You're addicted to the rush of buying something you were looking forward to, not so much the game when you actually get it. I kinda had this problem back when I was trying to juggle a ps2, gba, and a gamecube. I'd say, dedicate yourself to one or two platforms that would suit you, think really hard about what genres you actually like, and realise you don't need to buy multiple franchises in the same genre. If you like First Person Shooters for example, don't buy every major release that's going to come out that year. Research your options and try to buy that one FPS that's going to have good replay value and that you're going to stick with in the long run.
Simply play your backlog. I generally have a shitload of older games I never completed.
But if you must play the new stuff, honestly gamefly is a god send. I literally don't understand why everybody doesn't use such a service. I get to sample everything without dropping $60 dollars all the time. I can't believe I use to waste so much money on games when a gamefly account saves me so much in the long run.

He's in New Zealand... unless they deliver games via sheep
I also find it helps if you don't hype shit too much, in fact, just try to ignore a game until its released if you can. I was pretty psyched for mega man 9 and the wait took forever.

Waiting? Maybe if you're PS3 or Wii exclusive. 360 fans and the PC Elite are never without quality gaming :bow
I suggest playing Tomb Raider Underworld that way you won't want to touch another fucking game for months. I tried playing it a few hours today and I just said to myself, "I'm done with this shit." I then went outside and pruned my apple trees. That was infinitely more entertaining.
^ :rofl
I actually liked TR Underworld.
Yeah, I think the problem is not the quantity of titles I have to play (I have a big JRPG backlog and plenty of great games I can go back to for more achievements), but the fact of there just isn't enough going on in my life at the moment.
- mindless 40hr a week job
- comfortable social life, but kinda quiet atm becuase it's Winter here
- no girlfriend at present, so no time spent with botanical gardens/fancy restaurants/sexing/watching DVDs that only she wants to watch
thus the most taxing thing I have to worry about is when a new piece of downloadable content is coming out. 75% of my gaming purchases these days are DLC or XBLA games, so the whole 'retail therapy' explanation doesn't work really.
All this shall change soon, however. I will be studying a diploma of interactive visual design so I should hopefully be much more stimulated within about a months time. And then the great software will be flowing like wine because I'll be doing school stuff in the meantime. Hopefully. I dunno, maybe I just need a holiday. I forgot to take my meds over the weekend so my head is going to explode from all the thinking. Bah

That's why it pays to be uninformed 8)
Dead Rising Case Zero is releasing August 1st 2012 for me

Ah. Well that sucks. Surprising that not every country has such a service. I looked for one in Sweden for Skidmark but couldn't find one.

My gaming taste has been condensed down to liking a few staple series. The main game I'm interested in is Elder Scrolls 5 and fortunately New Vegas is coming out in October. Other than that, maybe FF Versus XIII.
So you guys are starving yourselves of good games? What is the logic in that?
