Title: Not to be outdone by Shyamalan, Nic Cage and Turteltaub trash Disney history
Post by: Great Rumbler on July 09, 2010, 10:11:37 PM
Quote from: FilmsinReview.com
Cage gets paid and kisses Monica Bellucci. I burned off 2 hours in Hell. This movie is not for kids, it's for toddlers.

Quote from: Hollywood Reporter
A tired relic of summer-movie cliches, clearly beaten to death by far too many credited writers.

Quote from: Variety
A noisy, f/x-spewing cauldron of a movie.

5 reviews, 0% and 3.5 average.

Honestly, I'm not surprised.

Seriously. At least the Last Airbender's flop was a surprise to SOME people who actually watch film. This is no surprise.

I was watching some ad for The Sorcerer's Apprentice and they were talking about how it was going to be respectful of the original Mickey Mouse short.  :lol

I like the part where Undeclared goes "these are old man shoes" and Nic Cage looks offended and Undeclared goes "I love them!"

Better than Avatar based on that scene alone.

I like the part where the kid gets hit in the crotch, that was hilarious.

flop? it has already made back half its budget and it's not even out internationally yet

Just watched the trailer, can't believe they're even playing at it being an "adaptation" of the Fantasia short :lol

Pretty sure the studio doesn't give a crap as long as it makes its money back.

And Shyamalan has a feud going with critics so he doesn't really give a shit about the low rotten tomatoes score.

The movie will make money for Paramount and Shyamalan will be able to get his next project green-lit, I doubt he cares if everyone thinks his movie is shitty.

He probably tells himself he doesn't care, at least.

Unfortunately, this is true. Our only hope is that Paramount's like "This would have made even more money if you weren't so incompetent" and hire Chris Columbus or somebody for the next one.

Or that they just cancel it like studios did with the planned sequels to Golden Compass and Eragon.

I'd rather Shamalama have work than Chris Columbus.

Chris Columbus can at least make a fantasy movie that isn't as boring as watching paint dry.

Creatively. When a movie is compared to Battlefield Earth, it's a flop, regardless of how much money it made.

Like what?  Those first two Harry Potter movies were pretty damn boring.  Plus Chris Columbus is responsible for producing Monkeybone.  If there were any justice in Hollywood there would be no coming back from Monkeybone.

Joe Dante directed Gremlins.  And in film, as we all know, the director is the auteur.  :-*

And Henry Selick actually directed it! But we all give him a free pass.

Gremlins is a fun movie, but it's basically just an allegory for how scary black people are.  That's as deep as Columbus goes, I think.  At least The SixthSense had some interesting ideas behind it.

Yea my mom bought a $5 dvd of Gremlins for me half a year ago; I hadn't seen it in like a decade. I watched it and couldn't believe how stereotypically black the Gremlins acted  :lol

Fuck Gremlins. Due to that movie and Temple of Doom the PG-13 rating exists.

I never would have considered Gremlins to have racial connotations before this thread.  :lol
