Every Queen album has been in my rotation ever since Willco suggested I listen to Live At Wembley last year. That's almost a year of Queen on constant rotation.
And I can't get enough. Every album is spectacular, they have so many hits and great songs - epic 8 minute long songs, beautiful symphonic songs, great love songs, power songs that get you pumped, energetic metal songs, songs that cheer you up on a bad day, inspirational songs...the whole spectrum. And what's more is that each member contributed heavily to the band's identity.
People act as if the band was only Mercury, but May was a talented song writer (Prophet's Song plz) and excellent guitarist. Roger Taylor was a fantastic drummer and a great song writer in his own right (I'm In Love with my Car). Even though John Deacon never really sang, he rocked the house as a bassist and wrote a shit load of great Queen classics (Another One Bites the Dust for starters).
It's the ultimate band. They go from metal, to a more pop rock sound, then start experimenting with rock opera, then as they continue into the 80's experiment with synthesizers and electronic music.
Queen > The Beatles

Queen is great but at least Led Zeppelin is better. Also, Beatles had better songs although edge in technical ability is debatable.

Brian May wrote and composed arguably the best Queen song, that being Prophet's Song.

May is actually behind a surprising amount of awesome shit from Queen, which makes it really sad to see how much poorer his output has been after Freddie's death.

Star Fleet Project is cool. But Back to the Light and Another World are depressing to anyone who grew their hair out because of May. :'(

Queen rocks.

I don't think Zepp touches Queen, though they're a great band. Beatles has a lot of great songs, but more than half of their discography sucks.
LZ kills Queen in terms of technical ability but I agree with you that Queen had a broader spectrum of songs.

I agree LZ has better technical ability, for the most part. But I don't think that makes them a better band.

Just the other day went to a birthday party with a friend, and it was all up in the north of the country. We went the whole way listening to Queen. We were so fired up, awesome night, got wasted as shit.
Next morning i was waking up in the bed of a friend and 30 min later was having lunch with his parents and girlfriend, eating some thing
with the worst goddamn headache.
Went back home all the way listening to Queen again.
-
I've only watched Live at Wembley.
PS: That trip sounds awesome.

Oh please.
About every single Beatles album up till Revolver or Rubber Soul is antiquated, outdated pap. Sgt. Pepper's is their first legitimately great album, and even that's stained by filler (Within You Without You which is horrible, Lovely Rita, Getting Better), White Album is great but is all over the place, Let it Be kinda sucks...Abbey Road stands as the one Beatles album I think is consistent from beginning to end and I don't want to skip any tracks.
Great band, but inconsistent as fuck partly because John was a dickhead and there obviously wasn't unity within the band.
-
Fuck you. You can't even make a "Queen is awesome, this is an appreciation thread!" You have to shit on The Beatles? A pathetic troll.
I shit on this thread. I shit on you.
-
Who is shitting on the Beatles?
-
Whatchu talkin' 'bout, Ichi?
stfu, Coleman. It's in the fucking OP.
"Queen > The Beatles"
All a sad attempt to get more replies in what would otherwise be a fairly dead thread with four or five people saying "Yeah, Queen rocks."
-
Who is remotely trolling the Beatles?
Saying the Beatles aren't a perfect band is a troll now? Whatever, cuz...

As The Beatles would say
I'M LOOKING THROUGH YOU

That doesn't mean I'm hating on the beatles, though. I think they're both great.
This is why no one likes beatles fanatics.
-
Like anything could ever touch the Beatles. Does queen have any songs nearly as good as even the deep cuts of the Beatles such as "It's All Too Much"? No.
The only good Queen song is Bicycle Race.
-
I was afraid that Methodis would come here to praise Queen.
All is well.

Help is a great album that's pre Rubber Soul. Let It Be is awesome if you listen to the Naked version, and how the fuck do you bash Within You, Without You and Getting Better? Jesus are you sure you're Malek or BrandNew?
-
:teehee
-
Sigh.
Help is a pretty good album, I'll admit but that's not helping your case. This puts The Beatles with like 5-6 average to great albums out of eleventy billion.
Within You, Without You sucks because it's overly long and fucking boring. It goes on and on. It sounds good at first, but then it puts me to sleep.
Getting Better isn't bad, but I don't like it either. What gets me about Getting Better are the stupid juvenile lyrics in the first verse,"I used to be mad about school, the teachers who taught me weren't cool" is pretty John Lennon-ish in that it comes off like it was written by a douchebag.
Let It Be is average and kinda sucks. I don't care if the Naked version is somehow supposedly better.
Also, Malek disagrees with my sentiment. He's a huge Beatles fan. How do you not know this?
-
Are you seriously going to blame 20 year old's lyrics as being too juvenile?
-
And I know Malek is a "huge" beatles fan, but he's a poser Beatles fan, a fakie.
-
Are you seriously going to blame 20 year old's lyrics as being too juvenile?
I apologize for having standards. Also, if Malek is a fake Beatles fan then I don't know what to say, you're off your rocker.
Anyways, I need to come up with a Queen Car Mix. It would be awesome and fun putting it together.

It's not Overly Long, it's a great song using a sitar in one of the first instances of using one in a pop song. It's not my fault you don't get it's concept.

This is so wrong, have you even heard any of the naked version?

Let It Be is a increidbly jazzy amazing album. You just can't listen to the Phil Spector shit.

I get the concept. It's a great song until it puts me to sleep. It's a 5 minutes of George singing in the worst way possible. It should have been a 2-3 minute song.
Anyways, you suck and you're a crappy thread shitter.
I could post every fucking song from Queen II it's so good. Fucking beast of an album.

Queen only has one Album. But it was released in small parts throughout time.

The Beatles tangent in this thread is nonsense trollin'. Not only did Queen record more albums than the Beatles (eleventy billion ::)) prior to Mercury's death, but a significant number of them are flat-out terrible. A handful of (admittedly amazing) singles aside, their 80's output is pretty awful. It's comparable to Paul McCartney's solo career.
And Queen were consistent? They were only consistent at being especially inconsistent. It's part of their charm.
