Title: Future of gaming. OnLive |OT|
Post by: naff on July 21, 2010, 10:37:05 PM
Anyone going to try this? There's currently a first in first served sign-up where you get your first year free then 4.95$ per month for future years. If I was an Amurrican I'd definitely try this out.

I know there's already a couple (http://www.evilbore.com/forum/index.php?topic=32890.0) of threads (http://www.evilbore.com/forum/index.php?topic=29300.0) about this but I thought now this has kinda properly launched we could start fresh and get some Boritos impressions. Guess no one's interested...

Most of the PC guys here have awesome machines with giant Steam backlogs anyway, it's not much use to us.

My internet connection is nowhere near good enough for this sort of thing.

Also, like pilonv1 said, we've already got a backlog on Steam.

currently it doesn't support wireless connections from your laptop/pc to your router, so thats a big drawback for me.

Or did I read that wrong?

the point is that NON "PC guys" (a much bigger audience, even here) can now try out PC games on the cheap

I can't even conceive how/why they would do this. Wouldn't they mean like 3G wireless. Not just standard home router wireless. That's the routers problem not theirs.

I can see why people with PCs might not bother downloading the client but I can imagine it picking up a lot more interest with the mainstream when that microconsole hits that can just hook into your tv to play some games with mouse and kb or their shitty lookin pad. In fact, I'd do it if it was real cheap and worked reasonably well. PC gaming with the ease and pricepoint of a console. Pretty much I'd probably just get it to play Blizzard games (SC2 and D3) down the track.... If I was American.

actually looks pretty good.
