Title: I brushed my own gums off

So I notice this tingling in my lower teeth and check inside my mouth and my lower gums have disappeared. The dentist said I brushed my teeth too hard and ripped them off. Shit sucks

At least your teeth are super duper clean.

Did your dentist tell you not to brush side to side, only up and down?  I found side to side wears a ridge in your tooth next to the gum, exposing the enamel.

Sounds like you have periodontal disease. There's more to receding gums/lost gums than brushing your teeth "too hard," which is ridiculous

Seriously, there has to be more to this. I can't imagine a dentist telling someone "looks like you brush too hard. Here's a kid toothbrush, use it delicately. Kthnxbye"
