Rifftrax shorts are good and some of the movies are really great. They just make so many that they get stretched really thin a lot.

I saw cinematic titanic live a few weeks ago. Pretty good stuff. Lots of the MST3K guys. Though now they all read their riffs off iPads. :lol

Rifftrax is too full of modern references and jokes and it simply isn't as solid (Justin Beiber jokes). It feels like they crack jokes to fill time rather than because the joke was actually funny. Its decent for what it is but its leagues short of mst3k.

Ripping on undeniably god awful films and older films is a lot more fun than ripping on the mix of films they do now.

Doesn't hurt that the cinematic guys have the more talented crop of the MST3k crew (Joel, Trace Beaulieu, TV's Frank).

Plus I think older films were simply far worse. Even in technical areas. A shitty modern movie is often shitty but is often technically competent. Stuff like Coleman Francis is just in a league of its own (Although we do get stuff like The Room). But I agree with your point. When they mock older films its sort of like a re-interpretation of the movie which is more satisfying to me.

I will admit I generally enjoy their takes on the modern harry potter films. I always find myself enjoying those.

Agreed 100%. I love when they do that rather than just make fun of random individual elements scene by scene

Yeah with the proliferation of cable channels it sort of boggles my mind that somebody won't do this. Even Adult Swim or somebody.

Maybe we are just a bunch of niche nerds but it seems like this is such an obvious and awesome idea.

I thought that but was pretty surprised when I saw Cinematic Titanic live a few weeks ago they were able to completely sell out a pretty large auditorium.
