So after almost two years, $399.99, and me barely playing the damn thing the console finally decides to take a shit on me. I'm just wondering is it normal for PS3's disc drives to just fail without notice? And could Madden 2011 be the culprit? I've tried all my disc types and nothing comes up, not even the little disc in the XMB.
Thank god for Dead Rising Case Zero and all my lovely 360 games. I don't know what I'd do without them ::) :lol :lol :lol

Things break.

But its the PS3 its so much better built than the 360 and it never breaks... if anything i hope this makes for a good excuse to get my money back from target for the console so I can buy a Slim PS3 with Move!

maybe if you didnt try to slam your inflated dick into the disc slot it would still work

Yea my 60gig BC launch system's BD drive died. Sony wanted $150 to fix it.
Spent that $150 on a standalone BD player and never looked back.

I honestly can't tell if this is an amazing troll, or a terrible troll

Yeah BC is a pretty big deal for me and sadly Sony doesn't guarantee that you'd get another BC console back from them. So I'm glad I had a warranty, if its not fixable we get our money back!

I've had to send my first PS3 in for repairs because it stopped working, but at least it was only one. If I took of picture of all the dead 360's I've gone through it'd look like the Battle of the Somme. Thank god for that warranty.
Still, as of now my PS3 is one noisy fucker while my 360 is whisper quiet (dead serious here), or at least it is when playing an installed game. So now one of the main benefits of playing a multiconsole game on the PS3 has now turned in the 360's favor.

My original 60g PS3 died with YLOD last year, with some other earlier models theres differing issues from the motherboard to blu-ray drive. Sony fixed it free though and replaced every damn component in the thing even though it was a simple motherboard error and it returned with BC intact too. Idc bout BC though, I tried talking them into giving me a slim instead. No dice.

wait - so they won't guarantee you'll get your bc unit back if you send it in for repairs?

How can they. They don't make them anymore. Often your system is just replaced in these situations with another. I've had similar situations with non console products with returns. If they don't make that particular product anymore they give you whatever is their latest model of said product.

my ps3 stopped reading discs
just buy a new lens off ebay for 45$ and replace it yourself, like me :)
oh then sell it

i understand that, but if it's a drive issue they ought to just fix the drive and send it back
if not, they should send a ps2 in the package to anyone who sends in a bc unit, considering it probably costs all of 5 dollars for them to manufacture ps2 systems nowadays

If its a simple fix they probably will but I was more addressing the guarantee part. They won't guarantee anything because until they see if they won't put themselves in a situation where they are on the hook. If they got it in and something else was wrong and it was simpler to just send him a different unit, that is what they would do.

my BD is taking really long times to load shit up now. It's got me worried :(
