Good news: Fabregas staying with Arsenal. Kind of shocked at the naked way that Barcelona and its players pursued him. I realize that pro soccer has completely different norms about player acquisitions and tampering than the major North American sports, but this went above and beyond.
Bad news: DC United completely sucks. They've got a couple promising young players (the first graduates of their youth academy) but otherwise it's a turrible season.

No, fuck you.

I'd imagine the Arsenal fans won't be too mad. Not like I have my pulse on the opinion of a bunch of people an ocean away, but practically everyone must know his status as a Barcelona trainee, his family's ties to Barcelona, and what the team means to Basque players, as it's all been repeated in the media ad nauseum.
This wasn't a player wanting away for a new contract, which would have gotten a different sort of reaction.
If anything, I think there's a gradual disgruntlement growing at Wenger's refusal to compete with Chelsea and Man U in terms of spending. I'd throw Man City in there, but nobody's going to keep up with that.

So I can see Russia getting the World Cup, but Qatar? Really?
-
Some dude said that they picked qatar so that they can raise more interest in football :lol I literally laughed out loud, the middle east as a whole love football something fierce. Anyway it won't work out as good as they think it will, Qatar is fucking small.
I was listening to talk about this on the radio, and they were saying that Qatar's presentation was devoted largely to talking about how having the World Cup in Qatar would help their "war ravaged region". Bring the whole family to "war ravaged" Qatar! :lol

That $80,000 per capita annual income is just too ravaged.
