Title: Mad Men season 4
Post by: Himu on July 26, 2010, 10:50:20 AM
WHY IS THERE NOT A THREAD? Fail.

First episode was great. Lots of great moments:

1. *Don gets his face slapped while having some hanky panky* "...Do it again" *slap* "Again!" :lol
2. Peggy and Pete pulling a stupid marketing stunt
3. Betty being a BEE-ITCH
4. The little girl getting sick from the food! :rofl

Such a great episode with so many great moments. Covers a decent amount of time too. I noticed the season doesn't start in the fall this year? I guess that's because of the bloodbath that is 1965? Is this the final season?

Is this the final season?

No, they're signed through season five.

I liked it.

What's with the Marsha/John thing?  Way over my head I guess.

The end of the episode kind of made me hopeful for Don.

The interview with WSJ is going to be brilliant. Can't wait for the aftermath in episode 2.

What about it?  That he can brag to a reporter and this time come off cocky and obnoxious.  His childhood and time in Korea fucked him up for sure.

That he is willing to change to go along with the times, just like how his company, the country and world (both brought up as being in "dark times" during the episode) are during the time period. He wasn't bragging to the reporter, he was showing how risque his company is. It's the polar opposite of the direction the "modest" company with a two-piece bathing suit had in mind. I think Don feels most alive while at work and the scene at the end made me happy.

He did the second interview because he recognized that it was time to adapt.  It's the same reason he kicked the prude bikini execs out of his office.  My guess would be that if they mention the interview in the next episode it will have gone over well.

edit: beaten badly  :-\

Pete said just as much in his little talk with Don after the Jantzen debacle.

We got glimpses of Pete the social activist at the end of season three, I wonder if that will resurface?

Also, my wife thinks Joan's husband is gonna die over in Vietnam.

That makes sense. As crazy as an ordeal the husband put Joan through, the show sort of demands she be a free agent.

Draper's daughter is totally going to be a woodstock hippie by the end of the series.

They've already bumped it up to '65, and while I guess going to be cool to watch what they're just on the cusp of, I just can't help but feel like no matter how hard they try, and no matter how well written, the show is gonna turn into Forrest Gump  :(

Great episode tonight. I loved Roger and Don dealing (or not dealing with, as it were) with Gardner, Jr. on the phone.
