Title: So after E3, what happened to the yearly xmas rush?
Post by: Bebpo on June 16, 2010, 06:55:19 PM
It it just me or does this years x-mas rush seem really...light?  Almost all the big hitters are early 2011 (Gears, Killzone, MvC3, Dead Space 2)

I mean what do we have in the fall-xmas (as in September onward) announced?

X360:
-Halo Reach

PS3:
-LBP2
-GT5

X360/PS3:
-Castlevania 3D
-Medal of Honor
-AC Brotherhood
-CoD Black Ops
-Fallout NV

PSP:
-The Third Birthday
-KH BBS

Wii:
-Kirby
-Wii Party
-Donkey Kong

DS:
EO3

Compared to last year with Uncharted 2, Halo ODST, Brutal Legend, Ratchet, MW2, AC2, etc... it seems pretty light.  Especially this far into a console cycle.  Did they decide Spring was the new Fall and now EVERYBODY is in Spring instead and we have the same problem?

You forgot Gran Turismo 5 and Donkey Kong.

added them.  Still seems pretty light and big lack of huge AAA hitters.

Or maybe this year just doesn't have much for my tastes.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
Gran Turismo 5
Fallout New Vegas
Kirby
Call of Duty Black Ops
Vanquish (?)

Valkyria 2 is fall 2010 I think. Not like anyone is going to buy it anyway.

I'm not sure I'd say this holiday is weak, just boring. Sequels everywhere with barely an original game in sight.

k, added those.  Don't think Vanquish is this year though.  Wish it were!

Fallout New Vegas
Assasins Creed Brotherhood
Fable 3
NFS Hot Pursuit
Mafia 2

That said some publishers have realised (shockingly) that throwing all your shit at the wall over a 6 week period isn't good for business.

I'm just getting the $129 game and keyboard bundle. I'm good with my current drum set and toy guitars. My wife, shockingly, wants the keyboard.  :o

It's not lists so much as normally during E3 they announce all kinds of cool new games to fill out the fall/xmas schedule.  Yet this year 90% of what's at E3 is 2011.  There's hardly anything being talked about for 2010.  It's like the year is already over and forgotten.  Very strange year and seemingly lacking in major games.

I see myself spending most of the fall/winter playing backlog titles at this rate.  Just seems, as iconoclast pointed out, like a boring lineup.

New Vegas is really the only game I'm looking forward to.

I'm sure we'll get them in the US eventually. In the year 2076.

I know, my list shrunk pretty much to Fallout: New Vegas and Halo: Reach (maybe). I was really looking forward to Dead Space 2 and Portal 2. I might pick up that new Need for Speed game if it's any good now.

Take Willco's list and subtract Fallout and include the maybe and exclude the 2s and mights.

That's my list.

I'll end up buying Black Ops and Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam, because I can't get enough of the war we never won.

Fallout: New Vegas and NFS is all I need

I'm wafflin' on GT5 'cause trying to get all the cars in GT3 quite possibly burned me out on the series forever

Civ 5, Fallout NV, Rock Band 3...there is some good stuff coming out.

Was there any word on Dead Rising 2? Anything else from Bethesda? Haven't really checked.

A.) Why are you putting Brutal Legend among this group? And Halo ODST?
B.) For me this fall is just as packed as last year. The Better Halo game is this year versus the retread you named.

I'm probably going to play this fall at a minimum

Crysis 2 (or is that pushed back to next year?)
Black Ops
Fallout New Vegas
Civ 5
Mafia 2
Halo Reach
TDU 2 (purely personal pick but I loved the first)

as of now I only have these games ordered

Mafia 2
Halo Reach
Kingdom Hearts PSP

I know Civ 5 and New Vegas are 2010 and I'm getting those two.  There are a lot of upcoming games I'm interested in but I honestly can't keep up with what games are 2010 or 2011.
