber shit besides the galaxy game this is the way to go.
Brawl - Brawl is fuckin' rad. Sure it's a bit stupid and 'not a real fighting game' whatever the fuck that means but it's, like, fun, man.
...That's about it for decent stuff that I am in posession of. If you can get homebrew going emulate the fuck out of the NES and SNES, a lot of the good shit on those machines still holds up.

It just has the best story, writing, characters, etc. (basically everything besides the combat) in a Mario RPG. Nothing too serious obviously, just lighthearted fun. Same timing-based combat as the other games though, so if you don't like that then yeah might as well skip it.

Wow, you never played SMG up until now? Goodness gracious.

I'm still waiting to play it.

I figure by the time I break down and buy a Wii, SMG and SMG2 will be dirt cheap along with some other stuff so it won't feel like a complete waste like my gamecube was.

TTYD isn't bad,i've had tons of fun the first time i played trough it but replaying it recently it just didn't have the same punch...

basicaly it uses the same timed hit system in every other mario rpg and uh... you get partner, each come with a different ability to use,and the story is made of quirky segments altough sometimes it gets boring

Nah... I dont think so. Mario 64 didnt make me run back and forth for silly comets, or Sunshine (afaik). I agree that the games would get boring.

I heard the No More Heroes games are decent, but I've never picked them up or rented them.  I was hoping the HD version of the first games were going to be decent, but I hear they're abortions as far as up ports are concerned, which is sad.

It is supposed to be getting a mega-patch to fix all its problems in the next week or two.

that list only goes 30 days back, in case you haven't noticed. it's really not that hard to troll the wii. put in a little more effort.

Wii trolls should put in as little effort as developers do.

Played a bit of Muramasa, it looks absolutely stunning and is a pretty decent action-brawler. It's a billion times better than Odin Sphere, and if you're a 2D whore like I am, it's a must own.

Kororinpa: Marble Mania is a lot of fun, if you like marble rolling. It doesn't have a lot of levels, unfortunately, and can be beaten in a few hours... The sequel has a lot more content, unfortunately, it also fucked up the controls big-time.

Klonoa, if you never played it on PS1 (I haven't), is a really fun 2.5D platformer, that actually gets challenging towards the end of the game.

FF:CC: The Crystal Bearers, I recently finished it, and it's fairly entertaining but shallow and filled with its share of issues. It's one of the best looking Wii games (if you can get over the jaggies), and the mechanic (telekinesis to pick up monsters and fling them at each other) is cool, they also use it in pretty creative ways (aim a Bomb into the ground to set a mine, pick up a Cactuar and it shoots spikes everywhere). The characters are cool, perky and upbeat but not annoying... Great music, VA sucks though. There are a lot of dodgy waggle minigames interspersed with the action. If you can get it cheap, it's worth it.

Opoona is supposed to actually be decent, and can be had for only $10. I bought it but never played it.

Get the homebrew channel, it's damn sweet. I just installed it earlier today on a Wii which had the 4.2 firmware following that video above and the links to files it had. It can't brick your wii and you need it if you want to do the softmod for playing 'backups' later. I don't think there's any difference bar the DVD drives in the white and black and I just finished modding mine and didn't touch the dvd drive. I'll be running from USB anyway. definitely not DVD's.

If something else messes up - GPU errors, DVD drive errors, Nintendo will check for any modification and see Homebrew Channel and tell him to fuck off.

I would wait until any warranties are up before modifiying my fresh new Wii.

After they received the Wii, they wrote him back and said that because he had unauthorized software installed (something they could not fix themselves — but more on this later), it would cost $200 for them to do any repair.  He had them just send him back the Wii, they would not work on it. They sent him back his Wii

I will try and provide brief impressions to the games I own or have played (for more than an hour).  Just as a reference, I don't mind mini-game collections if they're good; if I say something like Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games is bad, it means it even fails at being a being a shallow momentary distraction.

Mario Strikers Charged:     Fun arcade soccer game.  Great multiplayer, think it has online too.
Pro Evo Soccer 2008:     Different kind of soccer game based around the pointers.  Good game.
Marble Saga Kororinpa (2nd one):     The best Marble Madness/Monkey Ball style game on the Wii.
House of the Dead Overkill:     Great light/rail gun shooter mix, and while I didn't care for the wannabe grind house cutscenes, others liked it.
House of the Dead 2&3:    It's house of the dead 2 and 3...yeah.  If you have a Lightgun shell like Nyko's Perfect Shot, this has a calibration tool to make it control "right"
Ghost Squad:    Ditto to everything with HOTD2&3.
Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles:      Similar to HOTD Overkill but total garbage.  Pass on it.
MLB Power Pros:     It's a japanese baseball game.  Easiest way to describe it would be to say it is like RBI Baseball on the NES.
Nights 2:     Haven't played much but seems enjoyable.  Original Nights was great and this didn't seem as good, but I still want to go back to it.
Links Crossbow Training:      It's like $2 and is a fun target shooter, rail shooter, lightgun shooter, third person shooter based around assets from Twilight Princess.
Warioware Smooth Moves:     It's Warioware where the gimmick is now a bunch of waggle games.  It's fun.
Boom Blox:     haven't played the sequel, but the first one is a really fun puzzle game.  It's about chain reactions and physics and stuff, kinda like Burnout Crash mode.
NSMB Wii:     Awesome.  It's a bit easy, the music and general style is lacking whimsy, and some levels resort to waggle dipshittery, but it's a 2D mario with great single and multiplayer.
Mario Party 8:     Garbage
Mario and Sonic Olympic Games:     Ultra Garbage
Dead Space Extraction:    Got bored after an hour.  Seems as much about having you watch cutscenes in first person than being a lightgun/railgun shooter.  Looks great, at least.
Red Steel:     Broken FPS/waggle slash game set in racist modern Japan.  Still, uh, if you enjoy bad games that still provide some entertainment, this is one.
Red Steel 2:     Only played about an hour and it seems fun.  Lacked the impact of a first person brawler and felt more like shallow Devil May Cry in first person.  Will buy it eventually.
Sin and Punishment 2:     Only played a bit but it was pretty awesome.  Runs smooth and has great pointer controls with no waggle shit.
Silent Hill Shattered Memories:     More Heavy Rain or Myst than Silent Hill.  Walk around environments, solve neat puzzles, and occasionally deal with terrible chases.  I liked it.
Punch-Out:     It's Punch Out 1 on NES.  That's pretty much it.  If you played Punch Out on NES, you have played this.
Final Fantasy CC Crystal Bearers:     Tiesto's impressions are spot on.  Shallow lighthearted entertainment.  I enjoyed it.
Excite Truck:     Feels like off road burnout.  As much about earning stars from driving than it is about placing.  Really fun racing game.
ExciteBots:     Trash.  Takes Excite Truck concept and turns it into doing stupid mini-games on a loop.
No More Heroes:   Shallow action game.  It has style and that makes it entertaining, especially the boss fights, and after NMH2 I appreciated this game more.
No More Heroes 2:    Trash.  Bad action game with no personality.  If you enjoyed the first game at all, I dunno, but NMH2 feels like a giant waste of time.
Metroid Prime 3 (or Trilogy):    Really, if you played Metroid Prime 1 or 2, you know that MP3 is already.  Big change are the controls, which are great pointer controls now.
Wii Sports Resort:     Ping pong, bowling, golf and sword fighting are awesome.  The rest are boring.
Wii Sports:    Like WSR, but older and worse.  Best parts from WS are recreated in WSR.
Mario Kart Wii:    I think it is one of the weakest Mario Kart games, but still entertaining.  Feels very slow and requires less skill than older games.  Fairly sterile look, too.
Zack and Wiki:    It's a puzzle game made up of puzzles you'd find in an adventure game.  I think it's great despite the occasional control issues.
Wario Land Shake It:     Really super easy 2D platformer that is most worth it for how nice it looks, especially in motion (more than Muramasa and Odin Sphere)
Little Kings Story:     Awesome game.  Mix of Pikmin, city builder, and shooter with whimsy out the ass.  Best Wii game of last year.
Resident Evil 4 Wii:   Best and most complete version of RE4.  Worth buying it again.
MadWorld:  I liked someone else's description of an inferior Dead Rising.  You use environment on enemies to build points to unlock boss fight.  It's fun, not great.
Gundam Sensen (import):   It's an FPS Gundam game with a squad, customization, and a lot of missions to take on.  Great but it is an import, so no english.
Tatsunoko vs Capcom (import):   Haven't played the US verison but the import is basically a shallower version of MvC.
Disaster Day of Crisis (import):  Entire game is a Michael Bay wankfest.  The story is basically The Rock.  The game itself is a bad lightgun game mixed with waggle mini-games.
Tenchu 4 Shadow Assassins:   Awesome.  Action/puzzle stealth with wonky Wii controls.  If you have a PSP, get that version instead.
Sonic and Secret Rings:     Not good.  It's one of those games where people claim it's "sonic in 3D done right" because you run really fast, but it's just boring.
Elebits:   Fun game where you have a gravity gun and throw chair and shit around a room to find little creatures.
Batallion Wars 2:   Barely played this because I found it boring.  Seems like third person squad based shooter or something.
Castlevania Judgement:   Shallow by arena fighter standards with neat Castlevania fanservice.  Not worth it.
We Love Golf:   Trash.  Controls don't work.
Super Swing Golf Pangya:   Like Hot Shots/Mario Golf with worse controls.  Actually, if you get a Golf game, get Tiger Woods that supports Motion plus.
SSX Blur:    Not good.  If it didn't have terrible controls it would be interesting, but it does!
Super Paper Mario:    Boring mario action rpg that is SO BORING
Klonoa:    It's a Klonoa 1 remake.   Awesome if you haven't played it before, still awesome if you are playing it again.
The Conduit:   Trashy first person shooter on Wii.  If you own any other system, there are far better FPS games to play.
Wii Music:   Trash.  You waggle to free midi music and shit like that.  Insulting by baby toy standards.
Victorious Boxers Revolution:   aka Hajime no Ippo boxing game that isn't as good as the PS2 games.
DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3:   fun Dragon Ball Z fighting game with pretty much every character from DB, DBZ, and DBGT.
Samba De Amigo:    It's Samba De Amigo if the controls didn't work.
Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz:   Trash.  Get Kororinpa.

oh, and Wiiware:

Bit.Trip Beat:  entertaining pong based rhythm game
Art Style Orbital or w/e they call it:   Great game based around gravity and planet orbits.
Castlevania:   It's a pre-SOTN Castlevania game and it's pretty awesome.
Lost Winds:   Short but entertaining.
Cave Story:   If it's like Cave Story on PC, it's awesome.  Metroid style game.

I'm forgetting a few games.  I sold a lot of my Wii games and since most were so boring I forgot about them.  But one I just saw on my shelf was Smash Bros Brawl; that game is pretty fun.  Single player is a weak platformer/action game and multiplayer feels like a dumbed down Melee.  Still worth it if you enjoyed Melee.

probably not worth 50 dollars, so wait for a price drop or give it a rent,  but it's the best sword fighting game i've ever played.

Post by: cool breeze on May 12, 2010, 03:05:14 AM
based on my brief time with Red Steel 2, Wii Sports Resort sword fighting was a lot more satisfying.  Red Steel 2 feels like a paper fan simulator.  I'll still buy it eventually since I heard later moves feel better and it seemed fun.  All I'm saying is that I hit a guy once in WSR with a kendo sword and he gets knocked around; in RS2, I slash back and forth and the dude just stands there like I didn't just slash him a couple times with a sharp metal sword.

Like, play breakdown or maken x.  hitting enemies in those games is so satisfying.

...how long did you play red steel 2? it's biggest strength is that it makes you feel like a total badass. the first hour is basically an extended tutorial, but from then on you start unlocking more and more sword maneuvers and weaponry.

i really wanted to like maken x, but then i played it. i'm a DC lover, but that control scheme was such a POS.

it's a boring game

thereoticaly this should be a puzzle game but in most of the stage you can only use 2-3 transformation making it pretty easy to figure out what to do and even then sometimes there are billboards telling you straight what to do

but awwwwwwwwwwww isn't the little kid cute when he hugs the blob after pressing the hug button  :-[

Klonoa isn't a straight port,it's Klonoa 1 done like Klonoa 2,voice acting (altough you can still use the cute squeaky voices) and redone cutscene

that said i think the game lost something in the meanwhile, either that or i simply didn't like klonoa a second time

Super Mario Galaxy is the first Mario since Yoshi's Island to get it right. Although I love Sunshine, it's not perfect and not what I wold consider a masterpiece. Galaxy, however, is the complete package. The more I play the better it gets and the more in-depth the level design becomes. Simply put, this could be one of the few games I consider perfect, but I'll have to keep playing. It's so refreshing to play a Mario game with actually good, tight level design again.

I haven't played a level or task that felt like a complete waste of time in Galaxy yet, which is far cry to Sunshine, World, 3, 1, and most especially 64.

No More Heroes is not Killer 7. But it's about the next best thing.

The only thing I dislike so far are the crappy side-missions and overworld but other than that, it's pretty standard Suda 51 shenanigans, although not nearly as off the wall as K7, but not many games are.

Ripping a dude in half with the wiimote is so satisfying and the dialogue is hilarious. I also like how it makes digs at otaku sub-culture: "moe!" and Travis' extensive animie/figurine/t-shirt collection. :lol

I played it for around 40 minutes to an hour somewhere in the middle of the game.  Only thing I remember is fighting a dude with a chaingun at one point who shot me through walls, and there was a part with a train.

and the controls from Maken X are pretty much exactly what Retro used for Metroid Prime.  Just random information.

Because I don't have time to play online games, I don't like the controls, and the progression seems like an MMO, which I hate.  I also don't like PSO for all the same reasons.
Give MH a single player 15 hour action game spinoff like dino crisis 2 and I'm in.

And trauma team is not my kind of thing.  Playing with body parts is not a "fun videogame" for me.

"Beat" Mario Galaxy.

I say beat because I haven't unlocked Luigi. I want to, but I think it's time to move onto NMH 1/2.

Game is better than my other favorite 3d platformers. Suffice to say, Nintendo did not disappoint. A masterpiece, and by far and beyond the best Mario, even better than Yoshi's Island, which I thought would be an impossible feat. I also didn't imagine this but I don't think I've liked a game this gen as much as Mario Galaxy. I think I like it more than Portal, Resident Evil 5 and Dead Rising, something I didn't picture when I first booted the game up.

I tried out Mad World and I'm sorry to say I took it back. The gore is really off putting and I'm someone who likes gore in games. But Mad World is ridiculous and disgusting. Game tries too hard. I want to feel cool when playing an action game, not like a demented psychopath.

Yeah, SMG is still my game of the generation. Can't wait for SMG2.
Madworld is very trash.

I can't imagine how they can improve the formula but Yoshi will certainly be a great addition.

There isn't really much to improve imo. I haven't read any impressions, so I don't know what they've changed, except for Mario having more power-up suits and Yoshi.
It's been two years since I've played the original game. I really need my Galaxy fix.

It's funny. In past gens some of my favorite games were rpgs, but aside from Mass Effect 2 - which I would almost consider an rpg lite - I can't say any of the rpgs I've played this gen rank among my favorite games of the generation. I mean, Tales of Vesperia, Blue Dragon, Fallout 3, Mass Effect 1, Demon's Souls...they're all great games, but I wouldn't want to touch them ever again and it's getting harder and harder to want to invest time into rpgs unless it's an SMT or DQ game. Oh well, c'est la vie.

But my problem with it doesn't have to do with the game's design but the overly violent nature, which makes me sick and that's not going to change anytime soon.

oh for fucking sake himu, you went on a rant because the ps3 version of NMH was censored and now you are saying that mad world is too gory? do you suffer from double personality or what?

What Himu?

The violence is a lot more funny than it is grotesque. Other than being a really fun and funny game, it really is something you shouldn't miss.

this! the gore in mad world is so silly i could re-enact it if i had tons of ketchup packs!

Himuro, Madworld is pretty bad.

The basic combat is decent but that's about it.  The game is four hours long with no unlockables.  So you blaze through it once and there is absolutely nothing to keep you playing.  It feels half-finished.  There's no reward for trying to score higher and the scoring system as is, is totally busted.

I think if they had let the game cook for another year and added more to it, it could've been a great game.  But it feels like a half-assed action game that has nothing on god hand or any good beat 'em up.

The matsuno story is ...eh, ok.

uh anyway i guess i should throw my 2 cent about mad world
i loved the game but here's the reason
very few games try their hand at humor and when there is a game that try his hand at dark humor that's something that's more unique than rare

for example
Kreese: You know, on that first version of Martin he shot those out of his crotch.
Howard: I remember that, the censors made him change it because they said it made the death less family friendly.
Kreese: I wouldn't let my kids watch.
Howard: You got kids?
Kreese: That's what the courts tell me.

the game itself has a kickass soundtrack but somewhat bland gameplay, you pick someone and then proceed to throw it at the first spiky thing you see (heck they even make a joke about that, one of the commenters says "i like jack style,he either breaks stuff with people or break people with stuffs!") and then repeat until the game says you can go kill the boss

i guess the developer realized this so in every level they throw a bloodsport challenge which usualy involve killing tons of guys in some weird way,for example in one of them you have to put the baddies in barrel so they explode in a firework style, another has you using the baddies has darts by lobbing them at a giant target with a baseball bat,it really helps making the game feel more unique

then there are the boss battle's and they are more of the "wait until the boss drop it's guard and then hit it" variety but still not really that bad,and when you kill one you are also forced in a QTE to deal the final blow but they feel a little better thanks to motion control

I think it's worth beating for the Matsuno story and couple of good boss fights.  Plus I mean <4 hours!  You will finish it in 1 day if you don't mind the repetition.

MadWorld...yeah

I'm guessing you're renting or  :pirate these games, and if not, Madworld goes for $7 on Amazon, so I don't think length is a concern.  The game feels like an arcade game and I wouldn't complain that Turtles in Time or X-men are short games.  The game itself is alright.  Again, it is an arcade like game so there is that repetition and earning higher scores in it.  Boss fights are mostly fun despite lacking a lot of personality, which is what made NMH1 entertaining (note: NMH2 is duller than Madworld.  NMH2 reaches unknown levels of dull.  That game is a tumbleweed on wheat toast in a grey room).  Best part of Madworld is the music and how it works with each level's theme.  The game generally looks neat too, both with the designs and overall black and white stuff.   I think it would have been better if they made it a pure brawler.  As it is, it's brawler mixed with the faffing item combo kills from Dead Rising, just not nearly as good.

My point still stands.  Madworld is dirt cheap for new so I don't think game length is a big concern.  And keep the receipt for NMH2.

God Hand is great, but it's a little overrated (like all of Clover/Platinum's games). It definitely doesn't hold up to the two kings of the genre, Ninja Gaiden and DMC. As far as second string action games go, I'd put Shinobi ahead of it as well.

Mad World is absolutely abysmal though. It's a joke to even mention alongside real action games.

God Hand was soooo awesome... the control scheme was unorthodox but worked surprisingly well, the game had wacky jappy in spades, and the first stage theme song was badass. This was one of the only times I'm glad I listened to GAF about a game, when I saw it in a Circuit City bargain bin for $15.

Most people agree that NMH1 is a good game.  It's budget and janky but it's got heart + soul + originality + punk.  The shmup stage on the train is still absolutely genius.  As was the cannon puzzle boss that followed with the old-school western NMH theme playing leading up to it.

Unfortunately NMH2 sucks.

yeah, NMH2 is terrible

nothing happens in the game.  it's just a whole lot of nothing.  no personality, no nothing.  the best part of the game is when you drive your motorcycle down an empty street for a minute or two just watching the background.  that was exhilarating compared to the rest of the game.

I don't read GAF so I don't know what the weaboo distinguished mentally-challenged fellow opinion is about the game but NMH2 is scoring higher than the original on a majority of if not all review sites. Whether or not that matters is personal opinion of course but I think it's relevant to your comment.

I went back to Galaxy. I just popped it in for a few stars and ended up getting a shit load more. God this game is perfect. Any time I play it I have to get more and more stars.

Tried out Wii Sports Resort...it's impressive. Surprisingly. It's mostly due to the technology. Pre-Motion + games aren't NEARLY as precise. Goddamn the next Zelda is going to be something else.
