Dude, why you gotta go and ruin E3 like that?spoiler (click to show/hide)I take it people at GAF are freaking out over "spoilers"... right?[close]
Valhalla Game Studios' latest game will be exclusively revealed on Friday 11th June at 8:30pm Pacific Time on Spike TV's pre-E3 show as well as in exclusive interviews on Eurogamer, Famitsu and Kotaku. (June 11, 2010)
Ninja Gaiden is his only good game/franchise. I'm a bit sceptical.

Finally, DOA > Tekken.
Finally, Bayonetta will be dethroned
Finally, NG2 will be dethroned
Bayonetta is a more complete game and better as a whole, but the combat in NG2 still shames everything else in existence. So it's still the king.Agreed. I love Bayonetta though.

:rofl :rofl :rofl, I still can't decide which fighting game is shittier MK or DOA.
THQ is good,have faith
This fits in their Metro 2033 strategy...
By people with shit taste in fighting games?
looks like it's set in modern day-ish with swords AND guns.
third person shooter? i am genuinely sad now.
i've watched the trailer several times now and just cannot see anything worth getting excited over.
it looks like a sequel to wet... which is not a good thing at all.
animu fans upset the game has guns :lolanimu is part of evilbore.
Looks like Ninja Gaiden 2 re-skinned.

Never play NG2?
or see it?
This looks nothing like ninja gaiden aside from swords and blood.
What is the current development status?
Itagaki: I would say about 5 to 10%? I have just started. Things like the core game engine is done; the multiplayer matchmaking is really fun and is being finished; it is all pretty raw; more polish is still needed; I want to make it a great thing.
Recently, I've changed my thoughts about the general approach to development. The parts of the game that we really have to make, that only [Valhalla] can make, we'll do that. For the parts that other people can do better, we'll get help. Yes, we'll be working with THQ studios, but the multiplayer demo we showed earlier, that was all developed internally. The way programmers think, if they can do it themselves, they'll do it. You have to do everything triple-A or just not both
Why are people mentioning tits? There was zero jiggle in that trailer and hardly any skin showing.
One of the big surprises is that the game is multiplatform for both PS3 and Xbox 360. Given Itagaki's history at Team Ninja, many had been expecting an Xbox 360 exclusive release. Asked about the selection of platforms, Itagaki said, "This way, a greater number of fans would be able to play it."
Valhalla is working on the PS3 version. In fact, Itagaki says they created a team specifically for making the game multiplatform. "If we didn't write the game engine code, it wouldn't be 'Devil's Third.' Engineers who wrote code for the PlayStation 3 CELL and RSX are also taking part." He also said that they're receiving support from THQ.
While THQ did not share release information, Itagaki hinted that the two versions would arrive simultaneously. "If you do it multiplatform, a simultaneous release becomes a requirement," said Itagaki. The reason for this, he said, is that if you don't do a simultaneous release, you get stuck in endless cycle where neither the developer nor the player ends up happy.
Didn't Valhalla just get started? Of course the game is super early in development.
If it has some online multi-player then I'll probably end up picking it up.
Then I'm there.
He also said to expect some interesting things during multiplayer combat

which is strange for Itagaki :lol
the game was made for multiplatform from the get go (sorry maxy) and the reason was the most obviousQuoteOne of the big surprises is that the game is multiplatform for both PS3 and Xbox 360. Eurogamer: One of the things that characterised Ninja Gaiden was quite a severe difficulty level - is that something we can expect from this game or is it more accessible?
Tomonobu Itagaki: Compared to the time when we made that game, we've kind of developed to the point where we want to and can make games that appeal to a broader audience. It's harder to make easy-to-play and fun games than it is to make a hard-to-play and fun game. I feel that now we've compiled enough experience over these genres that we can do a good job of making a game that is both easy to get into and fun.
Along those lines, as you mentioned earlier, making the last 10 per cent of the game takes 50 per cent of the time - you're correct that we will spend a long time on the last 10 per cent of this game as well. That is one of the main reasons that I decided to work with THQ - we can do that here. Danny has been very clear on that concept - that we will only make good games.
Danny Bilson: [Following conversation off-call] Yeah I don't mind. Very roughly - we haven't announced any kind of date - but you can imagine it's roughly two years from now. Roughly.

he will probably compliment tekken in his next interview.
Eurogamer: Cool. Could I ask that question to Mr Itagaki as well? What do you think of 3D technology?
Tomonobu Itagaki: I'm very interested in looking into 3D. We've been looking at what's available for 3D PC games, and I also have a 3D TV at home now.
Eurogamer: Something you were quite famous for during the period you were developing Ninja Gaiden for Xbox 360 was your distaste for the PS3 and its complexity. Do you still feel that way or have you changed your mind?
Tomonobu Itagaki: Well you know, when I'm talking to girls, I'll say I like one more than the other, but when we're talking about hardware I really don't have much preference. When I was speaking about hardware, [it was] if I were to build the machine, maybe I would do it that way, but it's kind of an engineering approach discussion - I have no emotional involvement in the issue.
Eurogamer: Mr Itagaki, I know you're sort of solidly moved on from Tecmo these days, but I was wondering what you thought of Dead or Alive Paradise?
Tomonobu Itagaki: Tecmo gave me the game as a present, but I've not had time to play it yet. But I have a good relationship with Tecmo now - we're all friends.

Looks Bro, Bros
Oh darn. Looks like Itagaki had to compromise on his vision because of the PS3 version.
:piss RSX :piss2

He could mean that as 2010 being the first year and 2011 being the second and it releasing sometime next year.
It would be incredibly foolish of them to launch this in 2012.
Devil’s Third teaser/behind the scenes video shows game will be featured at TGS
There's a game coming out called "Space Marine"? LOL, I hope that it's an ironic parody or something...
working hard on it = itagaki getting laid
oh u devil
game is never ever releasing.
@patrickklepek: THQ "in discussion" with other companies regarding Itagaki's Devil's Third. No longer "fits THQ's profile."”

The future of Devil's Third is up in the air.
Game seemed like it was in dev hell anyways. Itagaki should go work on Rising.
I don't even understand when they announced it and said it was 4 years away or something. How do you even plan to have that long of dev cycle from the start? Why spend that much time on a new game idea that might not even pan out? Game should have been out by now.
Farrell noted in the call to investors this evening that THQ was currently in discussions with third-parties regarding Tomonobu Itagaki’s Devil’s Third which he said no longer “fits THQ’s profile.” The driving force for this, according to Farrell, was loss of profitability due to two “unforeseen development events.”
One of these unforeseen events was that the company which provided Valhalla with the game engine went out of business. THQ had to help Itagaki and Valhalla with procuring a new engine “which cost a fair amount of money,” said Farrell.
The second reason was the current Yen and Dollar conversion rates. Both contributed to the loss of profitability, despite Devil’s Third being an “excellent franchise.”
Farrell said THQ has enjoyed working with Itagaki and will do what it can to make sure the game comes to the market – albeit through a third-party.
Can't see why a publisher with a particular interest in the Japanese market would back Itagaki. His games sell way better in America. In Japan, he's Suda51 levels of irrelevant.

Not many, I think.

Nintendo will discontinue network connectivity features for Devil's Third, Valhalla Studios' Wii U exclusive according to a notice on its customer support site. Ahead of disconnecting the game's online service on Dec. 28 at 8 p.m. PT, the company will sell the digital version at half price on the eShop; Devil's Third now costs $29.99.
Downloadable content will no longer be sold beginning June 27 at 9 a.m. PT. The Golden Egg add-ons were priced between $3.99 and $19.99 and could be traded for various weapon enhancements and cosmetic items.
Devil's Third only made it stateside last December, despite launching in August 2015 in other territories. Nintendo of America first announced it would publish the game in 2014, but the stayed quiet on its release before announcing the release date that July.
Originally set to be published by THQ, Devil's Third spent years in development at Valhalla, the studio formed by former Team Ninja member Tomonobu Itagaki. Once THQ declared bankruptcy, Itagaki regained the rights to the game, and it switched platforms from Xbox 360 to Wii U in the process. Once the game finally made it stateside, it wasn't exactly well-received — Polygon included it on our "Worst Games of 2015" round-up.
A free-to-play, multiplayer-only version is set for a Windows PC release, although it remains unscheduled.
game is never ever releasing.
Maybe Nintendo will pick it up! :omg
