Title: Superman Returns... now I want him to go away again.

This arrived in the mail today, and I am now getting into it.

It's certainly a GOOD Superman game... not that it takes much. I've been mostly fighting robots. And doing races with Myzxyptci or whoever. I don't know the Superman universe.

Bizarro events are ok. Just smash crap up and beat the score. Me Am Bizarro

The world is pretty huge, but it's kinda -too- huge. Everything is so spaced apart and it's really unnecessary.

The sense of speed isn't really there. You fly around, and you can hear him going faster to break the sound barrier, but when you make that leap, it seems like you are still going the same speed. And when you stop... that's it. He stops. Kaput. There has to be at least some momentum yet... but no. Boom. Done.

There are 100 kittens to find on this HUGE map too, but the controller vibrates when you are near one (it's a cat's purr). I found a map that has all the locations of them, so fuck that. I think the game actually comes with a map that shows all 100, which is pretty stupid. Why do that? Or it might be from a guide. I think there's a guide, anyway.

I plan on getting 100% of the achievements in this game. None of them are actually HARD, it's just statistics crap. Fly 10000 Miles, Lift up 100 cars, lift up 100 TONS of shit... stuff like that.

It's not really a good game, and it's not really a bad game. It's just... Superman. And robots.

Is the game better or worse than the movie it was based upon?

You have to save kittens? Did the developers not bother with the Superman backstory at all?

Admittedly I haven't seen the movie either, and this is perhaps a salient plot point, but why not find 100 Mother Boxes or something else that makes sense in context?

I played the 360 one. It's a average GTA clone with Superman. I do admit I enjoyed picking up humans and blasting off and setting them on top of skyscrappers then lighting them on fire so they run off the edge and fall.  :-\

It's a huge dissapointment considering the movie was pretty great.

That sounds pretty evil, but i'd probably try it once myself.  :lol

It's basically the "collectable" part, like how GTA has packages. This is ridiculous because these cats are SMALL, and the city is HUGE. So you have to scan EVERY single detail of this city to even get your controller to vibrate (cat's purr), signaling one nearby. I found some scans of the guide that showed all the locations so I am just using that. But if you didn't have a guide... hoo boy. Right now I'm up to 16/100, doing them in order.

Yeah I saw that, that's in the achievements, didn't think that was the last boss. That should be hilarious. Do you even fight Lex Luthor at all? It seems like it's all third rate villains like Metallo and Mongrel. Oh well.

I'm inclined to say Spider-Man 2 is better because that universe is better. I've never played that either.

It's better in that the city is MUCH larger, you can fly, and you can interact with the cars and people (toss around, destroy, freeze,etc...)

But Spidey 2 just felt more complete and more polished overall.

If you press the left bumper, you will coast in the direction you are flying.  It's a totally useless move though.

I was really excited for this game based on the demo but I found the full release to be pretty craptacular.  The demo was about 95% of the final game really.   Three enemy types, no random crimes (just random monster/robot attacks), only third stringer villians (no Brainiac fights? wtf) and fairly uninspired missions make for a boring game.

Ok, I beat the game. That was laughable. Giant tornados... lol.

I need 3 more achievements. I'm doing the "Fly 10000 Miles" one right now. But how am I typing while I am doing this?

I should get the "Play 12 Hours" while doing this, then once this is finished, I just need to "Lift 10,000 Tons" (which is like 20,000,000 LBS in-game), and voila. Done.

Sure, achievements are piss easy to get, I've had the game for like 2 days? Just 2 more achievements left.
