A bit of a substitues for DNF not releasing on my birthday the day prior I suppose. :hyper
-
Also, it's $10.

It's gonna be hard to call XBLA GOTY between Hard Corps, Strania, and this (probably).
-
Wasn't really feelin the DS game... is this more like the DS or the DC/N64 Bangai-O?
-
I couldn't get into the DS game either...
-
It looks more like the DC game than the DS game to me. I didn't really like the DS game either. Too much of a puzzle game... then again, Treasure seems to like turning shooters into puzzle games, like Ikaruga.

Now here's a GOOD Treaure series.
suck it down, Gunstar fans.
-
how similar to this is to Spirits?
-
Any word if this is more like the dc version or ds version or both?
-
No idea, I saw _dementia on GAF say that it's supposed to be closer to the DS game, but who knows. :fbm
It's out in about 5 hours anyway.
-
my friend who is a Treasure fan is coming over tonight, so we'll get it!
Hopefully this shyt has local co-op
-
JESUS CHRIST
That trailer is sick

Nothing wrong with the DS version even if it's not as good as the DC version. Still one of the better DS games.
Though, yeah, by watching 5 seconds of the early trailers it was pretty obvious they used the DS version as a base.

If it doesn't you know where to find me :-*
That video is awesome and I have no idea what the fuck is going on
-
It's up, 259mb.
Blind buying it. Hopefully I don't regret this!
Got 3.5 million on stage 1. Ranked #1 for the time being. Game's awesome!
edit: After playing further, this is definitely more of a puzzle game than anything. Meh. It's still pretty decent though.
-
This game's pretty weird. It's frustrating when you can't beat a stage because you don't know what you need to do in order to advance, but it's pretty fun once you figure everything out since you can fly through a stage and combo everything. So yeah, it's a puzzle game first and foremost. I'm not really a fan of that, but it's good for what it is.
It's definitely better than the DS game at least.
-
sort of glad I didn't buy this now. How disappointing
-
I didn't try it before buying it, but you should still check out the demo at least (the demo is apparently crap though, I dunno). I don't regret buying it, it's fun for what it is.
-
yeah, the overly puzzle nature sounds distinguished mentally-challenged.
-
The first 2 stages of the demo were alright. Then I tried the madness that is 3rd stage for like 30 mins and couldn't beat it. It's kinda like the DS game, but much better. Not sure if I'll get it though.
Shooting a shitload of missiles at once is satisfying as fuck though.
-
I read that the third stage of the demo is something like stage 38 in the full game. I'm only up to stage 21 or something but that seems pretty stupid to me. Some of the stages have been pretty hard, so I'm guessing the later ones are even crazier.

Best thing about the game easily. Countering enemy attacks and turning them into 1000 giant rockets over and over is really fun with all of the glorious slowdown.
-
This game is awesome, and it's a ridiculous value for only $10. It's true that it's closer to Spirits than the DC game, but it's still WAY better than Spirits. It's definitely up there with Strania and Hard Corps Uprising as an XBLA GotY contender.
Stage 38 :rofl
Treasure putting that as the third stage of the demo is such a great troll. People who don't understand the mechanics yet will play it be like :OOOOOOOOOO
:rofl
-
Getting this when I get a TV. Sold mine after a move.
-
Finished Fury mode. Excellent game, definitely one of the best on XBLA. A few of the maps are fairly challenging as well, which I always appreciate.
Now to finish the next 60 levels I just unlocked and I'll have the 200/200.
-
This is a puzzle game of sorts? Weird. Why didn't Treasure just port the DC version.
-
It's not completely a puzzle game, but all of the stages are pretty short and you have to figure out the best strategy to deal with its layout, or understand its gimmick. Most of the challenge comes from that, though there are a few levels that can be hard to beat even when you know what to do.
-
Not too many people are going to be able to complete this game, I think. Some of the Extreme stages make Fury mode look like a baby game.
I'm 1 of 2 people to beat the first stage. lulz
-
Extreme stage 12 is one of the best stages I've played in any game in a long, long time. It's easily been my favorite stage so far.
:bow Amazing game. Why is XBLA so godlike?
-
No one else is playing this? It's one of the best games on XBLA! :(
Anyway, just finished the Extreme stages. Some of them were pretty fucking hard indeed. And it looks like I'll be the third person in the world to 200/200 this, yay. Not bad since I've been playing other games as well.
-
I'm loaded up with stuff to play currently. I'll pick this up down the road. I'm really excited to play it though. I always liked this series.
-
Bought this yesterday, only finished the tutorial and the first stage hehe. I haven't played the DC or DS games so it's definitely a learning by doing experience. Only got a couple hundred thousand on the first stage, but I guess the key is to level up that first counter and then keep the combo going? Not really got this flow down yet.
-
Yeah, high scores are all about the combo meter. Get it as high as possible and you'll be getting millions points in no time. Using the counter (LT) refills the combo gauge, so using it wisely is key in order to chain enemies on certain stages.
-
bu bu. can only get to about 800k on the first stage. combo fizzles out eventually and sometimes I don't have enough counters left. I haven't really gotten the hang of the dash/freeze thing yet, does that do anything to keep the combo alive or give you EX points? I am weaksauce. :(
-
There are a lot of enemy spawners on the first stage IIRC, so if you accidentally start destroying them, you'll run out of enemies before you can get a huge chain going. Just stay in the middle if you really want to milk it.
Dashing doesn't increase your combo, but you can kill enemies while dashing into them, so that will add +1. Both dashing and freezing are very important though, and they become more and more important the further you progress. You'll get used to it after a while.
-
aha OK. so that might be the problem, I might be leveling up the counter too much initially so the HUGE MISSILESTM actually creams through a lot of spawners too early. will experiment with this.
-
icono, got any good tips for the boss on stage 17? I'm guessing the stage ends when you destroy the spawner, but I don't seem to be able to get the fucking ants out of the way hehe. I just keep pouring focused counters with the bounce weapon in there. but doesn't seem to be enough. argh
-
When the final area opens (with the ant spawner), don't kill any of the robots. Boost toward one of the open holes in front of you, try to freeze some bullets, and aim a counter attack right into the hole. Try to get at least 400+ on the counter, and if you still have meters left you can crank it up to 4x. Should take out the spawner instantly and end the stage.

Aha OK, was suspecting you needed to use the smaller doods to build up the counter. I've just been clearing them out first to get more counters. OK, will go for that. You can't level up the counter on this stage tho
-
lol, dropped my combo in a really dumb way on that run but still ended up third on the global leaderboard behind icono and some other dood. I guess a lot of people had problems with that level
-
Yeah, that was the first mission that I got stuck on for a while. Figuring out what I needed to do to destroy the stupid spawner was pretty frustrating. Everyone else probably just beat it and moved on, but I had to go back for revenge and get a good score. 8)
-
hoh, holy shit. stage 35
easily took me 30 tries or more. always ran out of counters trying to kill the hyooooge sword dood at the end. was watching a top10 replay now and realised it might actually be a nice idea to pick up the napalm. hehe. didn't use the homing at all on this stage so I dunno why I didn't think about switching them out.
