Okay, so I just got to Germany about two weeks ago. I'm just starting to get to know the people I work with, and getting along fine. One of my co-workers just recently got bad news from home, and needs someone to ride with him up to Frankfurt airport so that someone can drive his car back. He asked me, and so I said 'yes'. He's also offered to lend me his car for the entire week he's gone, and all I have to do is pay the outrageous gas prices.
Problem: his car is a manual and I do not drive manual. I had a ten minute class about a week ago, when another co-worker was showing me his car. That was driving in circles with an instructor handy and in a deserted parking lot. This will be one hour and a half on the autobahn...
Should I back out? Are there any tips other manual drivers can give me? Like when to press down on the clutch when braking or shifting or whatnot?

UR FUCKED. Hey go make some baked potato soup.
-
Why did you have to be the first post, goddamnit.
-
don't do it. you will only end up wrecking his car.
-
it's not that hard, relax.
-
Well, I told him my about my very limited experience and he's supposedly going to give me another lesson...this one might last twelve minutes lolz

Didn't you recently switch from being a lesbian to having a boyfriend? You'd think you'd have learnt how to handle stick by now. Twelve minutes is a lot to expect from a guy...
-
I've had a lot of practice since I switched teams, thank you very much!!! :'(
-
just pretend theres a rubber band attaching your left (euro car right?) hand and left foot together, every time you step on the clutch the band moves your hand to change the gear, its not that hard, just dont fuck up or youll strip the shit out of the engine
-
Case closed anyway, he found another ride. But I swear my boyfriends real and not imaginary! ;)
-
:lol left hand
whats funny
in europe the driver sits on the right side of the car, therefore the stick would be on your left

Drew only recognizes english speaking countries.

Rodi do you really like cock now? Why did you switch sides? You missed the feeling of getting your inner walls destroyed?

Because that's the reason why Demi switched.

Hope it works out Rodi. How's the beer? If you get a chance see Obscura, my guitar teacher is the lead guitarist and they're from Germany! :rock

Learning manual and using that newly learned ability to drive on the autobahn, talk about trial by fire, yo.
-
yeah, that wouldnt end well, and by not ending well i mean shed strip the gears, stall out, and find the license plate off a ferrari enzo a foot up her ass 2.5 seconds later
-
I switched sides on a whim and was pleasantly surprised :-*
-
Sounds like your bf doesn't need any tips on driving the beef bus to tuna town. :tophat

You'd think there'd be more waffles in this country :(

Is it hard to breathe with your face buried in a pillow?

It's easy if you know when to pop up for a quick breath every now and then.
I want to learn how to drive manual, but my car that I'm trying to get shipped over is an automatic anyway and I don't see the point in buying another one while I'm here. Even if they are dirt cheap. :)
-
Rodi. What are some other things you've learned since switching sides? Did you know that when we get wet it shrinks?
-
Of course they know that.
-
Going from experience diunx? :fbm

Wait a minute, what?!

Not me, I'm one of those "add water" toys.

As long as you're not a tard there is a very small change of damage. Missing a gear isn't going to "strip the engine" (sorry drew but what the hell does that even mean?). It's just going to make a whirring/grinding sound and you push the clutch in and try again. The only dangerous part is going 90 miles an hour and deciding you want to be in first. That could cause a problem. But like I said, as long as you're not a tard. My wife learned how to drive manual on the way home from the dealership. It's easy.
