I want to set up Entourage (or Mail) on my macbook with exchange so I can sync my work mail to my home computer.
What exactly does Exchange sync? Just the content (mail, calendar, folder structure) or also all the settings (preferably). I took over the mail box of my predecessor and it's highly customized (very elaborate folder structure, e-mail rules, mark as read stuff, signatures, etc). Can it sync everything even with it's a different program (or version?) like Mail or Entourage (which is MS's name for Outlook in Office for Mac). Can it cause conflicts in any way? Like it's not all of a sudden going to mark my unread email as read? Or execute email rules incorrectly so they don't appear in the right folder on my macbook, messing up my work pc too when I open outlook there.
I just don't want to mess anything up cause it's important for me I can contain it, at least on the computer at work.

It should only sync, contacts and calendars. Not rules or folder structures.

If you set it up as an actual Exchange connection it'll pull down pretty much everything, including all mail, contacts, and folder structures. It should also grab your rules as well.
