Title: New Looney Toons Short!

Three of these shorts will be released theatrically. This is one is a clip of Coyote Falls, which will be attached to Cats and Dogs 2

Yup the next is Further Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

After that is King of the Elves. That one was dead, but Lasseter has a new protege in Chris Williams so he put him on it and it's the hand drawn movie after Pooh.

Following that is a new one from the directors of Princess and the Frog and one other.

That's only one studio. Hey, I love hand drawn animation. I would love a full on revival. But movie executives just look at the bottom line. And the Princess and the Frog's BO take wasn't up to expectations.

Except this is Warner and they release two hand-drawn movies a year.

The truth is obviously somewhere between 'dead in America' and 'full-on revival' though, right? Lasseter is one of the most important people in animation right now, and I presume his love of it is not going away. If they need to do it with a lower budget, I'm sure they can work around that. He has no real reason to be involved with Disney itself if he doesn't want to do hand-drawn stuff once in a while.

The trouble is not the rendering medium, but the effort and time that go into it. I'm consistently stunned by how crappy the Disney TV shows using CG tend to be. But no-one in their right mind complains about the quality of Pixar movies. It's not CG, it's what they're doing with it that's crappy. Not like there's a shortage of crappy cel animation, anyway.
